Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with the Radmini 2019?

Please take the time to read the advertisement. It specifies the size of the seat posts that it will accommodate.

What can I do to keep it from moving or swinging around? Even with the inserts underneath, it still swings and sways. ?

It's possible that your seatpost is too small or that you're not tightening it down enough. If your seatpost is thinner, you should get a thicker insert, and you can also use 3m double adhesive tape to seal the gaps between the moving pieces.

Is this beam rack compatible with Topeak RX trunk bags?

It'll fit, but it'll be a tad too big. Choose the one that goes with the style of the rack. RX accessories are designed for RX racks, while MTX accessories are designed for MTX racks.

Big fail
3/5

Topeak products are usually my favorites, but this one is a dud. The most serious issue is that it will not fit on my seat post because it is far too large (the clamp, not the post). Worse, no rubber or other lining was included inside the clamp. That means it'll just be metal against metal. This also means that the thing would scratch the living daylights out of my pricey seatpost, and that there would be no way for it to stay put because it would just keep spinning around the post.

For my Hard Tail, it is extremely sturdy
5/5

I bought it to go on long (30 mile) bike rides that might include picnics and ocean swims, as well as 2000 feet of elevation gain, necessitating changes of clothing, sunblock, extra water, and other gear. Alternatively, I could do none of the above and ride to the store with a half-full bag. In any case, this rack secures my loaded MTX bag to the point where I forget about it. The only noticeable difference is in the handling of the bike; with more weight in the back, the front tire lifts more easily. This rack, along with a loaded MTX Trunk Bag EX, adds about 6 pounds to my ride; it's mounted to my hard tail, and I remove it when I'm not riding. There are some nasty bumpy areas on the road. It doesn't budge at all, but it's incredibly simple to remove when I need it. This rack is fantastic!.

Except for a few minor issues, it was mostly excellent
3/5

Because my road bike lacks mounting holes for a screw-in rack, I purchased this. Except for a few minor issues, everything appears to be in working order. 1. br>br> My legs rub against the clamp that secures the rack to the seatpost, which is extremely inconvenient, and I wish they had made the clamp narrower. I have runner legs, so they are relatively thin - I'd look into getting a screw-in rack if your thighs are very well-built.
2. This may be expected or nitpicky, but the DXP bag I bought to go on top of this has a few mm of horizontal movement because it doesn't mesh perfectly into the rails. As I ride, I occasionally hear a plastic clicking sound that makes me want to double-check that the bag isn't actually falling off the back.

The rack is well-built, but it could benefit from a few minor design changes
4/5

I received the rack the day before yesterday and rode 53 miles today with it. The rack served its purpose admirably: It didn't move around on the seat post and perfectly held the DX Trunk Bag. The Type E beam rack is the right size for a Specialized "medium" frame, but it should also fit other manufacturers' frames of similar size. I have mine all the way down on the seat post, and there is plenty of room below the rack for the rear tire. br>br>Last night, while attaching this to my bike and taking it for a test ride, I discovered that the quick release lever was rubbing the inside of my left thigh when my left leg was at rest. It was fine while I was pedaling, but I was concerned that if I stopped frequently, it would chafe. I could also detect a slight sensation on the opposite side. I tried moving the rack higher, but it didn't help- It simply rubbed at a more pronounced angle. I shifted my seat forward a little, but it didn't help much. I've started pointing the quick release lever nearly straight up. It's not ideal, but since I don't want to install a rack permanently, it'll suffice for the time being. There has to be a better way to design this system so that it doesn't rub as much. br>br>However, after a 53-mile ride, I must admit that I never noticed the clamp, but I was also pedaling the majority of the time, and the rack never shifted once. Despite the fact that the bag was not overloaded, the rack felt extremely secure. br>br>Getting the quick release lever to close is a pain, especially the first few times you use it. It was necessary to properly "set" the rubber shims. I rubbed some light oil on the underside of the quick release lever where it makes contact with the cap it tightens against, and that helped a little. Still, if you want your rack to stay put, you'll have to put a lot of effort into it. I don't think an allen wrench will help, because when you try to turn the bolt with the wrench, the quick release lever rotates. Regardless of these minor flaws, the rack is well constructed, and the DX bag fits snugly. It's tougher than it appears, but don't go over the weight limit. Also, only use it on metal seat posts-- It could easily crush a carbon fiber post, in my opinion.

The product is of good quality and is simple to set up
4/5

Excellent quality, simple to install, attractive design, and a variety of heights (to accommodate a variety of wheel sizes, tire/fender clearance, seat heights, and other factors). What's there is simple, clean-looking, and sturdy; all I wish for is a stronger post clamp (as an option) that uses two socket head screws instead of the quick clamp, as well as some sort of strut-supporting mechanism. bracing on both sides to aid in rigidity To help keep the rack in place (so it doesn't swing left or right as easily), it has a weight carrying capacity. I'd happily give this rack 5 stars if those two items were available (at least as options).

The rack is perfect! Exactly what I needed! br>I'd like to express my gratitude to Topeak for providing this rack
5/5

This rack perfectly meets my needs for carrying light weight items such as groceries, yoga mats, beach towels, and other similar items, and it is extremely easy to install. For my sit post size, I went with thinner pads because they're lighter and, of course, go with any Topeack bag. It's simple to remove the securing rope and use it to keep things secure. br>Here are some photos of my bike with the rack attached.

However, it is very functional
5/5

They're on my bike as well as the bikes of my children. I like how versatile it is and how light it is. However, because the slide-in tray is made of plastic, it is not rigid enough to hold the wire basket, which is quite wide and easily pops out of the track. I used security torx (M6 x 30 mm on thin seat posts and M6 x 25 mm on thinner seat posts) to replace the over center lock down for added security. After my son's bike was stolen from his locked bike (death to all thieves! ), I decided to make a video (pitch is 1 mm).

It's quite nice and practical
5/5

For my E Mountain Bike, I purchased the Topeak QR Beam Rack MTX, which has a 30mm seat post. 9mm, and it's a perfect fit. Because this bike has dual suspension, I did not order it with side supports. I also purchased the Topeak MTX Trunk Bag, which attaches to the rack by sliding and locking. Very nice, high quality, and simple to put together.
