The reviews for this lighter were not accurate. It's difficult to use it to light candles. It also doesn't last very long after being charged. Very let down. Since this is useless, I've gone back to using regular lighters. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> The seller got in touch with me and expressed his desire to make things right. I bought this for my wife to light scented candles because it has a long reach and I don't want to waste any more fossil fuel or plastic by using single-use lighters. However, this lighter is in no way comparable to traditional lighters in terms of performance. 1. br>br> Because the "arc" is so short, it's difficult to aim it over a candle wick without either terminal touching it. The arc vanishes when one of the terminals comes into contact with the wick. It's a very small sweet spot.
2. It can only be switched on for about 20 seconds at a time. After that, you'll have to wait for it to cool down before using it again. With a regular lighter, it would take a long time to light one of the three wick candles. Because of the short arc, small sweet spot, short duration, and overheats, a simple process must be followed. freaking- ever.
3. We used it to light candles for about five nights before it died after a week. Because of the carbon buildup on the terminals, I assumed it was filthy. I tried wiping it clean with a dry rag, but that didn't help. The battery indicator indicates that the battery is fully charged, but the unit does not produce an arc. br>br>I'm very disappointed with this product; I thought I'd be helping the environment by using a product that produces zero emissions and uses renewable energy, but instead we created more waste; we'll just use matches from now on.

I'm using it to light candles, just like it says. The device functions normally, with the exception of the following failure mode: It breaks down every now and then. Switching the light on and off It doesn't help to turn off the light. I've only been able to get the device to work again by plugging it into a charger for a few minutes until the battery life indicators blink through the power-on screen. Progress has been detected. It only takes a few moments. br>br>One possibility is that it stopped working due to some sort of short circuit detection to protect the device, as it frequently appears to happen when the arc tip gets too close to the candle wick (but still fails to light the candle). Perhaps if I was more patient and waited a few minutes, the device's self-protection would time out, but I'd rather light the candle than do more experimentation, and I'm not sure if waiting longer would work. br>br>Because it's still at 4 out of 5 lights, I haven't had to recharge the battery yet. This failure mode has occurred a total of four times. 5 times. It annoys me. br>br> This also means I won't use it if I don't have access to a charger. When there's a power outage, this isn't ideal for lighting candles. Unless I bring a portable USB battery with me to reset the device, I won't be returning it. br>br>It's usable enough that I won't be returning it, but this is disappointing. br>br>Edit to add: when the battery charge status was at 3 out of 5 lights, the short-circuit protection would activate almost every other use, so I ended up keeping a USB battery pack next to the lighter to reset it. After this became irritated, I fully recharged the lighter, and even though it's set to 5 lights, the short-circuit protection has never activated in the dozens of times I've used it. Instead of waiting for the battery status indicator to go down to 1 or 2 out of 5 LED lights, perhaps the best way to use this device is to fully charge it the first time the short-circuit protection kicks in. It's still a little irritating, but it's bearable. The second edit is as follows: br>br> This was something I was doing with Yankee Candle products. I recently purchased a candle from Village Candle, and I believe the wick material is different because the Village Candle candle is much easier to light. There have been far fewer resets so far.

I've previously ordered and received a rechargeable candle lighter from Amazon, and it was fantastic! Unfortunately, this one has such a small gap that it won't even try to work unless your candle is brand new and your straight socks are brand new. . . after a second of being on, the width of the thread blocks it and it turns off automatically. Especially when the candle has an uneven tip of the thread from multiple reuses or long burning (it curls up a little) and you can even get it in or near so it can actually light it up. . . br>Had to cut the thread, turn on and off ten times, and get black residue all over the lighter to light one three wick candle. . . Because it doesn't do what it's supposed to do, it should probably cost 5 times less. . . I'll be returning it. Thanks.

When I first turned this lighter on, it worked fine, but after about 20 seconds, it stopped working and would not restart unless I put it on charge (as if this reset it in some way, as the battery appeared to be fine)- So I figured, oh well, it's probably a safety feature. It had been sitting on my desk for a month, unused except for the initial test when I bought it, so now, a month later, I went to use it to light my grilll; and it wouldn't even spark, so I charged it, and after several tries, it finally worked, and that was the end of it- Lights from batteries don't even turn on. I would have preferred to have the company replace it and give it another chance, but Amazon informed me that the return window had closed, leaving me with no choice but to write a negative review, which appears to be well-deserved. This is a product that I would never recommend to a friend.

When I go to use my gas lighters, they are always empty. The Ronxs lighter is a fantastic product. Always prepared to blow out a candle (or several candles) on a birthday cake! I'm very happy! It can also be recharged!.
