Questions & Answers

Our hiking trips often require us to climb on rocks, and the rocks tear up your hands. Our gloves are torn on the fingers too. Do these gloves ?

For the past two years, I have worn the Petzl Cordex gloves while camping, hiking, and orienteering, and they have held up quite well. I spent a week scrambling around on rocks in the White Mountains for 6+ hours a day in July of this year and the gloves are still in good shape. In other words, I am confident that Cordex Plus gloves on this page will live up to their advertised quality As opposed to the Cordex gloves I have, which have additional leather across the back of the hand and fingers, these gloves are designed to provide heavier duty protection-- It is likely to hold up at least as well as or even The Cordex Plus gloves I ordered yesterday will be delivered by today, so I am sure to know soon!

The gloves are available in four sizes, but how should I size them?

As they sweat/get wet, they stretch out. I have found that when I clean them and air dry them, they do shrink 1 size. But after a few hours, pushing them around, they stretch back to their original size. Their size can be matched to your usual snow/outback gear

Does this product come with a size chart?

The (x-) on this page. The small, small, and the medium are all small in size. The like.)

Will these, if left in a sailing environment (water, salt water), survive?

My experience with these gloves is adverse, as I use them when climbing towers above 80 meters, which causes them to stretch when wet and sweaty. Using them five to six days a week for an hour or two, the glove starts falling apart after about two months when using them five to six times a week to climb

There must be some factory rejects here A good deal of effort went into these
3/5

may have loosened up with a good break-in, but that thumb is something else! Whom did they model these after? Was he or she deformed in any way? It was impossible for me to open my fingers completely because of the XL. The thumb webbing on these is just weird. I am not sure what it is for or if they messed them up really badly. The two will go back in either case.

This pair of gloves seem well made
4/5

I bought them to wear while working. Those who suggested the medium size led me to order that size. It's always hard for me to buy gloves when I normally wear "Large" but when I buy some brands I can wear "Xtra Large" this is very frustrating. The medium fit really snug, but I suppose that's a part of life?

So I guess it's part of life. Dexterity is not messed up and not enough to mess up dexterity They are comfortable after wearing them and After just a few minutes with them, they will most certainly relax. Those look well made to me. The only way to tell is with time? Only real problem I had with these, is they were a bit slippery. That was something I did not anticipate. As I said, I bought them specifically to use as "work gloves" & My wood mall didn't work when I hit a particularly hard spot in the oak log, causing me to stand on end, and I finished splitting. Because the gloves were so slick, the whole thing managed to twist in my hands. It surprises me that they come like this, since they were meant to be climbed? As you can see from the updated images, I thought these would "stretch" a little I bought them in medium after reading other reviews, but I can't seem to get them to fit properly for my hands. It would have been better if I had gone Having said that, I have used them for handling logs and firewood, and I have been extremely pleased with them. There have been some improvements since the slickness began. I have been pleased with how well the stitching and stuff seems to be holding up In order not to "abuse" the gloves, I have to keep them well oiled.

You are tough and amazing! My team of 12 includes rope rescue techs and I supervise them
5/5

All I use for rope work are these gloves. These gloves are sturdy and hold up well to normal wear and tear while still giving me a lot of dexterity.

The gloves are well made and look nice
4/5

I was not overly impressed with the comfort of this glove out of the box, it took a good break in period before the finger tips were There is no problem other than the pinky finger being too long, but this is a well-made In my case, I wear a large glove and ordered a large size. The initial fit is tight, however once broken in, it loosens up. This glove is a good deal for the price.

The gloves for rope handling are of excellent quality
5/5

In the training I have been doing over the past few months, knot tying, rappeling, belaying, and other rope skills have been taught. Our gloves must meet high standards, so we must use gloves made from premium materials It is well padded, sturdy, and dextrous. The friends of mine who exchanged durability for cheap work gloves with well padded tops found that they could replace them more easily by buying cheaper gloves without much padding instead. My decision to buy a more expensive work glove with goatskin leather and reinforced palm, based on their claims of durability, made sense to me. In spite of the fact that the gloves were dextrous, I was able to feel the rope friction on rappels and, on a canyoneering trip, I burned holes in my fingers within the first Petzl presents the Cordex Plus Midweight gloves, K53 Cordex. Due to their doubled up leather over the fingers, I chose these over the Petzls that are lighter. It is surprising to see how nimble they are, especially given the amount of leather around their As a matter of fact, I can actually tie knots faster thanks to the leather snagging less easily. *br >
The leather so far has not suffered any damage. Even after a day of rappeling, I did not feel in the least fatigued. There were no signs of fraying in the stitching and the seams were all intact. Hopefully I will be able to provide a more detailed review once I have worn these gloves more. It's hard to tell if it's really a rope if the palm of your hand is heavily padding. It's nice that the padding is so effective, as I did a quick rappel with no pain at all. The lack of feeling in the palms makes me worry about when I'm tired, cold, or numb - the padding would have been great in this case. When rappelling on a thinner rope, this is especially true. Although, as long as the brake pedal is in proper alignment and you maintain the appropriate position, you don't need the most firm grip. Only one other thing I can say about this glove is that because of its great fit, it makes putting the gloves on more difficult especially if they I wish there was a little elastic at the wrist so that you can open the glove up and get your hand in from the side.

A design that breaks in easily, with reinforced areas in the correct places
5/5

I like the way it feels. According to the recommended sizing chart, I fell between the Med and S sizes. It would have been better to go with a Medium since the glove would fit snugger as opposed to the I had little trouble breaking them in on the first day, but they broke in better after that. I have been working with ropes for the past eight hours each day, and I am happy to say that they have maintained their quality. The design is comfortable and a great buy.

Do you think it is deliberate that the thenar webspace is not as deep as it could Does the thenar webspace part of the glove have such a shallow depth? We have all found that the gloves do not fit all the way into the thenar webspace, including myself, my daughter, and my granddaughter
4/5

Why does a climbing glove need to have this feature? It's okay that each finger sits in its own webspace, but not between the thumb and the.

It was a great tough product, but it didn't work It was a great tough product, but it didn't work An issue with the size of the index finger and another with the stitching was frustrating
4/5

The gloves are tough and you'll not find a tougher pair around. First it was probably the wrong size, but overall this is one of the toughest gloves you'll find. I was impressed by how awesome and durable the shoes were.
