This is an amazing board. It glides and carves like a dream after a little tweaking of the trucks. It has the perfect amount of flex and is extremely stable. It easily handles my 240lb fat posterior, and I find myself leaning deep in hard turns, and the board responds quickly to even the smallest commands. My daughters have to yell at me to get off my board because they prefer it to their penny boards. But I'm concerned. On this thing, I'm acting 30 years younger, and it'll only be a matter of time before my arrogance has me yelling "Kids. " I've tripped and am unable to get back up! "br>br>It'll be worth every humiliating re-do. " informing at work:.
I bought this board on June 3, 2018 and had trouble removing the wheels and bearings from the trucks when I first got it. So I used tools to try to remove them so I could replace the bearings with Reds, but I only managed to get three of the four wheels off in the end. The right side of the front trunk was the only one that didn't move. I wrote a lengthy review for Magneto and returned the board, and Magneto, to my surprise, contacted me! And they said they'd send me a new board! br>When I got the replacement board, it had the same issue as the original. I contacted Magneto, who sent me a replacement truck, and the board now functions properly. Nonetheless, I replaced the bearings with reds, as well as the bushings and wheels with orangutans. The board now carves like a dream and has a new look! To get to this point, however, the board costs $130, and the Reds and Orangutans cost $95. The issue is that, while this product appears to be fantastic, it actually isn't. That's why I was so excited to get it. Apart from the deck, the rest of the components on this board are of poor quality. The bearings do not roll like skate bearings, the wheels are of average quality, the bushings lack control and squeak a lot, but the most frustrating aspect is that they do not roll like skate bearings. Some of the trucks were built according to incorrect specifications. You will not be able to remove the wheels and bearings. The right side of the front truck in particular! br>Because it is slightly cone-shaped, you can put the bearings on but not remove them. br>br>However, Magneto appears to stand behind their products, and the communications and customer service I've received from them thus far have been excellent! And it's exactly what I'd expect from Apple or Keurig. I had assumed that all businesses had abandoned their customers, so this was not a skateboard company. Magneto, on the other hand, I don't think so! And if you've read this far and still want the board, I say "JUST DO IT," because the deck is worth the risk of problems, and Magneto will be there to help you solve them. br>br>If you get it, try removing the wheels to make sure your board isn't affected as well.
This was purchased just over a month ago (April 13, 2020) and received just over a month ago. It simply snapped in the middle of a routine manual. I'm still learning how to ride this thing, so I'm not putting it through any unnecessary strain. It's literally just a regular manual that lasts maybe a second - CRACK! br>br>Then I tossed it in the back yard, maybe five feet away, and it was a serious toss, not a rage-inducing toss. throw. It landed in the grass on the side of the road that wasn't being used. It was completely snapped in half due to a cracked end. If you want to spend $130 on four hours of entertainment, this is a fantastic product. Magneto was contacted today, and I'm waiting for a response. I'll make changes if I get one. I understand that a bad product can slip through the cracks, so hopefully I'll be able to get some answers.
I'm new to skating, specifically cruising, and I have to say that this board was a breeze for me to learn on. I started with a 27. I tried out a 5'' mini cruiser but it was too small. I'm a 6'0" 190 pound man, so I needed something a little bigger and wider to help me feel more secure. The Magneto packaging is good, nice and compact, and the board is pretty much ready to use right out of the box, so I ordered the 38'' by 9'' magneto board, and it was perfect. I did pay attention to a couple of reviews about double-checking all the bolts to make sure nothing was loose, and I had to tighten the trucks and bushings (optional depending on how tight you like them). Aside from that, the board is pleasant to ride. PS: The bearings and wheels appear to be of good quality, but I'm new to longboarding and this is my first longboard, so I don't have much to compare them to. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> 9/27/18br>I've had this board for about two weeks now, and I've learned a lot. I got some new bearings (heady shake) and noticed a big difference right away. I also upgraded to bigger and harder wheels (bigfoot mountain cruisers) that made the board faster and smoother (76mm, 80a vs. 70mm, 78a stock). Now I can confidently state that the stock bearings are adequate and worth upgrading, especially given their low cost. In terms of wheels, if you want to ride faster, I recommend investing in some larger, harder wheels. I don't know enough about the trucks/bushings to form an opinion, but they appear to be adequate.
