In their rule book, you will find the OHCRA paddle specifications below. The following rule appears in the OHCRA website rule book on page 25. Definitions Paddles must be single bladed and may be made from any material except that it must "have visible wood in it," which may A bamboo fiber will be considered a wood by OHCRA. A paddle can be made with any construction method and can have a solid or hollow core. When participating in a race, additional paddles may be carried by each canoe
Ideally, the smaller blade is paired with the right length, you want to take a good bite, pull hard, and make a quick exit. Multiply that by hundreds or perhaps thousands of strokes, and you can see how important the size of the blade is. The paddle design web site contains a lot of articles. Selected User Reviews For Z&J SPORT Outrigger Canoe Paddle, Tahiti Hybrid OC Paddle with Carbon Blade and Wood Bent Shaft 12 Degree (S-9.1x18.5/M-9.4x18.5/L: 9.7x18.5)
I was sold by the fact that the bend was under $200 and that it was under $200. will not go into detail about how well it acts in the water or how well it actually performs. As soon as I received it, I knew that it was not suitable for my own use out on the water and expected to have to return it. I paddle with my team through a bay and sometimes venture out to the ocean for a couple of miles in water conditions that range from calm to very rough. This is a light ring, which is awesome, however, it still feels quite I received a paddle that had a visible crack going along the handle where the shaft meets the handle. Likewise, the wood there started splitting and had splinters sticking out in all directions. It is true that if you have gloves, you might still be able to use them, but I felt that using them would be too painful and fail to meet my expectations.
Balanced seems to be the best word to describe it. I used Silicone tape to fix the damage to the protective wrap at the joint between the wood and carbon fiber. The wrapping is a cheap plastic Shrink Wrap. Rough edges are evident on the blades. As I was cutting myself, I needed to sand off the surface with sandpaper.
Paddles costing twice as much as this one. They are equally well made and perform the same.
This is a great paddle, I broke one before I bought this, for that reason I wanted something durable. Neither the purchase nor the use of it have made me regret.
This paddle is great in its own right. Not waiting for almost a month to get it was not easy.
I found it to be effective.
This paddle is the best I have ever used.
