Questions & Answers

Should the need arise, is this device capable of puncturing a shark?

The knife does not float, you do not want a knife that will float on the surface when you go As well as being blunt, the tip is as well.

If the knife is confined in the sheath during movement, how will it stay in place. Is it dangerous to roll a kayak, do rescues, or be hit by waves if I'm in one?

The chances are probably zero. The sheath has a noticeable raised bump that holds the knife in place but also makes it very easy to remove the knife from it. It is also worth noting that the handle is made of cork, which could get beaten up at the point

Since I work on tugboats, this item is made from cork, and it looks brittle and also I really like the morakniv craftline basic 511 but which one will work?

Having never used 511, I don't know what it's like Although I have not tried it, I believe that the knife will float with the cork handle. The knife I carry with me on a kayak is a cheap article of equipment. In order to get a strong work blade, I go with SOG or another high-quality blade. In regard to what I paid for this knife, I have no complaints.

The sheath will keep it afloat, but will it float without it?

Unless I bought a floating sheath, I don't know

Mora's first knife isn't the best at fighting off rogue pirates
3/5

I was disappointed to see that this particular knife didn't meet up to the usual standards of Mora knives. It's not uncommon for me to own quite a few Mora knives and I love them all. Do not get me wrong, there are many things I like about this knife. They are light, float, have rounded edges, and are highly visible. However, it's the tang that makes or breaks it. There is almost no evidence for it. As soon as you flex the cork handle, you can feel the tang flex and it seems like a matter of time before the cork starts breaking off as it is not reinforced cork over a stronger material, but feels very Other members have also pointed out that the blade is an extremely thin one. There is no way to cut through the fish backbone without damaging the knife or overly torqueing the handle tang. It will cut shrimp and cut bait, but you won't be able to cut through a large fish backbone without damaging that knife. I am furious! really want to like this knife, however it's not made to be a good boat knife. Mora, if you're listening, please consider improving the quality of this knife. Possibly you could make a hollow air chamber inside the handle, while still having the thin tang go that much deeper into the handle for extra support. This cork is so thin, it's not going to last!.

Here's a look at both floating knives from Mora
5/5

Here is a look at two floating knives made by Mora A fine edge clip point with a serated safety tip in orange and a fine edge clip point in green. As far as I can tell, both knives have the same sheath, handle, weight, length, steel type and There are two main differences between you the blade color and the grind of the blade. The orange sheath and serated safety tip knife I bought for my canoe is going in my backpack. I bought the clip point knife in the green sheath for a hiking knife in 2020. If you need an ultralight hiking knife, these knives are very light and float well. They are lightweight and still have a cork handle, which is exceptionally comfortable and grippy. They are perfect as an ultralight backpacking knife. Using a magnet, I can see that the tang extends to the end of the handle, and that the cork is more dense than fly-paper This knife has a cork handle, but the handle flexes more than any other knife I have ever Although the handle flexes, I don't think it'll break if you use it to perform all knife jobs. Due to the fact that the Tang is enclosed in plastic and the cork has been bonded to the plastic, I am not concerned that the cork will come off the Tang as some reviewers have feared. With a cork handle, the comb feels great in my hands and could be used as a fly-tying tool This rod is comfortable and durable, much more than you might expect. There are no holes in the sheath The Mora plastic sheath is orange or green with a drainhole, exactly like the Mora plastic sheath. In addition to sharpening the spine, the blade was also polished. If you need an ultralight, boat safety knife or a backpacking knife on a budget, these knives are a good choice. It has been two boat seasons since I bought the orange model, and the handle does not show wear to the cork, but it does have a tendency to pick up dirt from the boat, particularly under moderate use. My orange serated edge has been in use for two boating seasons and it has held an edge and has proven to be perfect for cutting rope, fish, **I would like to point out that the sheath retention is achieved by the two divots on either side of the cork handle and the two matching nubs. The cork hasn't worn at all on me yet, and my experience has proven that it's far more durable than you'd expect. With my use, I would expect it to last 20 years or more, and at this price point most mora knives are made to be used hard, and they are intended to be.

In minutes, you can easily transport your stainless steel knife to the prepper
5/5

In addition, The pros are Stainless steel MORAKNIV comes with a lifetime warranty and a cork grip that feels good in the hands and dries quickly. The lifetime guarantee makes this product incredibly valuable. In my experience this knife works well on ferro rods after we file the back of it flat with a Mill Bastard style file. I was pleased that both the knife and scabbard float at first I wasn't sure that the scabbard would. My belt and this knife fit perfectly inside the scabbard since it has a great design. As a result of its lightweight, stainless steel, and floating features, camping enthusiasts don't have to worry about bringing this knife on a trip. The cons are There are none that I have noticed

Yes, I would recommend this product to friends, and I have already done so, plus I would buy again, as I have purchased it twice now.

It appears to be a good product
4/5

Are you in need of On accident, I purchased this knife while I was in my pocket and attempted In any case, I was unable to print the return label because I could not find the handle before my incredible, incredibly smart, without any pain in the ass dog ate it. So now I own a slightly modified As long as the large dog is off, the handle is fine A tooth-shaped object It is very dense cork, lacking some sized chunks but looks fantastic. This cap fits in my hand quite nicely, not as well as it would fit in the jowls of an 80lb mutt with an oral fixation, but it is pretty comfortable. It's a little strange that the cut off tip is there. Is it for safety or for some other reason? Orange will tether it to a line in a pond, river, ocean or pool of staffordshire terrier dog slobber to ensure you never lose it.

YES! I love it! My head spins when I think Mora could have invented a boat knife at the perfect time! In my mind, I was going to buy a mora companion in stainless steel and grind down the tip and add a larger drain hole so it looked more like a boat knife
5/5

But Mora produced an official boat knife, which is even better than what I could have made. The serrations on the serrated border are my favorite. Rope can be easily cut with this blade. While this would be great for camping, I wouldn't use it for that. I was surprised how sturdy it felt for how light it was. It was mentioned in other reviews as feeling The weight of it is not nearly as substantial as a Mora companion, but it feels nice and solid despite its light weight. A fantastic feature of the blunt tip is also the size! Despite how sharp it is, you can poke your hand through it with out cutting it, so it is perfect for boats. This is my second one. We are so happy with the price! My canoe fishing bag also contains a bottle opener. I'll put one in the glovebox of the boat for emergency use and put one in my fishing bag for use on the boat. It has already been cool using the Mora companion as my fishing knife, so I am looking forward to using this one even more. It makes sense to own one of these knives if you are a boater, canoeist, or kayaker! I really think you should carry a knife at the very least to keep yourself safe. you only have time to cut the rope if a knot is too tight or tangled, so you have to untie it right away. Ropes and lines can cause people to drown if they get tangled up. You may also save the life of someone you are taking on the boat with with the use of a good knife.
