Questions & Answers
You could hang it from the ceiling, but the rack is designed to hold a paddleboard vertically, so it would probably fall out. br>When I store mine in the garage, I use heavy duty bungee straps and a couple of eye bolts on each end.
It should be able to be mounted to aluminum dock posts, I'm sure. It could be mounted almost anywhere with a little ingenuity. I changed it so that it would fit on my boat. This is an excellent product.
It comes with three 3" wood screws that go through a 3/4" thick part of the mount, leaving at least 2" to grab into the wood.
I used a U-bolt to drill a second hole in the mount. I used a bolt to secure it to my boat's rail. I hope this has been of assistance.

It's well-made, and I like how the. This suction cup holder is fantastic. Very well constructed, and I like how the board rests on the straps rather than the metal. I bought this to hang my surfboard on my boat because boat racks were much more expensive and rested the board on metal. With a couple of U-turns, In a matter of minutes, I had it mounted on the boat. It looks fantastic.
This is a good product with the potential to be even better, but it suffers from a simple design flaw: The lowest mounting screw is located below the unit's front arm, effectively blocking drill access. It's probably not a big deal if you're screwing into a 2x4, but mounting these units into concrete wasn't easy. If you've ever used masonry screws before, you know that you should never stop or jump off the screw head because the screw will strip out. After much cursing and significant paint damage, I was able to get these units hung in the end. Clearly, whoever designed these units has never lifted a power tool in their lives and sat behind a computer screen. If a little thought had gone into alignment and access to the mounting sites, I would easily give this product five stars.
I'm glad I did because they're beautifully designed and constructed, as well as simple to install and attractive. Rather than buying the double hanging set, I bought two single hanging sets and then the Extension Bracket kit. This saved me about $30 compared to purchasing the same kit that includes all of the same items in a single box. I chose the regular steel set with powder cat paint over the saltwater galvanized painted set because I will be using these outside on our lake boathouse. It should work fine here because they included all of the necessary mounting hardware as well as clear instructions. The 25" mounting screws are very long, and you'll need an offset screwdriver to put it together. The straps that hang from the ceiling are 1. 5" wide, very thick webbing that is fully adjustable via Velcro from the bottom ends, allowing you to easily shorten or lengthen your top clip. It's a beautiful design that's also very functional.
This isn't meant to be used with a kayak. Unless your kayak has a profile of 12", it's for tightening down a SUP or surfboard. I keep mine outside on my dock, which gets strong winds from time to time. It's simple to set up if you have the right tools. The person who complained that installing the screws was difficult did so because they did not use a phillips extension (at least 7 inches) to get the proper angle on the head. br>br>** After nearly two years on a freshwater lake dock, a review - My paddleboard rack is holding up well, and I use it to put on and take off my boards several times per week. It's built to last, and the straps keep the boards in place even in high winds. However, the bolts that hold the straps in place are standard carbon steel, and they are rusting. I'm sure there would be a lot more rust if this was in a salt environment, but I'm very happy with it, as well as the other model that holds my kayaks. Because the name is incorrect, don't think this is a kayak holder. It won't be able to hold a kayak.
My father put in the Costco heavy-duty racks, and the two J racks fit perfectly in the slots. I did have to go to Home Depot for some washers and fasteners, and I had to switch screws because the ones that came with the package were threaded incorrectly. Space-saving options are fantastic!.
All in all, a fantastic product.

Both boards fit perfectly, with enough room for the fins to avoid making contact with the wall or the back SUP. ***IF you have a board with a longer/deeper fin, such as a Tahoe SUP, fin contact may be an issue.
The mounting screws that come with the kit are only for wood. You'd think that for this price, stainless metal mounting bolts would be included or available as an option. I need to go to the hardware store and get some metal mounting hardware. My assessment is based on the lack of hardware as well as the cost.
They're sturdy, and I like how the straps keep the metal bars from scratching the board. The board is snugly tucked into the straps and makes no direct contact with the wall. This is a product that I wholeheartedly endorse.
