In its own right, the filter with the spout weighs 86 grams. Weight of the package is 111 grams, including the 32oz bag and filter. It is therefore worth 25 grams to buy a 32oz bag. Dry weight measurements were conducted on all items.
Fresh water is the only kind of water that can be filtered by these systems.
The item that I received did not come with instructions. However, you can find tutorial videos on YouTube that describe how to use it, how to clean it,

Its an excellent product that I used for the first time on a PCT thru hike. It was simple to use and it worked great for keeping me healthy. The water doesn't come from the ocean. This seems to be the case. Anyhow, filtered water is not always necessary, because some of the water I drank on the PCT was pure spring water, never tampered with by man, so it was crystal clear ice cold deliciousness and didn't need to be filtered. It was not all good. There were some disgusting dead animals rotting in stagnant cisterns. It will be at this time that you will appreciate your sawyer most. My mini sawyer broke within a month of receiving it, so don't waste your time. This is better in every way. I'm not a fan of the flow There is a suggestion that seems to help quite a bit if you are going to be using this a lot. Go to the hardware store and buy a new O ring and a mesh filter, two bucks, they use them for kitchen faucets. The idea here is to add ANOTHER layer of filtration BEFORE the water reaches your sawyer, which will result in you cleaning it LESS often. Furthermore, you will get dual-RAINBOW/filtering in your sawyer. It is my pleasure to be of service to you.
My solution was to simply add a smart water bottle top and it worked great. Simple solution to an otherwise difficult problem. The product was ordered directly from amazon a total of three times. I have received the product, I have received a two pouch system that appeared complete, until I realized it was missing a push/pull valve and a In every scenario, I had to return it to FMD because it was not what it was described to be and there were some key features Due to the lack of this feature, spills cannot be prevented, and the last thing you want to do is to find your down sleeping bag wet and smelly after a spill from lost water Also, you don't want to bag a wet filter since it will contaminate it with bacteria, which can cause health problems. The description claims that the item is included, so I hope this is an error that amazon catches because they are offering an incomplete system, which is misleading. You will also need the cap and not a twist cap that is on the squeeze bags if you order this system in the single pouch option. It is my hope that this will help others notice.
I was using the MSR pump filter as well as the Katadyn water bottle for filtration while traveling. Sawyer bottles had a much better flow, unlike Katadyn bottles which were only okay. The Katadyn bottle made you squeeze and suck like crazy while the Sawyer bottle didn't. The included pouch or any bottle with a 2 liter screw top - as an example the Smart Water Bottle (get it with the sports top so you can apply it to the top that came with the Sawyer) - can be used, and the flow is GREAT! With a squeeze, all of the water comes out. Once again, there's no Katadyn (especially since the replacement cartridges are so expensive). Now campers have to filter water. For a long time, I either pumped a lot more water or used tablets of iodine to get enough water. Yet again, Sawyer serves as a hero. In addition to a tornado tube costing $2, and some collapsible water bottles (I recommend Evernew bottles, Platypus work as well, but the pitch of the threads seem to be off), you are able to make a simple gravity system that works extremely well. You can just fill one bottle with "dirty" unfiltered water (put rope through a few holes in the welded section to hang everything. Leaving nothing in the hole where the water will go), place your tornado tube on the "outside" of the filter, place your empty collapsed "clean" bottle at the other end of the tube and then attach your filter to the side facing away from the arrow on the dirty You can hang it upside down from a branch and go do other things. All of your posts are filtered when you come back. I do not need to pump anymore. The tablets or auqamira drops are still on hand as an emergency backup, but I've not had to use For those of you who didn't understand my description, here are a couple of pictures of the setup I used on a 9 day backpacking trip I just returned from. If you have any questions, just let me know or try searching on YouTube for Sawyer Squeeze Mods.
Since I am a thru hiker of the Appalachian Trail, I have amassed more than 2,200 miles of hiking experience. For my 5 and a half month hike on the AT, I used this water filter It's not surprising that most thru-hikers who use a filter (instead of Aquamira or other chemical alternatives) use it for a variety of There is a great deal of speed to this system, it lasts quite a long time (reportedly a million gallons), and it is much simpler The best thing to do is buy a smart water bottle (the filter screws on the top) and to either drink the water out of it, or squeeze it It is more difficult to squeeze the squeeze bags that come with the bottle because they break easily.
Get the Sawyer Mini if you don't want to skimp on quality. I am so frustrated that it is sooooo slow.
The water filter has been used approximately 20 times and now at the end of a squeeze water only drips out very slowly. A backpack trip I recently went on ruined my The contact for Sawyer has been made.
