RaceWax's Marc says: They're from Japan and come in a variety of colors. I'm not sure if they're manufactured in that country. Years ago, the box stated that, but now it does not specify where it is manufactured.

Selected User Reviews For Wintersteiger Ski/Snowboard Waxing Iron
This week was the first time I used my iron, and I don't think it's something I'd recommend. The iron heats up and does its job, but it doesn't hold the heat very well. The first pass or two over a ski necessitates very slow movement in order for the crayoned on wax to completely melt. The next passes were still slow but better than the first once I got some warmth into the ski.
I can't decide whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. Even when the skis are at a moderate temperature, iron cools too quickly (my workroom is insulated in the winter). It works and is reasonably priced, but I wish it had a stronger element or some other way to keep the temperature at a higher level for a longer period of time. On a 186cm ski, I can't even melt the wax in a single pass from tip to tail.
It performs admirably. There were no issues at all. br>Using a thermocouple, it appears that internal relay cycles are causing relatively large temperature swings. However, it did not appear that this had any effect on the wax application.
In a cold room, it's difficult to get warm enough. It must be set to its highest level. I'd prefer something a little heavier, but since this is a travel iron, it's understandable that it should be light. It's fully functional and fits our skis perfectly.
The temperature was not a problem for him. It's a little difficult to stand up in between uses without a lo get cord.
For a smooth, one-motion waxing, iron strength is insufficient. Continue to apply wax. The temperature settings aren't consistent or precise. Regardless, it gets the job done. just.
This is my first wax iron, but I've borrowed a few from friends before. The heat dial is nice; it's incremental, so you can get the same setting every time; it's a little loose, but it didn't turn unintentionally while using or bumping it. br>Heats up quickly and stands up without tripping. br>I (and my kids) waxed five sets of skis and one snowboard right away, and it worked perfectly the entire time. br>Waxing your own equipment is a great way to get your kids involved in their sport.
I've waxed three pairs of skis and had no problems. It's simple to prevent this iron from overheating and burning the base. It doesn't keep the temperature perfectly constant, but it's simple to adjust up or down as needed. Throughout the winter, I'll use this a couple of times per week until spring arrives, when I'll use it almost every day. For the price, this is an excellent product.
