Questions & Answers

I just ordered a yellow wire, but it's showing up in my cart as orange instead of yellow, which is what I wanted. What color is it, and what is the name of the brand?

The color yellow must be yellow.

What are the line's tensile strength and thickness?

Our finger reels come with 24 thickness line that has a break strength of around 220lbs, give or take a few pounds. I wouldn't use it for lift bag operations or heavy-duty applications, but it's ideal for SMB and DSMB applications. br>br>HouseofScuba br>Frankie Gbr>

Is the Reel made of plastic, stainless steel, or something else entirely?

Strong and Corrosion Resistant ABS Construction, Engineered for Cold Water Glove and Bare Hands Reel is sturdy plastic with a standard large stainless double ended clip, 100 feet of neon yellow line

It's a good, low-cost finger reel, but it's made of brass and has a double end up being a little more compact
3/5

This is a nice, low-cost finger reel to keep in your BC pocket for SMB or similar tasks. br>br>As usual, there's a lot of line - I ordered the "medium 100 feet" size, and you couldn't get the double-sided tape to work properly. All of the spool holes were blocked, so I had to end through them. After all was said and done, I took some out and got about 40 useful feet out of it. br>br>The brass double-ended hammer is included in the package. ender is a smaller (about 4" - 5") and more "rough" in operation. (See photo attached. ) So, if you're used to the size of a 4, this will be a shock. If you have large hands and are using a 5" stainless steel, it may be difficult to manipulate with gloves on. br>br>An additional star was deducted because the product photo depicts a stainless boltsnap, despite the fact that the description states "brass. ".

For a SCUBA trip to the Bahamas, a no-frills finger reel was ideal
4/5

For a SCUBA trip to the Bahamas, a no-frills finger reel was ideal. High-quality, light-weight It was simple to roll on and off the reel because the vis line had no memory. Under water, the impact-resistant ABS reel performs admirably without being overly bulky or heavy. It's difficult to clip anything around the edges of the reel when it's completely full. If you want to reduce the volume, remove a few feet of line from the reel or use a smaller line; also, the clip that came with it wasn't brass, despite the fact that it was advertised as such. It did an excellent job of floating my safety sausage and marking navigational guides.

It's quite effective
4/5

I agree with those who say the reel should be a little bigger so you don't have to fight so hard to get the snap to fit into a hole. We've discovered that fighting the spooled line to snap the snap isn't worth it; instead, simply cut off enough line to expose enough of the hole(s) for easy snapping. br>br>I strongly advise you to purchase a second double-decker bus. ended snap so you can have one hooked to whatever you're floating (especially if you're dragging a flag) and another hooked to the reel (with the line trapped in it) and attached to a D-ring. ring your BC (with something like a lighter 10-cent piece) lb test fishing line loop (which can break away if necessary) so you can fish with both hands once you've reached a comfortable depth.

Has proven to be extremely dependable
5/5

As it is attached to my BCD along with the "dive sausage," this is part of the equipment I usually bring on a dive. I've had it for a couple of years and about 200 dives, but I've only really "used" it three or four times. Has consistently performed admirably. You should dive with a finger reel and a dive sausage, in my opinion. In my opinion, proper deployment of a dive sausage on a finger reel with a three-minute stop at 15 feet should be included in PADI open water dive training.

This reel is just like it says it is
5/5

For the price, it's a great product that does exactly what it says on the tin. I bought the 100' of line, knowing that I would only need about 75' for my SMB. br>br>Great product for the price. br>br>I bought the 100' of line, knowing that I would only need about 75' for my SMB. I immediately cut 25 feet of line and saved it for securing bolts, snaps, and other small items. After attaching the reel to my SMB, I made a loop at the end so I could pass it through. The holes are exposed enough for the bolt snap to snap into after the 25' of line is removed. br>br>As advertised, it includes a brass double-ended snap hook. Brass is fine for me because I'll be using it primarily in freshwater.

A full spool of line, with about 75 feet cut off so I could clip into the holes on the side
5/5

When all I want to do is put up a signal during my safety stop at 15 feet, this is a good enough reel for most dives I'll take. Takes 1- Inflate with two breaths. It isn't large enough to lift much, but that is exactly what I wanted. The large ones are too large to fit in the pocket of my BCD. I prefer my rig to be free of flappy snag hazards.

Not exactly what was promised- The clip is made of plastic rather than brass
3/5

So, instead of the brass clip that was advertised, this came with a double ended plastic clip. The clip does not have a thumb mechanism for opening it. It will clip "on" by itself. To remove it, however, you must first push the small metal piece in with your finger before attempting to remove it. This is difficult for me because I have smaller fingers; it will be even more difficult for someone who has larger fingers or wears gloves. Certainly not a diver who thought a clip like this was a good idea. We will be back!.

This was an excellent addition to my diving equipment
5/5

This was an excellent addition to my diving equipment. I can now sit at my safety stop and send a SMB message to the boat, informing it that someone is approaching us and where we are. br>br>Reducing the amount of time we spend waiting for the boat. It's simple to set up, rewind, and connect to your BC. Much better than some of the more expensive reels with spool locking mechanisms. Many of them have turned into bird nests, with divers working on them at the surface. This isn't the case. This is fantastic.
