Rain flies are everywhere, aren't they? What sets this one apart from the rest? This tarp is made of a very durable material that is also light in weight. A reinforced seam runs down the middle of the tarp, where the ridgeline would be, so that if a cord were to run across the top of the tarp, it would not add any extra weight or hassle. A bag for the cordage and stakes is included in the larger bag for the tarp and fits within it. The bag does not come in a typical "bag in a bag" situation where you have to figure out how it fits in. There is a spot in the middle of the tarp where you can stake your tent. Here's a picture of the tarp in its stuff sack size compared to a set of Eno Atlas Straps and an Eno Doublenest. AWESOME NEWS!
After a torrential downpour, I slept in my hammocks on the AT and found both to be dry the next day. My rain fly in my pack makes me happy, and I'm proud to have it in my pack The following update has been made since 8/2018 - (Week 1 of a year later) This is STILL working great for me and keeps my clothes The tarp is exactly as shipped and still works as advertised. I have added high visibility lines to it, but it is otherwise the same as it came. I was still able to camp dry and happy!.
The number one reason a rain fly should be waterproof is so you will be protected from the elements. This rain fly is well suited to that purpose. I could definitely tell this was a higher quality version than the cheaper ones, but I think how it held up in the rain was the true test.
I was particularly impressed by how well the tent protected at the top and bottom because of its size. Even when the wind picked up, it was still very effective. The fact that the accessories work so well with this tarp is another thing that sets it apart. All the stakes will be held down by aluminum, which I like. The thicker steel one is far more durable and stiff than the thin steel model. A ring made of sturdy plastic to hold the cord in place is also a nice touch, since it will prevent tears and rips at the most commonly-used points of the post. This is a quality product that comes in a box and does what it is supposed to. It would be a good idea to.
We can't wait to take our MSR Hubba Hubba camping this weekend with this! Perfect for our front porch modification on our MSR Hubba Hubba! The stakes and ropes that came with the tent were of high quality and light in weight. I am super pleased with this product! We just experienced the severe conditions of the monsoon this past weekend. As a bivy, this tarp saved us from getting wet and cold! An updated photo has been The configuration of 1 is now complete. Quite cute, I must say. However, as a separate bivy, it offers much better value for your money. We are looking for reflective rope to replace the rope that comes with the kit. It's handy, but it's extremely dim in the dark.
Everything seems to be going well so far! The only worries I have had with it are that I have set it up in the rain without having any issues It doesn't leak)! As for the only place water drips, it comes from the fabric around the seam, but it isn't a problem since it isn't a leak. It's just that the edging is of a different type of As of now, no water has dripped on my hammock. The snow even beaded up and rolled off after I sprinkled a liter of water over it! This tarp was able to fit under my double hammock without any issues. There is ample time for it. This hammock tarp is wider than most hammock tarps that I've looked at so far. Adding an extra layer of The price is reasonable and the product is worth every penny.
This hammock is larger than most on the market at a realistic price. *Great for large hammocks. The hammock tarp is made of a good quality material, some say that it is thicker and heavier than other hammocks. Yet not so heavy that it is not suitable During the period of July 16 to 18, the Suwannee River tested for rain December 18, 2017. * Despite 3 days of the weather being disgusting, I stayed dry and comfortable. The photos show the full coverage (Check out the photos).
My first camping trip with this tarp took place this weekend, during which I used it for three days. I had a great experience with it! I stayed dry all night in my hammock the first night out there even though it was raining and sleeting (picture above is the next morning). My canopy is on a continuous ridgeline attached by prusik knots, which I rigged up before I went out because I knew it was going to rain and that I wanted to get it set up fast. Since I'm not a fan of the guy lines that come with this kind of gear, I replaced them all with paracord and was very satisfied with the result. When the rain and sleet started on the first night, the winds were also 20 kilometers per hour. The same applies there as well. The only thing I will say is that at some points during the night it rained and I felt This might have been the result of a number of There may have been two factors 1) I may have not placed my tarp low enough in comparison to my hammock, so rain was splashing up from the ground 2) there were 20mph winds that may have been an issue. It was my fault that I forgot to check the seams in the morning to see whether anything was wet. My first experience with the tarp was with a rainstorm not windy. I'll need to post an update down the road after having used it in many different weather ONE OF THE PROS 1) The coverage is very comprehensive. 2) Durability (so far)
3) Price
CONS
1) Tie outs. There are six tie outs on this tarp, two along the ridgeline and four along In the case of such a large tarp, I would appreciate an extra tie-out at the center of each side to give more stability, especially at night. This would also allow you to configure a few more aspects. Having read some other reviews, a lot of people seem to add their own, so I may look into the DIY option, but if the maker would do it, I can't complain. This is an excellent tarp for its price! I will update this review a few months from now when I have used it more often.
