These pedals replaced an older set of XTR pedals that snapped one of the axles nearly eight years ago. The first thing that comes to mind when looking at these are they seem The pedal is built to a high standard. The engagement is firm and easy, and the words are light. There is one problem that I encountered, however. The dust seals on both sides backed out after only 100 miles of riding. With my fingernail, I pushed them back in, but they immediately worked their way out once again. Though it is too soon to know, I bet that dust, water and mud will penetrate into the bearings and cause the pedals to fail prematurely. Upon a quick search of the internet, it is evident this problem is frequent and widespread A new pedal must be bought if the problem is known, but it is not a solution. My next purchase will be a set of crank brothers if these fail (as they will).
The best there is in the market. The product I ordered was exactly what I wanted. Compared to my worn out personal digital assistant, it looks like jewelry A Motorola M540s. This product is of high quality and I received nothing but what I I love it. I must have the same level of quality throughout my bike, even the one component that isn't Dura Ace. The problem has now been resolved. Yes, yes, yes. I have an expensive road bike with roadie pedals that I absolutely hate. We appreciate the good pedals you mountain bikers use. The hydraulic discs on my bike.
This is a very poor product. The company is aware of the issue. After 2 rides on the first pair of pedals and after 1 ride on the replacement pedals, the seal around the axle fell out. An axle seal is very important since it keeps dirt and grime from entering the axle. The Shimano brand is a huge fan of mine so I won't buy from them again until they fix the problem.
Unfortunately, the Shimano XTR pedals I received from Amazon still have the known design issue with the seals. I was hoping Shimano had fixed it for the new XTR pedals. What happens in most pedals is that, with normal use, the inner body of the pedal opens up along the circumference of the pedal spindle. This causes the inside of the pedal to be exposed to everyday dirt and dirt particles, which cause premature wear of the internal pedal It is possible to discover more information about this problem online. I returned the pedals I received from this listing because they had the known seal problem. XTR SPD pedals have a severe design defect, a widely known problem, but it is a rare QA issue by Shimano. SPD pedals are by far the best pedals on the market, but these XTR SPDs have this critical design defect. Shimano will have to act before I can proceed.
I paid full price for it, but it had been used previously. A new product is expected to be in its original packaging when I am paying new prices.
As long as I remember, Shimano XTR mountain bike pedals were my go-to in the 90's. Since I don't like the "duck walk" that comes with wearing road shoes, I even use them on my road bike. In the event that I ever break down my bike and must walk for some distance, I would much rather wear high-top mountain bike shoes than casual In any event, I'm sure that pedals have evolved over the years, but I just bought a new set for a gravel bike and these seem to be just as good as the ones I had before.
My recommendation would be to upgrade to the xtr (it might be worth it for a few dollars more as well) and I am sure I will keep them around for quite some time!
ONE My left cleat did not stay clipped in with the new cleats attached to my shoes regardless of the It is easy for the foot to come out on an upstroke. The old worn piece of cloth works flawlessly now that it's been installed.
Please do so if you fail to It is worth the extra money regardless of the cost. It is almost impossible for me to find a good pedal at a decent price. After about 500 miles, the pedals still look good as new. I ride about 600 miles a month and notice that those pedals need tightening often after a short period of time. I have used these quite a bit and they are in like new condition after 500 miles. I bought this truck through the rain and did lots of off-roading, and there wasn't a hint of rust. I'd definitely buy it again when I need it.
