Kahtools are an incredible product that I own and love, but for me $25 seemed more appropriate for my husband's pair of cheaper ones. A 30-some on Amazon is indeed worth purchasing. Both the pair have not fitted well, as do the chains - particularly near his arch (his foot is quite fit for the size described) and overall they pull pretty much at the point where they attach to the leg. It is now my turn to order him the items instead of waiting till the cost is lowered.
You have to decide what to wear. For my athletic equipment, I chose an extra large due to wear over a small hiking boot. For this reason, I prefer this style because there is no excess foam attached to the boot due to my insistence on the micro spikes fitting. Over a regular hiker's shoe, I would pick a big one. As an 8 shoes can take a little if they are smaller, for 8 shoes it could go into medium if it is larger.

Their usefulness was satisfactory to me, and I didn't have any problems with them.

Since I have owned Kahtoola Microspikes for five years, I purchased these as an replacement. However, the new ones are way too large, and made of a poor material as compared to the one I ordered. A study I did found that a South Korean manufacturing facility was replaced with a Thailand design that is flimsy and ill fitting and is now a South Korean one. My search led me to a company that produces a superior version of the original microspikes made by the original South Korean company. In January, ChainsenPro was introduced by Snowline. The price is also lower.
On this issue, they tried fixing it. The spikes I bought are as good as those I've been using for years. An islet is strengthened to fix an issue of tearing out of the lug as a result of the crampon chain tearing out. It's now better to fix not to fix now instead of a fix- Rip (Restores from the broken harness, The Entire Harness Rips With the help of zip ties). This interferes with the whole system. Their warranty doesn't allow us to send for an RME or follow up with phone calls, but we try 2 times in over 2 years. Customer service without responding to an item defective in nature.
The reason I have added another 10 miles this Saturday is because I was able to exercise for that distance. As I moved very fast on foot, I fell off my boot a number of times due to the icy conditions. Our medium was ordered and we wore the men's 9-piece suit to work. There should be five sizes so there is a good match. Afterward, I inspected the equipment for failure when I got home, and found one that failed. During any season in which I get a season out of them, I could manage that, but the distance for 20 miles must be longer to avoid failures.
It snapped after being torn in half. I was very disappointed to learn of the incident. Please find attached the picture.
It is my firm belief that these will eventually fail. I owned two of the older models, and both were great. I ended up replacing them since these had been lost. It has been in recent years that I have witnessed a number of newer microspike trails fail over the Pacific Crest and Appalachian trails. The older ones I was hoping for arrived too late, but a cheaper, less powerful model showed up shortly after I was ordered it. Apparently, this box says they were Editors choice winners by Backpacker magazine -- but there is a sticker on top claiming they were from 2015 to 2016. Compared with old-fashioned chain saws, newer chains tend to break relatively easily, they are cheap. In the event that you remove the rubber on your shoe, it will cause a snap if broken. Kahtoola, make sure your act is set. Once upon a time, this was your go-to. Now because they've generated enough fame to own a business, the product quality has plummeted to near zero. While I'll continue to look for an alternative, I'll also need to look for a new partner.
The spikes come to mind. The tread on the toughpack gives them great traction. After trying them for four times, finally finding 1/3 of the rubber split 3/4 time through, they don't keep working any more. My apologies for the delay but I will have these returned as soon as possible.
It can be used as a multipurpose device on muddy or wet conditions. Soleless traction; no other pair of boots or shoes can do the same. I like the design and the fact that it appears well made. In all honesty I don't believe these spikes will take an ice throw; however, I've tried stepping on glaciers with lesser spikes. But my friend managed to somehow s on the trail! So it seems a little crazy, right?? It took me two decades to come across the same type of issue as everyone else, and it must have been caused by a defect like mine. Comfort-wise, I found the shoes to be too tight over my toes, and it felt uncomfortable as a result. If your feet start to feel hot after a few times, that's when you start to feel it. As a result, you should utilize green foot insoles. These materials were created to be used for hiking, and you cannot walk anywhere with them. It's hard to miss Hawaii's popular trails these days. It would be nice if people used them sparingly and responsibly. I have decided to permanently give up on using mine for that reason. Quality, functionality, and efficiency should all come out on top at 4/5. However, I challenge you to make sure you do not limit your hiking to a few miles and to the point where you don't need them.
The score I get is a 9-. These shoes fit nicely and are available in 5 sizes. A gravel path we hiked on went away iced over (after rains), but then a thaw of the top layer of snow allowed slush/water to escape the ground. Climbing and descending hills in these conditions had no issues or problems preventing campers from making it safely up and down. There were others on the trail who went off to follow their intended route. Walking along the unfrozen trail with a short walk on the parking lot showed no signs of wear despite wearing spikes for more than 3 miles. I believe the rubber provided a degree of protection from slip since it retained the spikes firmly.
