Questions & Answers

When I twisted this part out, the plug part snapped. I don't see anything in the dishwasher that has wires or appears to need to be plugged in?

To find the plug in, remove the machine's bottom front panel and look for it hanging down. That plug-in is inserted into the float switch through the hole. Because of the close quarters, you may need to pull the machine out a little and tilt it upwards to give yourself more room to work. As much as possible, avoid breaking the connectors.

Is this a gdt695ssj2ss compatible part? thanks?

Dishes don't seem to be drying out.   After a full cycle, the dishes in our GE dishwasher model GDT580SGF0BB were no longer dry. After reading numerous comments on other parts forums, it was discovered that this was the only component that required replacement. I narrowed it down to three possibilities:
1. a flood switchbr>br>br>a flood switchbr>br>br> heating assembly, andbr>br>br>br>br>br>b control board. br>Began with the cheapest option, which fortunately solved the issue. The flood switch had become clogged with buildup over time and was no longer functioning properly. I was actually wondering if simply thoroughly rinsing the existing switch would have resolved the issue. But why bother rinsing an old one when there's a brand new one right in front of you? Dbr>br>Also, I wasn't sure if the rattling sound from the switch was normal or not, so I asked the seller, who said no; turns out, the replacement unit rattles just as much. So, if you get the unit and it rattles, I can only say that it appears to be normal and that it works. It's similar to how a can of spray paint feels when shaken. br>br>All you'll need for this job is a 1/4" hex drive and, most likely, a rubber glove because the old one is filthy. I couldn't find any instructions for this replacement on the internet, and it's actually quite simple. It took me about 30 minutes of actual work and an hour of WTH.
1. Ensure that the power is securebr>2. Ensure that the water inlet is securebr>3. Remove the two Frankenstein screws from their sockets by handbr>4. Remove the food filterbr>5. Remove the metal grate by removing it by removing it by removing it by removing it by removing it by removing it by Remove two hex screws with a hex driverbr>9. Pull the old flood switch up slowly (it's only held in place by a compressed o-ring). On the bottom, there's a ring and a wiring harness. ) Be careful not to pull or rip it out; otherwise, you'll have to do a wiring harness repair and pull the DW out of its kitchen cabinet completely. br>10. br>11. Fix the GDT580SS GE dishwasher that won't clean and won't heat the water
5/5

Item arrived in good condition. br>For my GDT580SS series dishwasher, this replaces the flood switch. br>Problems included a lack of heat and a failure to clean the dishes. After going through the dishwasher, the dishes didn't dry and began to smell. br>br>As other reviewers have mentioned, this part controls the heating element and is the dishwasher's most common point of failure. It's a simple and inexpensive fix that the GE dishwasher manual neglects to mention in the troubleshooting section. br>br>Clean the fine filter on a regular basis. If necessary, replace the item. Over the years, mine had accumulated a lot of gunk. The flood switch will begin to fail sooner if the fine filter becomes clogged.

I was able to resolve the problem

The GE Dishwasher would not heat up, and the soap dispenser would not open. In total, it took me about 15 minutes to replace this.
1. Make sure the appliance's power is turned off at the panel.
2. To remove the screws without damaging them, use a 1/4-inch long magnetic nut driver. (in the case of a GE). One of these exists in my possession: All of the rings and drainage areas should be cleaned out. Mine was full of beans and food bits, and it smelled awful! Before you remove the old flood switch, make sure to suck up as much water as possible so it doesn't spill onto the floor under the dishwasher. My dishwasher is now as good as new. br>br>.

This was the best purchase I've made
5/5

For my GE GDF40HGD0BB dishwasher, I ordered this part on Tuesday and received it on Wednesday. it ended of my warranty expired; he replaced the heating element and door detergent dispenser, totaling around 200 dollars. He even said the dishwasher seemed fixed, when I searched youtube I found another one that hadn't heated and/or dried and I was in the store ready to purchase a.

My dishwasher is now working properly
5/5

What I didn't realize was that I didn't need to uninstall my dishwasher to replace this part; it was as simple as removing the micro filter, the lower spray arm, and the fine filter, soaking up all the water in the well around the switch flood asm, and removing a couple of screws. Pull the switch flood asm up to the point where you can unplug it and replace it. br>br>The water in my dishwasher would not heat up. It was still not working after I replaced the heating element. The temperature of the water is controlled by this component. Voila! I'm a handy/crafty mom!.

It is simple to change out
5/5

I bought it after looking up how to replace the heating element in my GE dishwasher on YouTube. After watching several videos on this switch, I determined that it was the switch, not the heating element, that was the source of my problem. So I ordered a new switch and replaced the old one as soon as it arrived. It was my problem, so I did a quick load of dishes. My GE dishwasher has returned to its previous state of being extremely hot. br>This is very simple to replace; in fact, I spent more time watching YouTube videos on how to do it than I did actually replacing it.

My GE dishwashers were not heating or drying properly, and I was able to resolve this issue
5/5

My dishwasher is only three years old, but it suddenly stopped heating the water and heating during the dry cycle, resulting in dirty dishes. After doing some research on the issue, I discovered that the only solution was to replace the switch flood. I wasn't sure if this would work, but the alternative was to call an appliance repairman, so I figured I'd give it a shot and save over $100 in travel costs. I watched a YouTube video on how to replace it and it was fairly simple; now my dishwasher is as good as new!.
