Selected User Reviews For Pelican Ruck R60 Case (Tan)
Like all Pelican products, it's extremely well built. The R60 was purchased with the intent of mounting it on the kayak's rail or in a convenient location. Now that I've seen how well these are built, I'm going to order another of the smaller R40s to use at the beach or for fishing. And perhaps another R60 to use as a weatherproof storage case on top of my cooler.
This serves as a cigar humidor while I'm on the road. It really works. To maintain the proper humidity, I keep a boveda humidor pack in there. About 15 cigars, as well as my lighter and cutter, are stored in the large case. My cigars stay at the ideal humidity level, so I know the waterproofing works. These are slapped with a sticker from an American cigar company and sold for three times the price.
I wanted something to take on camping and golf trips where I wouldn't have to worry about my fine cigars being crushed if I was a little sloppy with my luggage. Although the case is bulky for internal storage, it is extremely well built and rugged, as are all Pelicans. The accessories are well-made and comfortable to wear. On the tray, I have a boveda pack, lighter, cigar tool, hygrometer, and a couple cigars, then 14 cigars of various gauge and length below. The case is overflowing, but not to the point of overflowing. Due to the label on the latch, I deducted a star. It's absurd to put adhesive on a label. I used a combination of hot soapy water, vinegar, and water, as well as WD-40. 40, and then GoofOff to remove any remaining adhesive. This is a high-end product, and having to go to such lengths to clean it up is absurd, especially for a redundant and unnecessary label. Everything about the case is fantastic, but the labeling needs to be addressed by Pelican.
When I go on vacation, I pack it with all of the small valuables. It doesn't hold much, but what it does contain is as secure as a fortress. I like the little separator tray that divides the space into levels, and the inside of the lid has a rubber 'net' to keep your cords and flatter items, like a wallet or money, in place.
It's well-made and does a good job of protecting what's inside; however, it's a little pricey.
The R60 is large enough to hold a few small electronics, but not so large that it becomes a nuisance. Pelican is known for its ruggedness and high quality, and this bag is no exception.
Excellent all-around storage for valuables or items that need to be protected from the elements. This is for cigars, which is why I bought it.
