The plywood was mounted to the studs using 1 and 1/4" plywood, which was then screwed to the plywood using the screw-in type. These games were a great fit for my sons, who are 6 and 7 years old. Since the bolts would protrude from the back of the plywood, I would think it would be awkward to bolt them to the plywood then screw the plywood into the studs.
Ideally, they should be used on flat surfaces, but if you use long enough screws, it may be possible. It would be appropriate for the back plate of the telephone pole to match the curve of the grips so that they are flat to avoid stress and breaking over time.

I think it was an allergic reaction to the chemical, or they had no idea how it worked. No problem if they are meant to be used outdoors, but if you intend to use them indoors, you might want to look elsewhere.
Those look like real rocks and feel like them as well. It's a great alternative to playground equipment for my two year old. I hung them on a slight slope, and some bigger "jugs" were mixed in. They were all very gritty when I opened the bag. This playground was built for my kids, and to install such a place underneath would be great for my eldest son and myself to boulder. While playing on my phone, I thought I'd climb underneath and get a workout in at the same time. I weigh 180 pounds and have been hanging from each one individually for 5 minutes without any cracking or issues. Currently, they work well for me with 1/4 screws and washers. They did not come with any hardware, but 1/4 screws worked for me in the past. The kids have been playing outside with them for more than a month now with no problems. I'm probably gonna buy some more because my other kids are always asking to crawl underneath since they keep watching me do it, but I spread them out too far apart.

This means that they don't exist but they certainly look and feel like they do! My expectation was that they would be lighter, but they were heavy Rather than the plastic colorful look of others, these offer a natural look. I highly recommend it.
I'm really impressed by how nice and quality these are. For our kids, I prefer earthy items rather than bright plastic items, and these were perfect for their playground. They're real rocks, in both appearance and feel. There was a good variety of shapes in the package. We screwed them into our wood 4x4 beams without any issues. A second set of thongs has just been purchased.
