When I was younger and single, I was a big fan of brand names and preferred products made in the United States to those made elsewhere. However, now that I am married with two children, I have to be concerned about what others might think. Although the price of this knife appears to be high to the average customer, there are several other factors to consider when purchasing: Metal grade (for strength, corrosion resistance, and sharpness), length of time you intend to keep it, and the knowledge that this is something you'll be carrying around with you all the time and must rely on the quality. br>br>Now it's time for the review! 154CM steel is used to make this knife. For those unfamiliar with the term, it refers to a stainless steel with a high carbon content and a small amount of molybdenum. This steel has a better edge retention, which means you won't have to sharpen your knife as often after regular use. After about two months of use, I've come to realize that I should have started carrying a knife much sooner! This is absolutely incredible. This tool gets the job done whether I'm opening another Amazon package, cutting open a letter in the mail, cutting weed whacker twine, or sharpening a stick. When I first opened the fantastic packaging and took this out of the sleeve it came in, I was a little concerned about how rough the thumb button for closing it was. Actually, I opened and closed the knife a thousand times hoping it was a wear issue, but when I got home, I applied a generous amount of WD40 and realized there had to be some grease locked in the packaging mechanism. I was also put off by the pocket clip and the height at which the knife sits in your pocket. After doing some research, I discovered that the clip's screw pattern matches that of the Benchmade Presidio (which sits deeper due to the way the clip curves), and Benchmade's fantastic customer service team sent me not one, but TWO of the clips for free! br>br>I couldn't be more pleased with my first EDC knife purchase, and I'm thinking about upgrading to the 940!.

This is a fantastic little blade. My wife was enamored with my 20cv Mini Griptilian and inquired as to whether they were available in pink. I believe the S30v blade will be put to good use by her. The hollow ground 154CM Griptilians did not appeal to me. They cut well, but when I used them, I noticed that they were prone to chipping. In any case, now that she has her own, she can ignore mine. She adores the feminine hue and the textured checkering on the handles, which she finds extremely grippy. She has the action broken in smoothly after wiping the factory oil off the washers and lubricating with Tuff Glide. The blade has a sharp edge and is well-centered. br>br>Because she prefers a deep carry clip, she didn't care for the pocket clip. I needed to place an order with MXG Gear anyway, so she chose one of their items and added it to my cart. Aside from the clip, she wishes the pink scales were available in G10 rather than FRN.

Because of all the good things I'd heard about this knife, I was very excited to receive it; overall, it's a great knife with good quality. However, there were a few visible signs of damage on the knife when I received it. br>The knife appears to have been dropped once or twice, as there are noticeable dents in the grip. Benchmade is unlikely to resell a used knife, but it does appear to be unusual. br>Normally, I'm not so picky, but for the price, I'm expecting a knife in perfect condition.
