It did not stain a canvas boat top that I used it on. I made sure I only got it on the zipper and snaps.
I went to the MSDS website and looked it up. It's cork grease, which is made up of lanolin (think lamb's wool or skin). Cork grease is primarily used on the corks that hold woodwind instruments together so they can be disassembled for storage, such as clarinets and oboes.

There is a waxy residue, but it accomplishes the task at hand. I've also used it to clean zippers, and if it got on your hands, it just wiped off. It isn't overly oily; rather, it has a waxy texture.

It has a sloppy consistency. br>Put some chapstick on your lips. I used chapstick while waiting for the product to arrive, which helped a lot, so when the zipper started sticking and wouldn't close, I used this product, which completely destroyed the zipper. So go ahead and use some chapstick. It's a lot better now. br>If I had the ability, I would return this.
My small RV has an awning that is rolled up and stored on the outside of the trailer in a zip-up vinyl case. The zipper measures approximately ten feet in length. Due to constant sun and weather exposure, the zipper has become increasingly difficult to use over the last few years. It repeatedly binds up, and getting it to zip properly takes a lot of force and patience. Behind the zipper pull, it would frequently bust open/unzip itself. This was made even more frustrating because it was mounted at the trailer's roof line, which meant you had to do it from a chair or a step stool. It was almost unusable at this point. br>I assumed the zipper was too rotted and far gone to be saved, but for the small cost of this Snap-On, I decided to give it a try. Despite the fact that it was a desperate attempt, I figured I didn't have much to lose. br>I followed the instructions and immediately noticed a significant improvement in the zipper. It's not just a difference in subtlety; it's a difference between day and night. It worked like new after a few times of pulling the zipper back and forth and pushing the product deeper into the teeth. I'd go so far as to say it's even better than new. Since I bought it new, the zipper had never worked so smoothly. br>His product met and exceeded my expectations in my application! This was money well spent. This is a product that I wholeheartedly endorse.
When assembling wooden 3D trick puzzles, treasure chests, or gear contraptions, you must wax the edges of the wood or the gears will not turn later, and it will be more difficult to fit the pieces together. You could use a block of wax, but we'd already used this wax on zippers (and it worked great!). ) and thought it would be a good match for our wooden 3D puzzles. That is exactly what happened. This is a LOT easier than using a paraffin or other wax block. It's gentle and easy to apply. It was the ideal solution to our puzzle problem, as it ensured that all of the gears were in proper working order. When I first opened the tube, it was obvious that it had already been used. The whole thing was a shambles. It still worked, and since it was only for zippers, we decided to keep it because it didn't appear to be used very often. It appears to assist with zippers. br> I deducted a star for receiving a refurbished item.
On our boat lift in Florida, I used it to fix the cover snaps on my pontoon boat. It's a saline and harsh environment. I bought my first tube in 2013, and I think I've only reapplied it once. and the waxy substance is still there and working! There isn't a more ringing endorsement. I recently bought a different product in a squeezy tube that I thought would work on my zippers, but it seems to run off the snaps at 90 degrees. I'm ordering a new tube because this waxy high melting point product is clearly superior.
That's all I have to say about it. Simply rub it on the snap base; I found that smearing it all over the snap base worked best. I had a couple pull throughs before I used this product, and it made a huge difference; it now takes a lot of effort to get it to come loose. For what it is, it might be a little pricey. As a result, I've given it four stars. It resembles a large tube of ChapStick in both appearance and feel. My Bimini repairman informed me that ChapStick and Carmex will work in the same way. I'm fine with it because it works.
Due to dry male and female snap parts, I no longer have to struggle with setting or unsetting my canvas snaps. But be careful; one of my friends discovered it in the side pocket of my boat, and I caught him using it as chapstick on his chapped lips. Because there are no side effects, I assume this is a safe product for such amusing errors.
I wanted to see if there was anything I could do to make it easier to open and close zippers that weren't smooth. Because the wax is a little soft, you'll want to use caution when applying it to the zipper. It seemed to work well most of the time, and it didn't make any of the zippers worse, so it was still worth it. The item was also delivered ahead of schedule.
