purchased it to go on a wild cave excursion and it was wonderful. It was perfect for cave tours because of its low profile. In addition to being comfortable, it also held up well against abuse. Safely held in place, it kept me from harm's way. It is recommended. All my buddies were duck tapping their headlamps to their helmets as another big storm rolled in. In general, the quality of the material and the distribution of padding on the helmet are satisfactory, but the shape and shape of the helmet cause a lot of complaints. During my rock climbing career, I have used this piece of gear quite a bit. The hat is comfortable and lightweight, comparable in quality to the ones twice the price. It does sit a bit high on my head, but like I said, who cares this isn't a fashion show! Does the job it should in protecting your dome.
In a cave I wear it for protection, because it holds a headlamp and keeps my head from hurting.
I was impressed with this helmet. My first time caving wasn't particularly adventurous, so I didn't realize how important it would be to wear a helmet. Having my head supported me when I bumped my head twice was a blessing. could be adjusted easily, so it stayed in place the whole time we were there.
It can be adjusted to fit a wide range of head sizes and is extremely well built. My purpose for purchasing this helmet is to use it for training and search and rescue climbs. This helmet will give me an adequate level of protection from rockfall and other climbing hazards, so I feel confident wearing it.
During a spelunking camping trip, I used this. Over the weekend, I spent all of my time in the cave. My head is small and the helmet fits perfectly after being adjusted (I have a small head). did not have to adjust my headlamp throughout the weekend (that was important since I was using it as my main source of light). Helmet is excellent for spelunking, would highly recommend.
Provides some protection against the sun and wind, but it is uncomfortable to wear.
