Questions & Answers

Is it pre-filled or comes with lighter fluid?

Hack for the great outdoors: In lieu of lighter fluid, you can use camp fuel: Simply make sure that any excess liquid is completely evaporated after filling the container. At high altitudes, liquid fuel is preferable to butane. Such lighters are no longer available in conventional stores.

Is this a polish that resembles a mirror? Would I be able to see my reflection in it accurately if I wanted to use it as a mirror as well?

This hefty-weight The Armor duty Zippo lighter is made of highly polished chrome. You could use it to signal someone by using it as a sun reflector, but it's not a mirror. I strongly advise you to invest in a small rectangular travel mirror with a padded case. I bought this lighter for emergency use and keep it in the glove compartment of my car, refilling it with Ronson lighter fluid on the first of every month. If I ever got stranded in a snowstorm, severe rainstorm, or other bad weather, it was a small price to pay. If you contact Zippo Corp., you will be able to learn more about their products and services Bradford, Pennsylvania, United States They'll gladly let you know if they have a mirrored finish front Zippo lighter in stock, or they can make one to your specifications for an additional fee.

Is this a genuine Zippo?

Yes, this is a genuine zippo from the United States of America.

Is there a matching pattern on the sides and front of the linen weave model?

That's correct.

Because it's a Zippo, you know it'll be a good quality lighter with that distinctive "tink" when you open it. After living with this for several months, I'm reminded of the old adage "they don't make them like they used to. " I had a 45-year-old example of the same lighter that I didn't want to lose, so I bought this one instead. It isn't of the same caliber. It's close, but it appears that they use a slightly thinner metal to give the lighter more body flex. When closing the lid, it frequently collides with the flame guard and comes to a halt. It simply does not have the same heft as the previous one. br>My next step will be to look for used Zippos in local thrift stores. These days, demand is low, and prices are reasonable if you avoid dealers who cater to "collectors. " You can get a used lighter for about the same price as a new one, and it will be more durable.

A classic can't be replaced
3/5

My 1984 High Polish Chrome Venetian Zippo's hinge had recently separated from the lid after many decades of daily use, so I ordered a replacement. I could tell this 2018 High Polish Chrome Venetian wasn't the same quality the moment I touched it. Rather than being machine tooled, the pattern was laser etched. The metal is almost half the thickness of the silver nickel chrome and is made of a lower-quality chrome covered brass. In the hand, it feels light, cheap, and flimsy, and I seriously doubt it will last even 10 years, much less 35 years, as its predecessor did. br>br>And the other reviewers are correct: the wadding is a loose, fluffy synthetic material similar to a cotton-like material. The light-weight ball does not hold nearly as much butane as the heavy-weight ball. Zippos from years ago were crammed into the felt. You'll be lucky if you get two days out of it before you have to refill it. A different Zippo I bought in 2016 had the same issue. br>br>On the whole, though, it's not a bad lighter. It's a lighter, to be sure. If you haven't owned a classic Zippo before, you'll probably enjoy this purchase because it functions and serves its purpose while still looking good, even if it isn't of the same quality and construction as its predecessors from the past that gave Zippo their reputation. br>br>However, if you're like me and have previously owned a classic Zippo, skip this item, even if it's the exact same model, and instead scour pawnshops, flea markets, consignment shops, vintage boutiques, estate sales, and antique shops for a replacement without numeral dates stamped on the bottom.

I WAS DISAPPOINTED BY THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT
3/5

To the nth degree, I am a Zippo aficionado. I was overjoyed to be able to order this Street Chrome Zippo to replace an old one. When I went to fill the barrel, I was completely taken aback and suspicious when I noticed that the felt pad had carved a large concave shape into the barrel and that the scree was sticking up higher than usual for a Zippo. When I lifted the pad up, I noticed that the rayon filling beneath the felt pad was severely lacking. I looked in my listing for a "contact seller" option but couldn't find one; The only options were to return or replace the item. I didn't return it because I needed the lighter for holiday travel, so I filled the barrel with my own extra filling. However, I was incredibly disappointed. This is the first time I've ever had a Zippo of poor quality.

The fuel is evaluating itself far too quickly
3/5

When I was a teenager, I had a Zippo lighter that was quite effective. I have no idea why I threw it away. Perhaps it suffers from the same issue as this. This is only good for a day's worth of fuel. I bought it so I could use it to light my stove and start campfires when I went camping. From now on, I'll only use regular disposables. They have a higher level of trustworthiness.

WindProof is a brand new invention from Zippo
5/5

Today is the first time I've ever used this - We went to the cemetery to pay our respects to my parents, and because we are of Chinese descent, we burned a lot of "offerings. " That is, we burn paper representations of our deceased loved ones' money and material possessions for the afterlife. br>br>anyway, I had a tiny butane torch that was a pain to refuel and was temperamental, especially on windy days - I tried kitchen butane lighters as well as regular bic-like butane lighters, but it would go out with even the slightest breeze. br>br>so, for these occasions, I purchased a Zippo 'windproof' lighter - and it worked perfectly. It wasn't a hurricane, but it was windy enough that I would have had trouble with the various butane equipment I mentioned earlier. I fired up my new Zippo, which I had pre-charged the night before, and it performed admirably - my incense is burning - Even when the wind was blowing in different directions, it stayed light - It lasted about three hours. I was able to complete the task in 4 minutes with no difficulty. I also lit the candles. br>br>I chose this brushed chrome 'design' because nothing is more elegant than a simple zippo, and it's well made. It's also made in the United States of America. br>br>The missus is on board as well - I don't smoke, so I have a happy wife and a happy life. br>br> I do, however, use a zippo to burn offerings.
