Questions & Answers

I need good shade from the hot sun to cover my camper and prevent it from getting damaged by the UV rays. Do you think this would work for your ?

In this way, the sun will not be able to shine through. Be sure your tarp is large enough to cover the roof of your camper. My only concern is that the tarp will eventually degrade due to exposure to the sun. Any tarp or cover you use will suffer this fate. The same purpose can probably be served by a blue tarp from a discount store for much less money. Although the AquaQuest tarp is a great tarp for camping and backpacking, its cost and quality may be a bit excessive for a shade tarp.

Is there a strap and peg included with this? My tarp and bag just arrived in the mail, but I really didn't need anything else. Nothing is attached to the computer. ?

Whether you purchase the tarp or the full set will depend on your needs. If you buy the set that includes the straps, you'll have to pay

Could you please tell me the size of this? Sizes are listed for so many different types of clothing. ?

There is a 10' x 7' area.

What is the manufacturer of this tarp?

A lot of our gear is designed and tested on the rain-soaked west coast, and is made in our own facility in Taiwan.

There is an odor of chemicals coming from the Aqua Quest 10x10 Safari Tarp
3/5

The 11th century I am providing an update for 2020 In the past four weeks, I have hung the 10x10 Aqua Quest Safari Tarp in my hot garage which has significantly helped dispel the smell. As a result, my rating for this product has been increased from 2 to 3. The River Country Products Hammock Rain Fly or Camping Tarp are odor-free alternatives at a fraction of the price of other brands. As it is only 8x9 feet, there are some of the ties that it lacks It doesn't offer as much protection as the Aqua Quest, but it works exceptionally well for the price. If I keep them, I'll keep both For backpacking, the River Country Tarp and the Aqua Quest for car camping / base camping are both appropriate. Aqua Quest's tarp has a clear advantage over River Country's tarp for people who want to use it occasionally as a tent, though the heavier Defender Series would prove more durable in that regard. The original review was published on 10/20/2020 In reviewing and cross-shopping similar products afterwards, I had high expectations for the Aqua Quest Safari Tarp, after watching and reading many product reviews. The quality of the stitching, how the seams are sealed, and the large number of ties impressed me I like how the material feels on the outside as well as the inside. The tarp ensured I had a safe and comfortable stay for a total of five nights on my second backcountry trip. My consistent problem with the tarp is described in the following review. There is a persistent chemical odor that started as a mild chemical odor I hoped would go away. In an attempt to air my tarp out, I laid it out in my living room, but the smell became so overwhelming throughout my house that I had to remove it and let it air out outside. I could smell the scent of the tarp for days afterward in my furniture. The tarp was washed twice in my bathtub and initially seemed to be effective. Nonetheless, on my first camping trip two weeks ago, I woke up every morning with headaches after sleeping under a tarp for three nights. At altitudes similar to or higher than that of tent camping, I rarely experienced headaches. As a result of rechecking I decided to take it on a second camping trip after thoroughly immersing the tarp in my bathtub, draping it over my car in the intense summer sun, and staking it multiple times outdoors in the sun. In the mornings, I again woke up to a headache because the tarp was elevated high above my hammock and there was a gentle crosswind blowing. In spite of the fact that no part of the sleeping bag was within 24 inches of the tarp, my sleeping bag smelled like Even hours after the odor was gone, my sleeping bag It is difficult to believe that the tarp's odor will be completely gone by the time I re-install it. It has been outside 24 hours a day I've left my 7 in the sun for over nine days and it still smells. The tarp is smelling but seems to be working well in spite of this, but it hasn't been through a heavy downpour This is DISCLOSURE In general, I am more sensitive to urethane & polyurethane Remove adhesive from a surface There is a greater risk of gassing than in some cases. As I found with the multilayer foam mattress I bought in 2018, my skin was sensitive, as well. Several months after buying the mattress, the odor dissipated and I was able to sleep on it with no I don't have an unusually strong sense of smell, other than volatile organic solvents I am probably about average for a man in his 50s, and most women possess a stronger sense of smell. The following is Disclosure As this is my first silnylon tarp, I do not know whether the Aqua Quest has a better or worse smell than others. If the tarp had been allowed to off-gas, I suspect it would depend on how much urethane was applied and the type of urethane used The shipment must be gassed before it is shipped. In my opinion, inexpensive cottage industry tarps have less odor than their more expensive counterparts, which may partly explain their high cost.

