You can shade your eyes with the visor on the front of the helmet, which is known as the peak.
A CPC rating for Gath helmets used as bicycle helmets does not exist. Ultimately, though you MAY be able to wear it, you probably shouldn't because it won't protect you as well as a proper bike helmet.

It has been a few weeks since I purchased the helmet, and it has worked out great. Despite not having the exact color I wanted in stock, the employees at eBodybording were very helpful. I appreciate the time they took to call me and find me an alternative to the services I was considering. It arrived as scheduled, in perfect condition, so it was ready to go. It is a helmet I would definitely recommend to anyone who surfs in crowded spots.
I'm not sure if the Velcro tabs for your earpiece will hold up when hit by a big wave, but I prefer using it without them.
Specifically, the size of the cap seemed accurate based on the size of the head. I really like the comfort of this.
