Questions & Answers

Do you think this will work with Is it possible to display distance in kilometers as well?

The answer to both questions is yes. I would like to note that it is like every bike computer I have ever seen so far it lets you The wheel circumference (in mm) is programmed in as it is with most bike computers. If the instructions specifically mention a setting for 29" wheels (which I believe E. suggests), then I don't recall seeing it in the instructions. It does not matter what Garnett was saying, but that is what his comment was emphasizing. There is no limit to what number you can enter, as long as it works. 29ers are definitely included in that group The one I have worked with has worked with everything from 20" folding and BMX bikes to a 26" cruiser, a fatbike, a 29er mountain bike, and even a 29+ bike. not sure of the appropriate number, mark your starting place on the floor and push your bike out one wheel rotation.

Could this be used to power an electric bike?

The device attaches to the front wheel and measures revolutions to determine speed and distance. If the front wheel of an electric bike turns as it does on a peddle bike, then there shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't work the same way.

Are the dimensions of the computer the same as those of the television?

The dimensions are 13/16" high x 1" wide The 5/8" wide x 7/16" thick frame measures 29.25" wide x 10.16" All that's left of that unit is the computer. Includes the mounting bracket, but not the speaker.

The screen can display different kinds of information. Could you choose what information to display?

In the top 3 columns of the display, there are fixed lines Describe your ride speed, ride time, and ride There are two adjustable lines on the 4th line, an odometer and a This computer is not a choice type of machine where you can see any of the information you want, but it already shows most of what you want to know, just by displaying multiple lines This is because users can choose from multiple modes and submenus without having to scroll through them like many For more information than what the 5 describe, please do not hesitate to ask me. The Protege 8 is yours if you have 0 on your account. You can either take the nine or the zero. There are eight of them. Displaying the speed average and maximum in Mode 0 is the third way to display Once you reach the ninth, you will feel a sense of accomplishment. By displaying the temperature next to the clock on 0 (my favorite), you will also have the time. If the thermometer is in the shade, it will be accurate, but if it gets any direct sun, it will not be. One of the things that makes this so amazing is that the most important part is still left out. Distance and time ridden, as well as the current speed This means that the first two lines of information are ALWAYS visible, and the fourth line of information has only 3 options. Simple as that.

An overview of the basic cycle computer
5/5

Since Planet Bike Protege 5 was first introduced, it has been a favorite among bike enthusiasts. Having owned three of them, I know what they're like. A typical cyclist should be able to see information such as speed, ride time, trip distance, speedometer, and a Nonetheless, only four of the images are displayed at a time. A quick push of the device forward in its mount reveals Taking the Protege to the wheel is as easy as mounting it to the handlebar, routing the wire, attaching the sensor to the front fork, and attaching the magnet to a position close enough to the magnet to be effective. Until the sensor touches the last 5mm of the sensor as it spins it's finished except for the set-up. The battery comes with the computer, so you should install it and use the mode and settings You can set the wheel size and time by pushing up and down on the buttons. Slide the computer into the mount and you are good Easily set up, it's one of the easiest cycle computers. You can use this set up if you need it easier Here's a closer look at the more expensive wireless cycle computers. My recommendation for this product is to recommend it.

A bad job was done
3/5

Having acquired my initial one about 10 years ago, it still seems to be working well. As part of my second bike purchase this year, I also bought a second one. Many times, after riding my bike for a short period of time, the speed display went back to zero. I often had to adjust the bracket on the computer to make it work. My current issue is that all of my display information is zeroed out when I stop to take a break except for time and total distance. This problem also affects my wife on version It is the first time in a long time that she has a gift from me. In other words, there can't be any There is no doubt that these issues arise from poor There is a problem with the connection between the bracket and the computer. Planet Bike is the last company I'll ever buy from. Ideally I would like all results available on the same screen, but time and distance are on separate screens. I have only given one star to all information on one screen, as this is the way I prefer it (except for time and distance).

Information is available at a glance, and the user interface is simplified compared to other applications
5/5

Several of the PB Protege computers have been in my hands. There is no comparison to the other interfaces - I prefer it. The number shows up as The application allows users to view up to five pieces of data at once, significantly reducing the number of options that have to be scrolled through as they try to keep their eyes on the road. There are 5 of them. Scrolling through two choices is all that is displayed when 0 is selected (Sitting on top of the odometer are the current time and pace, with the speed, the trip time, and the distance displayed on the bottom). The system is simple and fool-proof. That was the one I purchased for my folding bike, which was a KISS grab-and-go. . . This is a pedal rig with coaster brakes, dynamo lights, and 2-speeds Drivetrain with a fixed number of speeds. This is another item I intend to buy for my son's bicycle. I want him to have his own computer, yet I don't want him to have to deal with all the crazy options of the Cateye Enduro computer I used to ride on. Please note that this computer does not display average or maximum speed, which a lot of people like to see. For that, you will want to upgrade to a model with an 8 GB RAM. It still is quite simple to scroll through them at option 0, which shows them on a third option. *By the way, I use the 9 for my mountain bike and main commuter rig. Because I prefer the temperature display, I rated it 0. It is a great computer, even though I have had a couple of them fail. One of them had a power surge that washed out the motherboard. My CatEyes have never given me this problem. Fortunately, the PB customer service is excellent. If your computer fails during normal usage, they will replace it for free.

The display has a good look and is easy to read when riding
4/5

However, it needs to be backed up. The Protege 5 has been with me since I purchased it. For 2 years now, there has been no money in the bank. By using the roll out method, the installation and calibration were fairly easy. Located on a Specialized Hardrock that takes a hammering every week, this software is installed and maintained. Using this unit, I am given all the information I need for riding a mountain bike. It is impossible to back up the memory, and in some cases, this is a big reason for not giving it 5 stars. When you take the battery out, the odometer needs to be reset, and any settings you had have been lost. It is a good idea to write down everything you need to do if you are going to replace the battery The info will be entered. Nevertheless, you are able to set the odometer to your liking.

This is an excellent bike computer
5/5

In my opinion, it's an excellent product. It's easy to install, fully functional, accurate, and at a great price. Even when I dropped it by accident, it still worked fine! It's far superior to the cheaper, more popular model.

Getting started is easy, using the software is simple, and viewing data is simple
5/5

My favorite part of this bike computer is the display. You can operate it so easily, it is much easier than the Schwinn 17 function Planet Bike is easy to use, as I don't need to reset the computer when I want to look at the data because it displays what I am looking for. If I want to see the other function (I most often do not), I push the bottom button and the bottom line toggles between two different functions (I cannot remember which functions), but it is simple to scroll through all five functions without having to remember a complicated series of button presses. For those who do not need more data, this bike computer is the ideal choice.
