Questions & Answers

What are your options for mounting it other than the wall Are you familiar with Topeak's bike racks?

In addition to the track adapter that Topeak sells, your existing rack can be mounted with this device. Here is what I did on my email There was a built-in battery on the rack, which was another selling point for the bike. With the adapter, I can use any bag or bag/basket that is made by MTX.

Are there any Topeak rear racks that fit it?

The cargo carrier is good for casual use
4/5

It should be placed in a stable position so it doesn't fall over. This basket has been with me for more than a month and it has proven to be a useful place to throw things I don't want to (or can't) carry on my person. I can just throw my laptop bag and bicycle lock in there versus fussing with bags and straps and leave the house without a worry. My expectations were met, as I thought it would be just as handy as my car's backseat. As it was so large and my Trek 7 was so slim, I was concerned about how it would look proportionally. This is a really cool design. I found it to be large enough for as little as The topeak basket's ability to slide on and off the rack was one of the reasons I choose this rack and basket. I like the idea of being able to carry things from or to the bike. But the bike can't be easily slid into its track unless it's mounted to something. The following complaints have been made My lack of understanding from the pictures was that I would not be able to swing my leg over the rear wheel as usual to get on and off the bike because of the height of the basket. As a result, I had to learn a new technique (move my knee over the crossbar near the stem, then lower my foot I wonder if this might be an issue for people who have certain kinds of joint problems? Wire handles are not the best way to describe them. They should be considered decorative. Even just supporting the basket's weight appears to be difficult. Due to my habit of carrying the basket by its top rim, I took it off. In addition to being too heavy to carry around, the basket also has a lot of weight, so do not bring it into the grocery store or When the basket is loaded up with a non-solid base, it wobbles a bit because it's so tall and wide (and heavy) It's a trivial amount of work. The (plastic) mounting bracket continues to hold it firmly in place. In spite of this, when I have a bag that's heavier than my laptop bag, I tie it down with a couple of bungees for additional security. Just to keep things from falling out of the open top, I would have done that anyway. Additionally, the basket is so tall and heavy that it causes a strain on the shoulders. This might not be a good idea, especially if you have a gallon of milk inside Tipping over is a greater risk with this bike. I may be able to work with you! As far as safety and handling go, it has not affected my bike in the least when I'm on it. As a result of a month of riding, I am just learning not to be careless when I stop the bike. When I'm behind the wheel, I've got both hands on the brakes and I'm extra cautious Getting on and off the train should be done carefully. As a result, I no longer see it as If I were to ride this every morning and at night through a crowded city street, my opinion might be different. It might have been better if I had used panniers (which sit low to the ground). My first thought was that it was strange that the basket and its mounting bracket were separate retail items (even though they were Moreover, I was very disappointed that the bracket was made of plastic as opposed to something more durable. I'm _now_ convinced that the system is designed so that if anything breaks or bends, it will be things like the $15 piece of plastic, which consumers can easily replace, and not a $45 basket or something on a The basket and the rack did not suffer any damage when I fell over a few times, but the bracket needed to be replaced. You can address a complaint in another review by do not believe the wire mesh of the basket is weak in any way. Even after falling over a couple of times, none of the items have been bent or broken in this month. As a matter of fact, I really like the wire design of the basket in general. Lights and reflectors can be attached at a number of points, and there is quite a bit of bungee cording in the set A friendly person. Whenever I park my bike at the commuter rail lot, I just feed a lock cable through my helmet and the basket to tie it to my U-lock The basket and helmet will then be secure with a lock. I am very pleased with it even though I fell with it on my bike. It was my dream to have a "rear seat" on my bike that I could drop things into and take off without stopping. I find it much more useful and enjoyable to ride a bike with a basket.

Though the basket has enough space and the mount is great, the mount for MTX is not good
3/5

A good, solid construction is used for the basket. There have been a few complaints about the handle rattling, however it is designed to snap tightly over the lip of the basket in order to prevent As for the handle, it is a bit uncomfortable to hold since it is so hard. Several reasons account for the three stars, but the primary reason is the size of the basket. Whether it's for a run to the farmer's market, a trip to the store, or to hold jackets and lunch on a picnic, this basket is a great choice. There are a few disadvantages, however, such as it interfering with the seat and it cannot be locked in On both a hybrid street bike and a cruiser style bike with Topeak MTX racks, this was done. This was solved by purchasing longer rack arms (see image) and mounting the rack tipped back so the basket can engage with Due to this, the bike becomes more tippy when the basket is loaded since the weight is distributed behind the rear axle. If the basket had been designed with a larger cutout to fit under the seat, it would have been more practical. When this basket is installed into the Topeak rack, it fits perfectly, so I can only guess that the engineers did not take this into account. In light of a few trips and a spill, we have determined that the rack needs to be level and we will have to find an alternative solution, possibly even a front mount basket and losing the rear rack altogether.

I think that it's a great rear basket, if you can fit it
4/5

I installed the rack in the lower of the two threaded bosses on my bike frame, the place usually used for fender mounts. This allowed it to fit on my average-sized hybrid bike. In addition, I shifted my saddle forward by one Pedaling my butt through the basket gave me just enough space for the basket to fit under the saddle without interference, as well as allowing my butt not to hit the basket. For a closer look, see the photos Ups of the The height of the basket, as well as the height of the basket and rack. I have found the basket highly effective once it has been installed. You can slide it on and off in a moment, and there's a handle built into the basket that makes it easy to carry with you when shopping. As well as the basket, I bought the Topeak cargo net, which would keep all the items in the basket tangle-free.

This basket is perfect for anyone who commutes to work on their bike and runs errands while riding it
5/5

I wish I had purchased one years It's been 6 years since I last used the bike rack, and I just used bungee cords to secure my backpack to it. Since I bike everywhere and also like to buy groceries on my bike, this basket has changed my life. It's so great to be able to fill up the basket and not have to worry about how to secure it to the What you need to know - Getting this release to work is easy. There is no restriction as to what bike you can fit it on if it is too close to the seat, you can move back the rack. You just need to be realistic about how much weight a basket can support (about 20 pounds). There is only one negative aspect of As soon as the basket is loaded with more than about 10 pounds, the basket falls off easily and you cannot use the basket (if it is loaded more than that, you need to hold onto the side As I've used it hard every day for over 14 months, it is finally starting to show some wear, but I definitely plan to buy another one when it finally gives out.

I like the basket very much
5/5

Keep in mind that smarter thinking is the key. The basket is great to use, as long as you aren't a goofball. - I attached it to my seatpost clamp, but it was too close at maximum extension, so I had to get the extended arms only. You don't have to worry about it anymore. All of them sell arm-curled seat post rack adapters but complain about how close it is to the seat when they curled the arms at 90 degrees. In the first picture, the extended arms are about an inch from max extension, while in the second picture, they are just a fraction of the longest.
