It took about four months and a dozen trips to complete. Because the cord will not retract, I now have a $35 leash to go with my $15 fishing pliers.
The first one was damaged when it arrived, but customer service quickly fixed it. I've used the new one several times while fishing in my kayak and it works perfectly. I used it to hold my pliers in place, and the chord extends to the ideal length. For kayak fishing, this is a must-have accessory. A standard rail is securely locked into place.
The plastic nipple on the bottom is from an older model. The new model with the metal nipple was what I was expecting. I wanted the newer model because the nipple on my old model had been sheared off by a big red smack.
This is the second of these that we've bought for our kayaks. They're used to secure our water bottle containers, which can be quite heavy when fully loaded. They don't roll around in the kayaks because of the retractor. We find it to be ideal.
This is fantastic - So far, I've got three of them in my kayak. One is for a hand paddle, one is for fishing pliers, and one is for my phone case. My entire collection is track mounted.
This product is extremely useful for preventing items from falling into the water, but we are always looking for ways to save space in our kayaks, and this product appears to take up more space than is required. I like the idea, but I think the shape should be changed.
For kayak fishing, this is a great little accessory.
It's quite large.
