The Morakniv companion fixed blade outdoor knife with carbon steel blade comes in two colors military green and black. How about "inch"?

A difference is that 1) the blade is larger. 2) the blade is a little thinner (. 5 inches shorter*br>2, the blade is a little thinner.

Would this be a good tool for carving wood? Could I use it to carve spoons, for instance?

Without a doubt! I referred to the earlier version of this as my go-to I have used the carving knife for a long time, and I occasionally use it. Clearly understand that a hook knife (or something similar, such as scorpion) is easier to use for carving the "bowl" of the spoon. This tool does a nice job of sculpting and carving the bowl, and it does a passable job of shaping.

Here are 2 easy steps to making a perfect knife for preppers

Please mark HELPFUL if this review was helpful to you, no matter how positive or negative your review was. By doing so, I am more likely to be inspired to follow through with my real reviews of products I have Those who like Sharper than a razor blade * High-grade plastic handle and scabbard * I love that you get all the features of a knife kit but you don't have to work on them * Fit and finish are excellent It took two minutes to file down the backside so it would make a perfect striker to go with Ferro rods or Flint. I have seen videos of people doing it with a grinder, but since I don't have one, the file worked just fine. You decide if you want to upload the video clip. As this seems to be on everything now, I am not paying as much attention to the California health warnings. The answer is yes, I would buy it If it were a gift, I would accept it. In addition to the flat file, you can also give it as a kit if you're gifting to a Prepper. It is a pleasure to read your review )

Thank you very much for reading it I would appreciate it if you could give this review a thumbs up again. There is no doubt about it. If a question is posted in a comment, I reply. The blade is very sharp and nice

A few poster's advising me to force a patina on the blade worked for me. Here are the steps I followed for applying the patina based on some of the videos and discussions I read in the forum. 1

We used rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to clean the blade. A paper towel was used to wipe cotton ball threads from the surface. 3.
In picture 3, a complete fill of white vinegar was placed into the supplement bottle. As the mouth was just right size, it held the handle above the vinegar and completely submerged the blade without allowing any of the blade to touch any parts of the bottle (including You might just be able to use a plain glass and let it rest on the tip, but I didn't want the handle to touch the container and lose its patina, nor did I want to soak the handle in vinegar while it is laying 1. 2. 3. It needs to be soaked for 15 minutes before a doctor can examine Then I put it back in for 10 minutes more because I wanted it darker. The fourth point. Once it was removed from vinegar, we wiped it off with a paper towel, and repeated steps 1 through 5. Note 5. A few drops of mustard in a dish and the use of a q-tip were all that was needed To create the little stripes, start by drawing them along each side. Let it sit for 10 minutes to dry About fifteen This is 6. Repeat step 1 above, after washing off the mustard with water and a paper towel. I. 7. The task is complete. I'd say that's a great deal for A knife will cost you $00 and a dollar will cost you This vinegar and mustard block will be more durable because it will have 10 worth of vinegar and mustard.

The Happiest I have ever been is to be proved wrong

I have some preconceived notions about this knife and Mora knives in general. Let me give you the lowdown and funky. I was thinking about picking up a cheap kitchen knife from the TV and sticking it in a tacklebox when I first saw them. This was my first knife and I bought the Companion and I have to tell you, although these are affordable, you're talking to someone who spent a good portion of his childhood around blades of nearly every type. It makes me sad to admit it, but The knives are absolutely not what I thought they would be. Here are five basic tips on how to use Despite its size, the gun feels great in my hand. It is sharp as hell and doesn't leave me hot spots. In terms of design, it lacks a full tang, which I prefer in knives, and it does not have a 90 degree spine for striking ferro rods. However, it compensates for what it lacks in other areas. The knife I'm using is hacked. Yes. The following is what I did 1

To make the blade aged, I patinated it. You can do this in less than five minutes. To begin, take a glass, and with your knife, gently tip it down into the glass. Fill the glass with vinegar to the brim. Dry off the knife after you have taken it out. On the stove, put a small saucepot of vinegar to boil for a bit. For now, take a file and file that spine just a little After the 90 degree turn is made, it will be nice and sharp In a pot of boiling vinegar, turn the glass to a 30-degree spine and then carefully pour the vinegar into the glass, leaving the blade sticking out the tip. Allow the blade to sit in the water for about ten minutes, pull it out, wipe with a paper towel, rinse, then repeat until it Is there anything I can do to make that better? This blade was designed to strike ferro rods, but since it is carbon steel, it will rust. Given a patina, however, it will last a little longer. As soon as you've finished applying the patina, give it a thin coat of olive oil before storing it. It is now your turn to shine

2. A ferro rod and some jute twine were added to the sheath by wrapping them with Parcord and securing them with the sheath. This provided us with cordage as well as fire tinder and the means to light a campfire. In addition to the bicycle innertube, I added a retention strap on the sheath.

I was able to turn this thing into a light-weight, compact flashlight with only those three modifications This is an excellent bushcrafting knife. I use it for all You can check out the photos for any confirmation you may need. There was no waste of money at all, and I was able to pull out every penny and more.
