There is no word on how much weight my 12 footer weighs but it is around 70 pounds. I was able to use it without any problems. Surely, you are not limited by the weight of the metal, but by the drywall or stud you attach it to.
As for mine, it fit perfectly, and I was very pleased with how well it worked.

Although I did not purchase two sets of kayak hangers because of the description, it made it seem I was buying two sets. A kayak can only be held up by one set. In the event that the description had been more clear, I might have purchased another product. The article was misleading in a sense. This is what I think.
