A thin straw, such as the kind used to stir drinks, will almost certainly fall through the bottom. I'd be wary of using a drinking straw. I recently experimented with one. I was able to push it through some of the holes, despite the fact that it did not fall through.
No, the two halves do not come apart.
Like a door, the top section with the slots opens and closes. You can leave it open for larger utensils if you leave it up. You could rip it off if you wanted to, but you don't have to.
Please take a closer look at the product description. It is expressly stated there, and this will prevent you from wasting other people's time by asking ridiculous questions. They are, however, 3 1/2 x 6 x 9 inches in size.

After 4 years of use, the bottom of one section on the original broke out. Think about how the drying cycles weaken the plastic over time. This was a perfect match to the original. The small covers were removed, and we were back in business. The order was shipped quickly, and it arrived on my doorstep less than a week after I placed it.
I bought it to replace my GE compact dishwasher, which had broken down. It's a dead ringer for the original. br>br>Make sure this flatware holder is compatible with the dishwasher model you have. I had previously ordered one, but it was much too big. I didn't look up my make or model on the website.