I am indecisive Several more days will be required to complete it - You may want to expose yourself to the sun to determine the severity of the odor. An even smaller tarp of $20 square is waiting to be delivered. The Aqua Quest tarp will be returned if it smells fine. A NOTE BEFORE I GO As a result of being submerged in my bathtub for many hours, the Aqua Quest tarp - which took many hours to dry - took some time to air out Drinking water - The disadvantage of nylon is that it tends to bog down more readily than The material would probably not be penetrated as thoroughly by a rainstorm as by submerging it. It seems that silpoly tarps are a little heavier than silnylon tarps when they are dry for the same thickness, but I do not have any expertise in this area. A wet tarp is very heavy. There are a number of long distance connections Water resistance and low weight are two reasons packers choose Dyneema tarps, but they are incredibly expensive. For weekend campers, nylon could be a good trade-off between cost and quality, but there is some odor associated with it. Buildings are given five stars based on their quality. Due to morning headaches and terrible odor that transferred from the bedding to other fabrics, the hotel was docked three stars. Make sure you are careful when buying! If you don't plan on airing this tarp out before taking it on a camping trip, then you should not take it.

The AquaQuest is the best investment you can make I am glad you got what you deserved
5/5

My 10 x 13 in camo would have been more appropriate for Adirondack and other Shelter configs. I wanted a different square design with some tie outs in the middle of the area for the Adirondack or other shelter configurations. Well, it's kinda pricey, but take my advice and get an Aqua quest tarp -- it's worth it. From someone who has gotten wet taking advantage of bad tie outs and bad sealing jobs, this tarp is indeed the best. Aside from that, you can cross "tarp" off your list when you get it. In fact, the 10 x 13 Aqua quest is big enough to cover an 11' hammock AND have doors on both sides (but the weight is higher). *Not a paid reviewer on Amazon.

The tarp is good overall
4/5

The loops were constructed and attached well. This material is lightweight, waterproof, but has a long lifespan. There would have been some improvement if some patched reinforcement had been placed in certain places of the tarp where a pole or one of its supports was put. If you want to use extra socks, or any other soft material, just make sure your pole tip is comfortable. The pole tip of my tarp bag is topped with an old, slot cut tennis ball so the tarp is protected from wear and punctures.

Lightweight, waterproof, and resistant to the wind and rain
5/5

Using the 13 x 20 as a cover for my patio canopy frame in the back. This kit made installation so easy with the evenly spaced out tie outs. It was very easy to assemble. In addition to being lightweight, it is very durable. The canopy repels heavy rain and doesn't seem to be affected by wind gusts of up to 40 mph A 50 mph speed limit. My hunting backpack is equipped with a 10 x 10 shelter that I have used numerous times to shelter from the elements. It's my experience that these tarps are exceptional quality, so I rate this as superb value since you get what you pay for and in this case this is the best light weight tarp available at the moment.

I have no regrets about buying this tarp
5/5

I think this is the best tarp I have ever owned. It is a good balance of weight and durability for Swiss army style You can use the tent fly (shown in the picture) or a tarp tent for bushcraft purposes. The tent is big enough for 2 people to use in a tarp tent configuration and you can cover 2 hammocks with the right pitch if you are next to each other, but for one person it's ideal. With this tarp, I will be hiking long distances with ease, and I will be getting a 7x10 guide to go with it. Definitely a top notch Aqua Quest experience!.

Solo camping is possible with this tent due to its size
4/5

Tarp is made of decent materials and is fairly lightweight. According to my scale, the sum of the weights in the sack is only 1lb 2oz. Solo camping is possible with this tent due to its size. One of its downsides is that the material appears to sag a lot more than poly coated nylon as well as Other downside is the incomplete reinforcement of tie outs on the long sides (corners, top, short) and lack of reinforcement of tie outs on the short sides. If you pitch the tarp as a mid, it stresses the length of the middle, long side loop, which is just attached to The tarp is great overall. It is exactly what I envisioned. The shelter has already been used at least five times and even protected me during a thunderstorm up in the mountains. I would rate it as five stars if it had at least two more reinforced patches.

My camp setup has been upgraded thanks to this awesome piece of gear
5/5

This was a bit worry for me given how well it would stand up to rainstorm after rainstorm. It has done exactly what it is supposed to do so far. We purchased the 13 x 20 and it keeps our campsite (tent, kitchen/eating area) completely The waterproofing has proved to be both durable and complete so far. The crew has already been through a few challenging storms and come out on top. I would recommend it.

This is a good tarp with plenty of tie-out There are a lot of points of contention
5/5

All weak points are reinforced with extra stitches. This bag's size, weight, and space saver characteristics are all very good. appears to be heavier than the guide, but it seems equally durable and should last a long time. The quality on this tarp appears to be top-notch.
