For the price and my needs, these carabiners are fantastic! For my hammock, I purchased these
5/5

When I go camping, I use a DD Hammocks Frontline XL. I built a hammock stand because I can't always find two trees that are the right distance apart. I attached one of the carabiners to each side of the stand, and I use whoopie slings for my suspension, so I hook one of the end loops of the suspension to each of the carabiners for quick setup and take down. Despite the fact that I would never use these for rappelling or rock climbing, they are perfect for my needs. The spring is simple to use with one hand and is strong enough to support a hammock. I used loops made from 1" wide polyester webbing to attach one to each side of my stand. The webbing has a tensile strength of 1,500 pounds, so the two of them together can easily support my 225 pounds. For transportation, my stand is divided into four sections of approximately four feet each. So it's not backpackable, but it fits perfectly in the back of my truck or the trunk of my car, and the webbing allows me to transport and set up the stand with the carabiners securely attached. I'll be buying four more for the same price I paid for them very soon. I can think of a number of applications for these small but powerful carabiners.

Carabiners that are both light and strong
5/5

I bought these because I wanted some high-quality carabiners but thought the rock climbing gear was overpriced and too heavy for my needs. Most cheap carabiners, I've noticed, are extremely weak for their size: if they're rated at all, it's only to withstand about 200 pounds of force per ounce of carabiner. Carabiners for rock climbing, on the other hand, are rated to withstand over two thousand pounds of force per ounce. These Vanwalk units are less than half the weight and about a quarter the price of traditional climbing carabiners, but they claim to be just as strong. I don't know if that's true, but they're a lot stronger than the cheap stuff and should be fine for anything that won't overload paracord. br>br>I bought a four-pack of the wire gate model and another four-pack of the screw lock model (both in black). I weighed them, and they're exactly as light as they claim to be: Each wire gate unit is 7 ounces (20 grams) and weighs 1. Each screwlock unit weighs 0 ounce (28 grams). Unlike most inexpensive carabiners, they have the same three-dimensional curved shape and reinforcing ridges as climbing models. br>br>The wire gate spring tension is moderate, but not so much that it is difficult to open. It does not appear to be easily broken, popped out of place, or twisted out of place. I believe the screw lock is made of aluminum and is a little squeaky. Because aluminum is a soft metal (in comparison to steel), the threads may be vulnerable to damage if sand gets into them. Nonetheless, the screw lock appears to be well-made and operates smoothly, with good stops at both ends of its travel range. br>br>Overall, I think these are a good deal for everyday use, including securing moderately heavy loads - Hundreds of pounds can be spent. Just don't count on them to catch you if you fall while climbing because they're too light.

Worthy! However, it has not been tested for climbing
5/5

Please note the following disclaimer: I'm not a climber, and I don't use these. I didn't see many people climbing with these in the majority of the reviews. Instead, there are about 1001 other things you can do with these amazing little gadgets. Initial thoughts: br>br> br>br>These are smooth to use and appear to be high-quality items. The screw is quiet and precise. The gates' joints are smooth to operate. I've seen some YouTube videos where people strength test these made in China carabiners, and they consistently outperform the rated amount, indicating that China can produce these items efficiently. They appear to be doing something right in this instance. This carabiner differs from the $1 carabiner in a significant way. You can find them in the shops for $00 each. The operation goes without a hitch. Your rope or fabric will not be chewed up by teeth. br>br>Will this thing be able to support my 200 pounds? Yes, I think so. But, then again, I'm not a big climber, and having faith in your gear is crucial. Because your life is literally "on a line," I recommend that you try these items out first with gear and lower drops and then make your own judgment.

Approved by the Fat Guy! I bought these to use with a hammock and was a little worried that they wouldn't be able to support me (being a larger fella) because they're so light and appear to bend out of shape and break, but these things did the trick and held up great with no sign of stress, I literally put my life in the "hands" of these carabiners and lived!

I'm glad I went with these instead of the previous ones
5/5

I've been trying to lighten my load, and these caribiners for my hammock have been a godsend. After I (finally) field-tested them, they're incredibly light and stable. today they were put to the test My hammock straps are no longer snagging, and the hammock is as light as a feather in my pack. There was nothing more I could ask for. br>br>After the 'biners that came with the hammock began tearing the nylon straps I use to hang my hammock, I upgraded to these. They're half the weight of the others and don't have any sharp edges. I'd be perfectly content to spend the night hanging from these things.
