Spyderco Salt 2 Lightweight Folding Knife with 3" H-1 Ultra-Corrosion Resistant Steel Blade and Yellow FRN Handle - PlainEdge - C88PYL2

The Blade on this knife is the EXACT SAME as the Blade on my other Salt knives. A problem exists. It's a good knife, light, solidly built and attractive. But, every time I use it in seawater (particularly in the Caribbean), I have to thoroughly rinse it and treat the rust on the H1 logo when I get back to my hotel. By using a soap bar, a towel, and hot water, as well as heavy, hard scrubbing, I can get a lot of the discoloration out. As far as I can tell, oil works too, which I do once I return from a snorkeling trip. This is not the way it should be working. We do not have another lightweight water-proof bag that we can use There are no knives like it on the market, at least not that I'm aware of. It is annoying to rub out much of the rust and discoloration, so I just resign myself to rubbing it out. It isn't perfect, but it is better than the condition before. Spyderco, you've got to make an effort! The steel needs to be treated AFTER you etch in the H1 logo, or you shouldn't etch it in at all. This knife blade (and all of its components) are also in perfect condition, with no indication of rust whatsoever.

My father and I personally own Spyderco knives. It was the 80s when I bought my first Spyderco. It was an instant purchase, when I saw them. During that time, I was a boatswain's Mate for the USCG and had to cut rope and line all the time. It was revolutionary to be able to do so one-handed. Because of how valuable it is to him, my father actually stopped carrying his gen1 endura. During a period of loss, or should it be damaged, it is impossible to replace. Despite being a girl, he carried an ugly pink knife. When I asked him why he responded that the knife often gets lost in the car or in the EZ chair for some reason, and that its bright colors make I found this card and gave it to him during father's day this past weekend. The man loves it, so there is no need to say more. An important phone call came to me Despite the fact that spyderco knives cost a bit more, you get a knife that will last you for years to come, and a knife which will stay sharp for about a month in your pocket. I like this folder because it is a good price/value mix. It is better quality than a cheap walmart folder, but not as expensive as some others.

It is my ONLY TRULY STAINLESS knife. Y'all, the Salt Series is the only series of knives from Sypderco that I have personally encountered that boast true stainless steel. It is these knives that I have extensively swum with in salt water. Their skin is highly chlorinated because I have taken them into highly chlorinated spas. I process logs into slabs, dimensions lumber and any wood product that is available. I therefore needed a knife that had good visibility, corrosion resistance and a certain degree I have been using this knife for the past two weeks, and it has proven to be perfect for me. All that I have done with the blade still leaves the hair as sharp as it was when I bought it. In summary, if you are looking for a great knife that looks good, works well, is corrosion-free, high visibility, will make great slices, is tough, and is free of corrosion, you won't be disappointed with this knife or the Salt Series of knives.

It took less than an hour for one of the screws to come off after I opened and closed the knife several times. My knife was returned because the screw was loose. I don't believe a new knife should have loose screws. Too much sharpness is present in the finger hole of the knife. Furthermore, I had to wait five business days for my order to arrive despite having Amazon Prime. The knife, however, appears to be very well-made This is the second one I've purchased, and it's excellent. Still, there is a sharp point on the finger hole. This knife doesn't seem to be suitable for use straight out of the box when it has such a sharp finger hole. Until I rounded off the edge, it took me quite a bit of work.

I know that sounds unbelievable, but it is the best knife I've ever owned. It does not matter what grade of stainless steel you use with any level of nickel content, Stainless steel will pit and rust over time, but I have used this knife in all kinds of water and often not dried it immediately and it has never rusted or discolored.

Whenever I was saltwater fishing and boating, I wanted a knife that could handle the abuse. This knife did it for me. Besides carrying it while wet wading for Stripers on Cape Cod, I have also carried it while blue crabbin' in the south coast of MA and while carrying it every day. In fact, there is no rust at all on this blade, as it only needs to be rinsed intermittently with fresh water. Since the knife has been immersed and sprayed with saltwater daily, it hasn't developed any rust. On my last day, I rinsed it off. This knife is perfect for saltwater environments.
