Questions & Answers

Is there a set of stakes included? Is there anything else that needs to be done before you can start?

It includes aluminum j hooks rather than heavy-duty camping stakes. For set up, I didn't require anything that wasn't already in my bag. For the sake of strength and visibility, I will eventually switch to an orange 550 cord.

Is there a grommet in the tarp's middle? Is it for the purpose of supporting a shelter? Is it just the tarp's edges that have them?

There's one in the middle, making a total of nine.

Is it possible to fold it into a square for storage purposes? It'll be used on the ends of our camper. ?

It comes with a small stuff sack that is simple to fold up and store. I haven't worn it in the rain, but it works well as a wind and sun shield. It can cover more than a hammock depending on how it's set up.

Beware- This is not a waterproof product
3/5

This tarp saw action on three backpacking trips with me. The first two trips were pleasant (because it did not rain), but the third trip had rain for all four days, and I awoke in a puddle of rain each day. I secured the tarp and double-checked my work, but the tarp isn't waterproof in the first place. It's light, looks nice, and comes with a bag to store it in, but none of that matters if it can't protect you from the rain. Instead, spend your money on a good tarp from ENO, REI, or hammock gear, and don't be disappointed on the trail. This item is not something I would recommend.

For the money, this is a fantastic square tarp! This thing is like a duck when it comes to shedding water! In less than 5 minutes, I was able to set up three different configurations
5/5

The stakes are small, and the cords are long and woven with reflective material. I wish it had 1/4-length ties around the perimeter for added versatility, but most tarps this size don't even have the half-span and center ties that this one does. Because we are expecting a lot of rain, I bought this to throw in my pack for an Alaskan moose hunt. Glassing from a mountain ridge in the rain will become a dry, enjoyable experience rather than a wet, miserable one! Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please.

On this site, one of the best
5/5

It's not as light as Dyneema, but it's well-made, will withstand abrasion far better than Dyneema, and the whole thing is well-made. The stitching is good, the paracord is reflective, there are four alloy stakes included, a thicker nylon strap is folded and stitched around the entire perimeter of the tarp, the corner straps are reinforced, and the grommets are set in the corner strap loops so they don't rip out like every other junk tarp out there. This is without a doubt one of the best tarps on Amazon, and it costs less than half as much as anything comparable. The corner straps on most other junkers aren't even close to as good, and they cost twice as much. This is an excellent tarp; well done, ARAER.

A high-quality, light-weight shelter with an emergency back-up plan
5/5

up,,,. It was a rain storm on the first day that hit Camping park with high winds and damaged the Family Tent, so we needed this Shelter/Tarp, it's a fair price, and it was placed outside the Family Tent damaged at Camping park.

On our trip to Kodiak, Alaska, he SAVED the day
5/5

Due to weather, we were dropped off by float plane in a different location than planned for a week. We had to walk a long distance to find fresh water that wasn't contaminated by beavers. The first night, we found a creek a mile away for water. So we set up this tarp as a rain collection system to filter the water out of, and it held over 5 gallons of water during one rainstorm. We were able to pump water from this tarp and have fresh water for the duration of our week-long trip! br>It's tough, waterproof, and relatively light (larger hunting tarps are lighter), but it's thick and sturdy. I really like how many tie down spots it has because it made setting up the rainwater collection system a breeze.

Camping tarp of the highest quality! During the months of December and January, I borrowed a friend's tarp to use as a wind and rain shelter while painting
5/5

It was exposed to 40 mph side winds, torrential rains, snow, and ice, and the method I used to secure the tarp chafed some of the waterproof coating, so I had to buy him a new one due to my carelessness. br>br>As for the tarp, it was in perfect working order. There are no seams to pull on. rips, tears, holes, fading or loss of gromets, and this thing was subjected to a lot of abuse over the course of two months! The weatherproofing chafing was completely my fault. I kept the old tarp because it still sheds water beautifully and is 100% structurally sound. br>br>I wish I had had a few of these when I was backpacking and winter camping! This tarp comes with a lot of parachute cord, connectors, four aluminum corner stakes, and bags to keep everything together. Anyone who camps, hikes, backpacks, or goes out in bad weather should have this. In virtually all four seasons, it serves as a very light shelter, ground cloth, or emergency shelter. Awesome!.

I'm very happy with the tarp
5/5

At a campground in Florida, I used it several times as a tarp over the cooking area. We are known for having severe rains and gusty winds in the blink of an eye, and this structure has withstood several severe downpours and gusty winds. It completely shielded the equipment from the rain and proved to be of high quality. Winds were rough on the seams and eyelets, but they held up. It's relatively light weight compared to the blue tarps available at Walmart; I'm pleased with the purchase and considering ordering another as a backup or for additional shade in the Florida sun.

The first time I used it, it was ripped apart
3/5

When this tarp finally arrived, I was ecstatic. It's light and versatile; I used it on a backpacking trip and it was great at first; it was easy to carry, set up, and provided good shade. However, it tore in the wind on the second night of use. The entire tarp ripped straight across one entire side, rendering the tarp useless after just one trip. I attempted to contact customer service but was unable to locate a phone number or email address for this organization. What a waste of the warranty that was advertised! If all you want to do with this tarp is lay it on the ground, it will suffice, but it isn't a "tent tarp" or "hammock cover. " Save your money and invest in a long-lasting item.
