Selected User Reviews For Hillsound Trail Crampon - Ice Traction Device/Crampons, 11 Carbon Steel Spikes, 2 Year Warranty
As an 'in between' I carry and use these 'trail spikes'. Despite the extra weight in my pack, I find them easy to put on and take off, they provide reasonable traction on glare ice and packed snow, and here's why I think they are worth the extra weight I have tripped over 2" crampons on several occasions when I'm exhausted on the way down. These are not a problem for me. In other words, it's like protecting yourself without undergoing I suggest that you buy a pair that has the velcro band on the top and the toe bar if you wish to cross-shop brands. Keeping the assembly from twisting on the boot is made easier with this part. The products here are satisfactory to me, so I continue to use.
I have found them to be quite sturdy and helpful There's a velcro strap, which I have no reason to think is necessary, so I feel like they're more difficult to put on and take off than my Kahtoola microspikes. In addition, they're a little larger than Wearing a size 9 is not unusual for me. On frigid winter hikes I wear an insulated Keen boot in size 11 (42) because I wear size 5 (40) for lightweight hiking most of the time. It's a little hard to fit the size M Hillsounds on the lightweight boots, but the Kahtoolas do. I can stretch the Kahtoolas over the heavier boots, but the Hillsounds fit better. Kahtoolas is a brand I have used with great satisfaction for many years. In the last year, I bought a pair of new shoes in the updated design to replace my outdated 8-inch pair A year ago We used to have the old-fashioned ones. Five uses of the new ones resulted in the rubber snapping off. I received a new pair of Kahtoolas, but I am somewhat wary so I bought Hillsounds in case the first pair fails. Hillsounds are not durable enough for me to comment, because I have not used them long enough to know.
As it turned out, Hillsound had more spikes and long spikes, which gave it the edge. Our house has been experiencing crazy weather this winter, so my husband used these to sand our very steep driveway in water the other night. There is ice on the ground. He is a man of few words, but his declaration "These are amazing!" sums up his perspective. That's all there is to it.
All three of these deserve three stars. The problem is the part where the chains connect to the rubber ring. This should be a design flaw if you want to use them for light climbing (up and down). In the case of too much stress, the rubber breaks, leaving the chain hanging, rendering them useless. Whenever you have running gear, I suggest that you have a couple of cable ties in the bag. You can quickly and easily fix little things that go wrong while I ordered this pair for the second time because of the fact that they couldn't handle the stress for what I was using them for. This pair also did not last, so I had to return it. I tried another brand out, but they didn't last. In my case, I have an extremely steep lawn, so I use these when I hand mow it (side-to-side) The right side. 2014 was the last time I bought a set. In the end, a cable kept the last pair together. It had worn out ties, and I decided to replace it. I'm happy that the first pair of boots lasted so long despite walking sideways on the hill and mowing. They are designed for a different kind of use, so I'm glad they lasted so long. Replacements in the future did not last very long. The replacement pair is on the way. We used them just It is evident that one of the rubber rings connecting the linkages broke, as illustrated in the image As a result of ordering another pair, I was impressed with their customer service. Once the new pair was used, it was discarded. We used them just It is the same place where the breakage happened. As I try to find out what my next steps will be, I have returned the items for a refund.
As far as ice climbing or mountain climbing is concerned, I am not experienced. This crampon is ideal for trips to New Zealand and Iceland, and I keep it in the back of my car when I go winter skiing During my most recent visit to Iceland, they performed extremely well on all types of ice including hard and glare ice, wet and waterfall ice, snow, frozen ground, and rocky terrain. On this trip, they made a world of difference in safety because they were easy to put on and take off (practice taking them on and off in your living room with glove liners on), seemed durable, and made all the difference during bad weather. Hillsound crampons were provided to visitors who did not bring their own, and our glacier guides were complimentary of the quality. After researching the recommendations of other standard brands, I purchased these. The price was lower than some of the other brands and it seemed to be a higher quality product from the reviews. In dim light and against dark boots, the red model is a bit less bright than some of its competitors, but it's more than bright enough. Happy with my purchase.
It was awesome to have these on the PCT section through the Sierras. We had a lot of snow travel this year, and these were just the ticket on those chilly With these and a pair of trail runners I was pretty secure as I climbed some steep stuff. I would have preferred boots and crampons, but these and trail runners went pretty well together. They were my first choice over the Microspikes, because of the longer teeth and the fact that they're steel instead of aluminum, which I figured would make them They are very pleasing to the eye.
In the winter months of New England (snow and ice with ice covered snow), we used these for winter hiking and easier climbing on a mountain. I was very pleased with them! They are incredibly easy to use, not only are they easy to put on, but they are also very durable. Snowshoes made for hiking and ice skiing make ice and snow conditions less of a hassle. If you don't use them, your feet will slip on ice, you'll fall, and your dog will pull you around with them. You will also use a lot less energy getting around because your feet won't slip like they do in sand when wearing There was no doubt in my mind- Wear them from the gravel parking lot to the mountaintop and back again, and you will feel confident and secure. The water runoffs were easy to cross and we were able to scurry up the exposed ice rocks as well. There are a few inches of snow and moderate ice on the track and the spike length is perfect for this. You might be better off using nano/microspikes on a driveway than in a snowstorm as they won't damage the surface you're walking on, and they don't overpower the situation. Hillsound's sizing guide for hiking boots was extremely helpful for determining the correct size. Whenever we use them, we absolutely love them and will continue to do so.
