Questions & Answers

What is the recommended size range?

Hello,br>br>For sizing information, please see the table below. Small/Medium Medium Largebr>48-Small/Medium Medium Largebr>48-Small/Medium Medium Largebr>48-Small/Medium Medium Largebr>48-Small 19cm / 57cm 5in 55- 5cm / 22- 24in

Is it possible to separate the plastic from the hardware/foam so that the shell color can be changed or painted?

We cannot recommend any modifications to protective equipment because the components of this helmet are not meant to be separated (except for the foam comfort padding).

Is there a camera mount on the helmet?

I use an elastic mount that fits over the helmet instead of a traditional mount.

Adventure helmet by Black Diamond! This was purchased primarily for use on high ropes courses and massive zip lines
4/5

I was pleased with the reasonable pricing and prompt delivery. Because Black Diamond is the industry leader in protective helmets, I knew I was getting a good product when I bought it. br>br>The fit is comfortable and fully adjustable, allowing for a custom fit. I really like the color scheme of caution orange. It also includes accessory mounts. It's also very light and pleasant to wear. br>br>The seller was the only drawback I had. This brand new helmet arrived with what looked like climbing chalk all over it and in the box it came in. There's also a white mark on the back of the helmet that I can't seem to get rid of. I would have returned the helmet to the seller if I hadn't needed it for a upcoming trip. If a supposedly new helmet isn't in brand-new condition, it shouldn't be sold on Amazon. It was a poor decision on the part of the seller to send this helmet to a customer in such poor condition. br>br>I'd suggest the helmet, but not the particular seller.

Helmet is fantastic
5/5

Purchased as a means of defense during the exploration of underground mines. When it arrived, I put it on my head and attached a Fenix HM61R with strap. br>br>I'm really impressed with how well this helmet fits and looks. I went with the blue model, and it's exactly what I expected. br>br>Helmet is well-made and comfortable, and I like how the headlamp strap is held in place by tabs. Last weekend, I wore it underground for about 6 hours and had no issues with discomfort or poor fit. On a couple of low-hanging walls, I managed to keep my head from exploding. Please keep in mind: br>br> If you're an adult, I strongly advise you to choose the Med/Large size; I tried the Small/Med size because my measurements were in that range and the helmet sat far too high on my head. I switched to the Med/Large model, and the fit and adjustability were ideal. br>br>I would highly recommend this helmet at this price.

A huge blunder
3/5

The new black diamond helmets appear to be in good condition on the outside, but they are a complete failure on the inside. Because of the thick hard foam, they sit high on your head. It won't offer nearly the same level of protection as the previous model. The new rear adjustment is not secure; it now pivots from the temples, causing it to wobble. Because the front sweatband is cheap and velcroed to the front, there is no front venting. BD, you've made a major mistake.

Your Noggin will be safe
5/5

This helmet was purchased to keep my head safe in the event that I fell while hiking. I've recently begun to take blood thinners. My foot slipped on a recent hike, and my knee landed on a rock, not too hard, but it swelled up a lot because I'm on blood thinners. It is still not back 100% after five weeks. My doctor advised me to stop hiking, which is something I enjoy doing for landscape photography. I inquired as to whether or not wearing some protection on my joints and head would be acceptable. "It will be beneficial. " As a result, I searched the area and discovered this helmet. " Black Diamond is known for producing high-quality items. I use and enjoy their trekking poles (except for the tips, which keep falling off). Yes, it makes me look like a knucklehead when I'm hiking on trails. But it's better to look like a knucklehead than to not use it and hit my head, which could be fatal. It's a perfect match. It has a tightening mechanism that allows you to adjust the fit to your preferences. It would, in my opinion, provide adequate defense. However, it appears that it becomes hot inside. For what I do, I would recommend them. However, I am unable to discuss rock climbing protection.

The color of the "rain" isn't right
4/5

In the photos, the "rain" color appears to be white with black straps, but it is actually a light baby blue with dark blue straps. br>br>I needed a plain white helmet, so I returned this one. They should probably update their photos.

Only serves as a light bump deterrent
3/5

I feel like I'd be doing the book a disservice if I didn't write a review (which is surprising given how few there are). none on this helmet)br>br>The first thing I noticed about the helmet is that it is made of very cheap light plastic. If you're going on a long climb and don't want to carry too much weight, this is probably a good option. I think it's two. Only the top of your head is protected by foam padding, which measures 5mm thick. (Think frontal bone to lambdoid suture)br>br>The harness is made of a nice well-knit fabric. It's made of webbing and has a comfortable fit. The helmet has some sway while still being well secured on your head, which I imagine is great for maneuvering in difficult places while climbing or reducing trauma if you bump. One thing to keep in mind is that the helmet sits a little higher on your head than you might expect (at least the top does). br>br>This helmet, in my opinion, has a very limited application. (See, for example, Climbing, mountaineering, and rescue) and unfortunately does not apply to me. I needed something with a lot more versatility. purpose.

It has a good hard shell
5/5

For the past four years, I've been using a previous generation Half Dome. It was subjected to a great deal of mistreatment - Hundreds of big days cragging, doing first ascents, being crammed into a pack with 40 pounds of gear, etc. During all of that, I burned through eight ropes, three harnesses, a pile of draws and gear (and countless TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style TC-style Pros, oh no). The helmet, on the other hand, has held up admirably; however, the hard harness straps have begun to bend and kink. br>br>I replaced it with this generation, and I'm very pleased with it so far. I prefer it over the previous model in a number of ways - The harness is more stable, the straps aren't as tight around the ears, and there's a little more ventilation. I like how it rides, and I often forget I'm wearing it while climbing. It's too early to tell how well it will stand up to my abuse, but it appears to be of high quality and rugged construction. br>br>Half Domes are a little on the heavy side, but I've yet to find a light helmet that I'd trust to take the abuse I dish out. By the way, according to my scale, this new helmet is 1/2 oz heavier than my old Half Dome. The shell, like the old Half Dome, is fairly thick, and I am confident that it will resist penetration by pointy objects.
