Questions & Answers

Do you know if this will work in veil ?

The answer is no, I don't believe A similar kit is available on Amazon for Velo 5 and Velo It is likely that those models have a different mount. We can provide you with an expert response if you call Cateye.

Can you tell me how long the wire is?

Considering it is mounted on my mountain bike, it is hard to get an exact measurement, but from the sensor mounting on my fork and the zip ties routing up to the center of the handlebar bar stem on my Giant Roam mountain bike, it must be at least 24" long. So nothing pulls when the handlebars are turned since there is lots of slack in the mounting. It's important not to pull up on the wire when you remove the unit from its mounting. When removing the unit from the mounting for resetting, do not pull up on it as you slide Remove it gently by sliding it up and down. In the case of not doing this, the small tab on the mounting will break off and you will have to replace the whole wire assembly therefore, it won't work. It took me a long time to figure it out. There is a Velo 7 in my possession. You can depend on it to work great on

Are the rear wheels going to be covered by this sensor?

Wires that are shorter than 36" long are used. Therefore, if you want to mount the sensor on the rear wheel of your bicycle (not an exercise machine shaped like a bike) and the base on the handlebars of your bike, the sensor will not be tall enough and will probably be. There are some brands with wire kits with extra-long leads, but I don't recall Cateye having these.

I was able to get my Velo 7 to It is unclear why my Velo 7 computer stopped working after three years but it also happened for my wife's bike, because we bought both computers and bikes at the same time
5/5

When the bike was turned on I touched the two metal contacts on the back of the computer and it came to life. There are plenty of zip ties and a new magnet for the bike wheel included in this kit to replace the old wheel sensor and the computer mount on the handlebars. Buying a used computer was cheaper than buying a brand new one.

I could not get the software to work on the Velo It came with a sensor and wiring when I purchased the Velo 7 computer
3/5

Initially the sensors seemed to work fine, but during a ride the spokes dug into the sensor and The velo 7 computer display font has now become TINY! I installed the replacement kit and replaced the screen, but now the font on the screen This is unreadable. There must be a reason for the change in font size introduced by the replacement sensor. But it is now useless.

It is now working on my Velo 9
5/5

So thankful to not have to spend a lot on a whole There was no activity recorded by Velo 9's display, but it accurately displayed the time. Everything is going well now that this replacement kit is in place. All pieces required in the project were included, and instructions were clear and easy to follow.

This is the manufacturer's official replacement set
5/5

My Velo 7's parts kit was the perfect match to transfer to a new bike. They were easy to use (zipties, etc. ) and made transferring a lot easier. This means that they match the original sensors.

Works like a charm
5/5

While not as useful as the old Cateye Enduro 8, where I would use the A and B trip odometers to locate turns while keeping track of miles traveled on tours, it works just fine and can serve as a good backup for my other electronic devices. Even though the wire might seem retro, I've had other wireless versions of the device interfere with my other electronics. At a glance, it is easy to read. For eyes that are older, that's a good thing.

Has what it takes to accomplish its purpose
4/5

The purpose of the document is fulfilled. Allows me to easily transfer the computer between bikes so that I don't have to buy a whole new Velo 9 for every bike. Since the back of the computer mount was rather small and was failing in mounting, I secured it with a piece of old inner tube in order to prevent the zip ties from slipping off. It has been noted that the price for a piece of wire and a sensor is reasonable, but the end result is still worthwhile.
