Questions & Answers

In what way is this better than the ?

In the original version of Blast Match, the rods were thicker. Furthermore, the rods were secure and did not move inside each other.

What is the warranty on the ferro rod? Does the ferro rod need to be replaced?

The warranty may or may not be void, but I know the rod cannot be replaced. Although it is expensive, it is well worth it. Despite using it over 200 times, it still has plenty of life in it

The flint bar can be replaced, but does it last long?

The Blast Matches I purchased are intended to go in my Bug-Out Bag in case of an emergency Aside from the "Out Bags", there are several were to build fire three times a day, every day, it would take a few years to wear the device out. The feeling I have Even if a person carries one around for a lifetime, it will never wear out. I believe it is not possible to replace the strikers in these because of the way they are assembled. In addition, I don't believe there is any flint in the iron striker, as it appears to be exclusively steel and cerium impregnated. Besides that, I want to point out that. A SHOWER of hot sparks is thrown by this device. To catch the sparks, I carry cotton balls soaked in Vaseline in the same bag. No matter the weather, you'll always have a fire!

Do you have a keychain I can use this on?

You won't find a key ring or place to put The key ring is a little too large and heavy for a key ring, as well as being a little heavy.

In some cases, it is difficult to determine whether quality control is in place
3/5

After watching the YouTube video, I decided that a match blaster would be the best option. As a family that spends a lot of time outdoors, we all know how important it is to be able to build a fire no matter what the weather is like. At first, this was just another handy device to use in addition to matches and a lighter, and it seemed to be a valuable thing to have in an emergency situation. In addition to six for Christmas, I bought two more. The flint bar bounced around inside the package when the first one arrived early. One more order is being placed so that this one can then be returned. 2 out of the 3 presents we received had the flint bar falling out of them when we opened them on Christmas morning. According to some of the evidence that I have seen, the reason for the break was when the flint bar was glued into the housing and the housing was broken by the flint bar. I was able to put it in the package with just a little glue. There appears to be no quality control in place. As far as I can tell, the one that didn't break seems to work fine. The Sparkle Pump teaches my son that you must constantly pump sparks into the fire so that it will burn. In yourtube video you can see that just one spark isn't enough. My next step is to improve the design with parts from a hardware store, now that I have taken an entire one apart. There will be a spot for "wetfire", some cordage, and maybe something else as well. It would have cost about as much to obtain a flint rod from the earth, so there is no reason to lose confidence in UST.

This is a good idea, but it's not perfect The performance of the team was mediocre
3/5

Blastmatch is an inordinately great fire starter, even for someone like me who has been using flint and steel style fire starters for a long time. I immediately purchased one when I heard about how you can operate it with just one hand. Despite my initial impressions, the Blastmatch has been hit or miss for me When you create a good strike with the scraper, you generate an impressive amount of sparks, which surprisingly burn for a long time. As far as getting a good strike goes, the challenge is getting one It is necessary to wedge the bar against something solid for the device to work. If you are aiming to cast the sparks into an unstable pile of tinder, this issue can arise. There have been times when I have managed to gather my kindling on a small rock and then move it from there once it has started to burn, but that's a step you don't need to do I scrape my Blastmatch every 5 times. This is most important, since it usually sparks only 2 out of 5 times. It usually just results in me scraping a little material off the bar and disturbing my tinder instead of generating sparks. Keep in mind that this product does work well under the right conditions, and it generates a lot more sparks than your typical Blastmatch, however, is so difficult to use that it ends up left at home in favor of Firesteel, which I find more reliable.

Construction that is solid and sturdy
3/5

This morning, I received my check in the mail. As I looked at my friend's desk that he has had for well over 20 years, I was really impressed with the quality of construction and the solid feel. It was broken before I even opened it when I received mine today. Aside from that, the plastic case is thin, brittle, and brittle. On the picture, you can see that the ferro rod's seat is broken when you look at it from the front. A - would be my rating if I had the choice The best rating I could give is 5 stars.

Iron rod of decent quality
3/5

It is a horrible place to live. Continuing to pull out the ferro rod is the easiest way to remove it. It's a case of wrongful conduct. far as I can tell, there are two options available to you. Here's how. The rod should be glued into the housing using super glue. 3.
It is recommended to use the ferro rod itself since it is 2 1/2 inches long and 1/3 thick. The tin I will store mine in will remain separate.

You are warning! Neither does it work as advertised, nor does it work You must follow the directions on the package in order A total of two were ordered
3/5

The first one failed, and the second turned into a fluttering pile of pieces after a third try. A description of the package states that it's a high-performance item Sparker with a left hand. As you can see, this is a cheap, no-performance waste of time, money, and shipping, and I have to pay for the return shipping. Then you can see how this is a total rip off in a number of ways. I would urge you not to get one. Whatever you buy, make sure that you test it out before including it in If I had not tried them first, this could have become a serious problem someday.

Although the design, despite its flaws, still works well
4/5

Apart from that, I am absolutely thrilled with the functionality. Basically, this was just an "I will see how I can do it" sort The disaster I fear is that if I ever find myself stranded in the wilderness, I will still die of hypothermia even if I have my Blastmatch. The device is not at fault To create hot sparks, it does what it says. However, after two failed attempts at doing so, I have found that tinder found on the forest floor cannot be used to ignite a flame. Several fire-starting videos have taught me how to get sparks to ignite clothes dryer lint or cotton swabs with petroleum jelly laced into the materials, I've had even more success (these tips came from various videos on how to start a fire). I think if I had that stuff along with the Blaster match I would have no problems lighting a fire. However I think this is true for any type of fire-starter in my hands. In terms of the tool itself, after several outings and a couple hundred presses with the flint, it remains wobbly in the handle as mentioned in another review, but this isn't a significant issue for me. In order to generate sparks, you must apply firm thumb pressure to the striker against the flint (IMHO, this fire starter may not be the best choice for those with weak grip strength) in order to prevent it from wobbling while it is compressed. My reason for leaving it with four stars instead of five is that the rod has a tendency to play, which makes it feel as if the tool is about to break. That said, it still works just fine. I also like how the rod pivots open and closed to protect it. This one appeals to me - It seems to me that as an amateur sparker, it's easier to direct sparks into tinder accurately with the Blastmatch than with a two-handed match An electronic device that is held in one hand.

It was something I wanted to like! Finally received my UST Blastmatch Fire Starter after spending days waiting for it and expecting it for a long time
3/5

Once I opened the package, I marveled at its brilliant design, and I took it outside for a test drive. When the rod was being used to light a fire, the adhesive that holds it in place failed during the first attempt to light it. In light of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I assume mine is defective, however there appears to be an issue with the structure of the fire starter, specifically the way in which the rod is attached to the body (adhesive). In light of the fact that there are better options available for less money, I will not use this as anything more than an instructional tool.
