Questions & Answers

Can you tell me what kind of wood it is?

Thanks for stopping by, the PSKOOK Hand Drill is made from sturdy Schima superb and the great wood board is perfect for forming embers. We hope you'll find the information and the YouTube video helpful.

None of the instructions were clear to me. Would it be possible for you to give me a quick instruction?

My chances are good that I will be able to email you directions In my experience, it has worked To straighten out the cordage attached to the bow and upright, simply pull it out. Make sure you apply enough downward pressure for the notch to stay in place. The approximate number of people is 10 to After 15 "saws" back and forth, you will notice smoke and a little more will provide smoldering/glow

Has a handle been attached to it?

You hold the handle by the end that's short.

Are the fake yeezys that appear in the photo included with the drill?

There is no such thing as "fake yeezys" I am aware of. In spite of this, the item comes with some kind of tender and works quite I had plenty of smoke after using about ten "saws" and was certain a nice ember was in the offing.

I really like this product
5/5

The price was more than worth it. A bow drill will be a great tool for teaching kids how to use it. The coal stack gets to you super fast. You might have to adjust the notches a bit out of the box, but other than that, this is a good product. Because of the wood's softness, you will need to replace the hearth board eventually, even if it gets a coal fast.

A great tool for teaching
5/5

Having bought several of these I am trying to introduce my daughters (ages 5 and 7) to friction fire. I really appreciate that the bow snaps into the spindle in place, so there is no frustration over the bow flying off the spindle as it does on conventional bow drills. It is a great tool for teaching people who are unfamiliar with friction fire as it makes learning the process easier, especially for children. As a result, we were able to practice our form and learn the concept, which was our Even though they weren't able to get an ember on their first try, they did learn some things, but most importantly, they didn't get frustrated or lose joy. In order to progress to a regular field crafted set, we will continue to refine our technique with this kit until they are able to light an ember and start a fire. I think it is a great way to introduce newcomers to the language, and it is also a great way to share and spend time with your children.

Item that is totally unnecessary, but fun
4/5

It will still be a good purchase. This was a gift for a fan of "Alone" and "Naked and Afraid". I was sort of playing along, as in, 'Let's see how you do building a fire since you think it would be so simple. As far as this particular thing goes, it is quite simple. I found the wood that the drill sits in to be very dry and soft and it smoked and sparked after a matter of minutes. Almost anyone who has lived in the wilderness knows that dryer lint makes a great tinder. As far as I can tell, our ancestors also purchased readymade kits from Amazon I really liked this quick fire one. It was fun, interesting, and challenging. The next time he tries it, it will be our grandson.

An excellent product
5/5

The Bowdrill kit from PSKOOK is a great way to learn what friction fire making is all about. Learning and teaching the basic skills needed for this can be accomplished with ease through this program. I find most of the reviews agree with me on this point. Attached is an electronic copy of the instructions, which may be of help to anyone who needs In addition, I would like to mention that this and any other PSKOOK product is supported by excellent customer service. They respond promptly to all customer questions. Any questions you have about this bow drill kit or any other of their products you can contact them and you'll receive a complete response right away. As an aside, I have talked with them for almost a year and I assure you they are great to work with and you will be pleased with Those who are able to see my reviews of their products can do so on the Facebook page Mosher Ridge KY.

It's worth the purchasing cost because it's an awesome bearing system
4/5

I bought it to teach my kids this critical skill reminiscing about my time in the Boy Scouts. After my first use, I was able to get an ember and light a fire. The bearing system is what impressed me the most. As for replacing this spindle if you wore out this one, you would need to taper the end of the bearing block and make a bearing block just as much as you would need to just whittle the end of the bearing block It is absolutely impossible for this bearing system to generate heat! Heat can only be made at one end, and you need to make it at that end. One issue I have with this wood is that it wears down pretty quickly for those who are not beginners (this is nice for beginners, since it's easy to make an ember with it), but it wears down pretty rapidly for those who are. It also has a too narrow taper at the end of the spindle that generates embers. It can literally end up being like a drill with its narrowness. The wear on my taper is much slower now that it has reached the beginning of the taper. The basics of bow and drill fire making can be learned in a relatively short period of time, and the kit makes it easy for a beginner.

PSKOOK is absolutely amazing to me! Our products are affordable, high quality, and have great customer service
5/5

It's a YES! It was a miracle! I made fire! In fact, it was quite simple to follow! I got it after 3 attempts and the assistance of (Thank You "My Life In Disorder! "') a fellow reviewer! "), but I realized that I stopped too soon! Once you see smoke, you will know to go faster or when to stop. It was a great Christmas present from my husband and I, especially since he gets to play with firecrafting right away. (Fun gift idea for your timber your spindle down in your excitement as you put your ember in your birdsnest, I nearly This is upside down (I turned it upside down by accident. With any firemaking project, it is best to have a groundcover near you (even a bandana) so you can lay out your tools on it for easier visibility. It is a fantastic tool to teach friction fire mechanics, since it can be created at home with your own hands. I am 37 and I understand friction fire so much more clearly now that I have used the tool to create it. I will be ordering more sets for my children now that I know it works. It would be great if you tried it!.

The design is quite impressive
3/5

Using natural flint and steel, I have been able to start fires. The wood friction tools I've been using to start fires never work for me. As shown in this case, the design is quite interesting and it deals with the problem of the drill flipping out of the bowstring. Although the drill in this case has a fat body, the drill turns quite slowly and is unable to generate enough heat to be effective. If the drill had a thinner body, it would be much more useful.
