It is I who am a bow-tie There are some things that may be more expensive and not as quality in hunter and gaiters sold by most hunting outfitters. This is a much cheaper alternative to camouflaging your ankles so I was looking for one that was more practical. These are excellent! I would highly recommend them to anyone who hunts or hikes as they are made of an extremely durable material.
Anyone who hikes or hunts should consider these gaiters. In spite of the fact that shoes are never really waterproof, gaiters impart a substantial amount of protection from leaves, water, and dirt getting inside As I live in the Pacific Northwest, I was able to test out the waterproof feature at once. Having no gaiters meant that my boots got soaked in the rain and that my feet were completely soaked all day. While wearing these shoes, I was able to walk through wet fields, crossed rivers, and walked in the rain with no wet feet. The fastening systems themselves are also very useful to me. In my experience, gaiters relying solely on Velcro seem to fail fairly quickly. Since these have a strap at the top, I like the fact that the Velcro is thick. It is also very tough to have the bottom loop that goes under your boot. Though it's hard to adjust, I actually think this is a good thing since you really only have to set it once, and the clasp seems to be very durable as well. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is because it really only has one complaint. There is quite a lot of noise from these when you brush up against things (including when your legs brush). For those who do not use these for hunting, this may not be an issue, however by using these primarily for hunting, I must tread carefully It never occurred to me that these would be silent, but the pattern of the rip-offs intrigued me This makes them feel almost like sandpaper, which will aggravate casual hikers and is certainly not my ideal situation. Despite their functionality, I still use them because I can still walk carefully and stay quiet when wearing them.
They keep things out of your boots and pants for a long time! I have worn them around the field for some time and they work well for keeping things out. I would definitely recommend them as they are waterproof and hold a good grip better than Rubber straps under boots are at the bottom of my list of concerns, as they tend to get caught on things and take a beating. Despite my belief that it is only a matter of time before it snaps, it hasn't happened yet, and I am happy. Despite this, it looks like it might have to be replaced when it does.
The strap on the upper buckle of this product pulled out the first time I used it, rendering it I was disappointed to find that the Velcro closure did not secure over Sorel snow packs. While they can fit over hiking boots, they're useless when hiking in winter in snow coverings. I returned them for a refund, and that is with the large size. It is built poorly and the design is poor.
I'm not going to put them to the test, but they seem like they'll do a good job. think these Gaiters would be able to resist a bite from either a medium or a small snake if you wear good pants and wear hiking socks.
