Questions & Answers

Is it possible to snowboard on this?

Snowboarding is not something I would do with this helmet. As well as not being certified foam, it is also uninsulated.

These helmets have been in my collection for a few years
3/5

You can use this one. These helmets have been in my collection for a few years. The one I am currently using is barely out of the water and already has light rust on it after being in the water. Washing it out with fresh water after paddling is a regular practice for me. The rust on this helmet seems to be more intense than the rust on my other ace.

I love how it fits
5/5

It's a big guy for me, I'm 6 feet 1 and 220 pounds. RESEARCH ON SIZE WAS DONE BY ME! Typing "PRO-" is an option The fit wasn't to my liking, so I googled "TEC sizing chart" and found this. I went with xl after checking the size chart. I have a perfect fit! If only I had taken a few minutes to check out their sizing chart instead of relying on my guesses. As much as I thought the size chart was to scale, I'm sure it would be the same Stylish product, light weight, and feels like it can take a hard hit and keep you safe from your noodles. Pro is great, would buy another one in a heartbeat.

This is excellent
5/5

The product is very good for the price, and it is well made. Despite being submerged in water for a long time, it seems to be holding up well. It would be a great recommendation for others if I had the chance.

This is not a very comfortable chair
3/5

It is not uncommon for a thin rear polymer "headlock" suspension part to bunch up. I am a pro- The Tec Ace Wake helmet is made of a thick waterproof EVA foam material that will protect your head from the elements. It has ventilated rubber ear flaps (lined with softer material) that will also 2) The ear flaps are retained by two clasps, however, the clasps are not very secure, so they are likely to fall out of the bag under the influence of hydrostatic pressure I have to ensure they are still in place, so I always check. If the flaps can be secured in place, they might be ingenious. The chinstrap is a bit annoying to adjust, but it comes with a soft sleeve to protect your face Wrapped around the pad (attached with Velcro). If you want to adjust the chinstrap, you have to remove the pad. In some of the Ace Wake helmets, there is a rear goggle retention strap. A strange thing about this helmet is that it only comes with certain Take a look at the Pros & Cons It may be worth checking out the Tec website for colors with the strap (as well as a size chart), since the colors that come with the strap might While the picture on Amazon depicts the matte black helmet without the goggle strap, mine came with the matte blue paint job too. Tec has also made "special edition" Ace Wake Helmets in colors like "army green" and "cement" - Please make this clear in your thoughts. The goggle strap is on some and not on others. It would be best to look at actual photos of the color helmet you are considering purchasing to discover if the goggles are included. People's heads, or heads as they call them, come in a variety of shapes, and the helmet does not feel very comfortable to me or I can tolerate it, but I don't like If the padding will conform to your particular head shape will depend on the shape of the padding. hard foam in the EVA foam does have to be stiff to provide protection against repeated hard impacts, but if you secure the helmet well with the chin strap, you will feel the hard foam pressing on your head all the time. While this is to be expected with waterproof EVA foam helmets, there is one major issue the rear suspension piece is too thin and can collapse back on itself, resulting in the helmet's failure to properly cradle the back of your head. Putting on your helmet backwards will help by tilting the head lock suspension piece to the back of your head as you put it on. But if you do this a lot, the piece eventually rolls under the back of your head and causes discomfort. It is usually better to go up a size when you are on the border line, so that you don't run into this problem and it is generally Nevertheless, wearing the helmet that is not secure enough may cause it to move around on your head when you experience a hard impact or big wave.

The head lock suspension piece is a little bit adjustable on both sides with two small nubs. There are earpad holes (to adjust at the front, you must remove them). Because the rubber is thin, it is important to be careful when pulling/pushing the little adjusting nubs in and out of the holes in order to avoid damaging the suspension or the nubs. It's best to try helmets on in a local store if you have one nearby (and to buy them there), in order to get the right size, and to make sure that they are comfortable. They can also help you determine if the helmet is correctly sized. It may be better to consider other brands of water helmets that are You may also find that some people buy this helmet in place of a military style "bump helmet" like the Pro Tec PT A-03 This helmet costs about the same (or even a bit more) as the Bravo helmet. Despite their similarities, they differ significantly in terms of foam and suspension system (see online reviews & Check out these videos for more It is also very stiff at the end of the day. The incredibly hard EVA foam in the Ace Wake helmet is likely to be quite hot to wear out of the water for most of the day.
