As well as for rain, the Bear Butt rain fly works great in a downpour. Rain will not get into the porous roof, so equipment or people under it will not get wet.

A friend of mine was assembling a hammock camping setup from scratch and ordered this tarp for him. This tarp has a few drawbacks, but it has an incredible price and is a great value for the money. It looks really nice and goes with other products well. I purchased the gray and orange version. As well as two stakes for tying it down, it comes with all the necessary line. Due to the fact that I bought my own paracord before realizing that it was included, I haven't included any pictures. I would recommend this tarp to anyone who is considering starting to hammock camp but does not want to spend a lot of money right now. Here's what I like about it. On the way home from camp, a rainstorm rolled in around 30AM. My buddy kept completely dry in a decent rain. Exactly what it was supposed to do was done. It didn't seem to leak at all the water just rolled off the seams. It can only be used for one layout (the diamond setup pictured). Those are a couple things I do not like. As far as I am concerned, there are no extra grommets or tie offs (I prefer a configuration with an A frame). It is composed of rather thin materials, which is good for backpacking and its small pack size. However, there is no guarantee on how durable it will be over time. The Kelty Noah Tarp 12' is the tarp I personally own, so that's what I am comparing. The only other criticism I have is that it should be a little larger. Although this is great for an entry level laptop, I prefer a little more room. Finally, I would like to add these thoughts It is very easy to set up and pack away, and it looks great. I would definitely recommend this product. Criticizing the product does not mean I dislike it it's just my opinion of the way I would prefer it to be.
I really like this idea. My spouse and I just had a 6 day camping trip in the Adirondacks using one of these. In the last three days, it has rained three times but I have stayed There is barely a gap between the trees that was as long as my ENO hammock, so using this the "proper" way was actually a bit too long for this use case. In this test, I spun it 90° and laid it over my hammock, and the shorter span was 4 inches longer on both ends. It kept me dry in pretty heavy rain so I imagine if it was oriented the proper way, I would have been even more protected. *The edge of the fly is made of silver reflective material all around, and the paracord provided is made from reflective material woven into it. I found my stuff easier in the dark using this tool. Great product and at a great price. I'm tempted to get a second just to make sure I have one when this one fails, though it seems rather durable so that won't happen for a while.
For overnight backpacking, we bought two of these so that they could act both as a rain shield and as Bear Butt also provided us with many excellent bug nets and we are also highly impressed with them. I actually purchased the Hammock Bliss Sky Tent 2 all in one tarp & bug shield before ordering these. We then discovered these Bear Butt tarps and bug screens and my wife convinced me that having separate pieces is better than having them all in one package. The first thing I would change is to remove the bug screen in the winter, so it is just an extra piece of weight in the all-in-one. It would also be simpler if it was only possible to replace the bug screen or tarp, instead of the cumbersome all in one, if it were to wear out. Furthermore, I can use this tarp for other purposes such as keeping a late frost off my newly planted garden, which I plan on doing in the coming days. This one worked again after a couple of nights. The first night, it rained outside. Not a heavy downpour, but a steady drip throughout the night. It didn't rain on either of us. There is an ENO double nest hammock and a generic brand hammock purchased from Amazon that is almost identical. There was a tarp over both hammocks that extended beyond their ends. Hanging my paracord is as simple as looping two of the four pieces of paracord around each tree and utilizing the reinforced holes with my own carabiners, as it is with the provided pieces. As for the tensioner, I used a separate tensioner since I couldn't figure out how to use the included tensioner. My search for instructions ended in failure after searching YouTube and Bear Butt's website. The hanging is still a challenge, so I plan on purchasing some Zingit and Dutchware hardware for future trips to speed up the Besides the two tent stakes that come with this tarp, two pieces of paracord are also included so you can secure the sides with them. As before, these held well, but I will use Zingit, shock cord, and Dutchware in the future to simplify things even more. My wife hung her hammock tarp on a continuous ridge line, which was a much better setup than the alternative (look on YouTube for instructions on how to rig up a hammock). One continuous ridge line consists of a line strung between two trees, and the tarp is hung over that line and tightened to it. This method is excellent for hanging our tiny lanterns, bear spray, glasses, gloves and even an purse under the tarp. A ridge line would need to be provided by you since these tarps do not come with a line long enough for a continuous ridge line. We are extremely pleased with the quality of workmanship and materials used in the build. As I mentioned above, I returned a name brand set up and purchased two tarps and two bug nets for the price of one! All of the corners are reinforced and appear to be Buying this product has been a very satisfying experience for us.
In watching the videos and reading the descriptions, I felt confident and had a good handle on what I needed In the event I did have any trouble setting everything up, it was just as easy as the video described. My cover was quick, effective, and quick to put on and take off. I remained dry (no rain, but kept the bird crap off of me), and had just enough cover to change and sleep. It was my first camping trip on a motorcycle, so the size of the packed hammock was a significant consideration. I like it because it fits in a saddlebag, and it's small and fits all the hammock pieces. The fly I bought is very satisfactory to me overall. I am grateful for the #BearButtTeam.
The overall weight of the tarp alone is 387 grams, and two aluminum stakes and a set of lines are 86 grams each. A value of 1 is equivalent to this. There was a total weight of 04 pounds. In the morning of November 11, There are 42 square meters in one square meter. A tarp alone weighs only 6 grams per square meter, which is a very low weight. It is reinforced at the eyelets and double stitched along its perimeter.
