5RA. So, after doing some research and reading reviews, I decided to purchase the BL- Battery capacity is increased to 5L. I gambled that it would or would not fit my UV-sensitive skin. 5RA. It didn't work out, to be sure. If you own this Baofeng model, trust me when I say you should buy the battery and do the same thing I did. Underneath the ultraviolet rays Take a sharp pocket knife or an exacto knife to the 5ra tag on the front of the radio, where the extended battery meets up, and shave a little plastic off the battery. It only took about 2 minutes, and it was so simple that even a caveman could do it! I'll update the review after I've had a chance to test the battery out a bit more.
br>The battery's actual capacity is 2300mAh, not the advertised 3800mAh. br>br>The fit and finish are fantastic. The plastic mold appears to have been created by the same people who created the one that came with my UV-curing lamp. It's a perfect match for the radio. br>br>The original 1800mAh battery is 72 grams, while this one is 126 grams. This battery should probably weigh more than it does, given that it's advertised to have more than twice the capacity and has a larger plastic case. br>br>I'd be fine with it if it was advertised as 2300 or even 2600mAh, but selling it as 3800mAh is simply deceptive.
Having a thick bottom; It will easily fit into a Baofeng drop-in charger that does not have a radio. It's also charging (NO-) at the same time. WAIT) you're still using your old battery to talk on the radio; It's akin to having a second gas tank for longer trips without having to stop.
I bought this battery to replace the one that came with my Baofeng Bf- f8hp. The unit's battery capacity is 2100mAh, which is sufficient for a 4-hour charge. Heavy use for 5 hours. I got four days of light use out of this 3800mAh battery with the radio monitoring multiple channels; under high power use (8Watt), you can expect a little more than four days. Use for 6 hours. Medium (5 watt) usage will probably get you eight hours, but I haven't tested this with my radio on the 5 Watt setting. br>br>The only thing that makes this a four star review is the fact that there was no documentation that came with my battery stating what charger to use on the battery's charging port, and no charging apparatus was included with the battery, so I charged the battery on my Baofeng's charging dock and it took its first charge within 5-minutes. 6 hours.
The battery is a perfect match for this radio. I'm only going to give it one star because it's not very good. for the seller's attempts to rectify the situation On my two new UV5xp radios, the two new extended batteries, I give two more stars for a total of four stars. br>br> Neither the battery nor the radio are compatible with each other. br>br>The radio's battery pocket is a couple of millimeters too small. The top of the battery's catch does not fit into the radio's latch as a result of this. As a result, it is unable to lock into position or make contact with power plates. br>br>At first, it sounded like the seller was making it difficult for me to return these. I misunderstood their goal, which was to figure out what was wrong. I sent them some photos, and they sent me a video. br>br>Ultimately, it was determined that my shoes would not fit. Despite the fact that the 5xp is not listed among the radios it fits, they were gracious enough to send me new batteries at no charge. (I'd overlooked that)br>br>While it appears to fit. It's the same thing as 5vr. The only thing that differs is the internal chips. They both agreed on this. As a result, they were perplexed as to why it didn't work. br>br>However, this does not appear to be the case in this instance. Please accept my apologies for using the word "pun" in this sentence. This isn't the case at all. The radio case for the 5xp. At the very least, whoever made this particular set (read: more than one company makes them under the Baofeng name) appears to have a small tab below the model number label at the base of the radio that prevents the battery from being mounted. (See photo of keypad and purple circled area) I trimmed the battery's case to make room for it, and it fits perfectly and clicks firmly into place. br>br>I shaved the battery as shown in the photo, and it now clips on perfectly. All of the yellow/red items should be removed. A Dremel was useful, but a fingernail file or metal file would suffice. Carving it with a sharp box knife, for example, should suffice.
It isn't 3800mAh, despite the fact that it is labeled as such. Another reviewer was able to demonstrate this because he had the appropriate testing equipment. Only the usage time, which is roughly the same as the stock battery, can be shared. It's not surprising, given the cost of batteries. It is UV-resistant. 5R works well, has a solid click, and does not come loose or fall out. I like the larger size because it gives me a little more to grip when using the keypad and makes it easier to nestle the radio into a dash mounted cell phone holder. With the advertised mAh, I was hoping for longer battery life. It's not heavy enough for me to believe it has enough cells to hold that much. While using the device, hold down the '0' button to check the voltage. I discovered that the voltage drops just as quickly as it did with the smaller stock battery when I monitored it this way. br>br>As cynical as it may sound, for an extra $8, you could get a second radio with a second battery and charger instead of a single battery in a bulky case. It's all about living and learning. In any case, if you have more than one or two conversations during the day, you'll need a backup battery. Maybe you'll get this, or perhaps you'll just get a second radio and a backup battery. You are the one who must determine what is best for you. It functions perfectly, but don't hold your breath for a longer battery life.
5R well. I connected the battery to my UV-C lamp after receiving it. There was no power at 5R. I re-charged it because I thought it had run out of power, but it still didn't work. While fiddling with it, I discovered that it would only provide power if I pushed the battery further into the battery slot with my hand; once I let go and the pressure was released, the power was lost. The battery clicked into the slot, but something was preventing the contacts from making a good connection. I contacted Baofeng support but received no response. It fits better after some sanding and tape, but it still loses power if the battery is moved just so. It's annoying, but I suppose I'll keep it.
