It is crucial that I use something that works the first time with my small hands and does not fracture my short, feminine nails when it is time to start a fire. There are a lot of fire starters and strikers out there with hilariously divergent of the time they are fine - That's about it. In addition to not liking skinny little strikers that you have to rub with a piece of hacksaw blade, whose back is often almost as sharp and jagged as its business end, I do not like thin, rubber-like striker pads. Since your hand was so close, I have a problem using short micro strikers where I carelessly light my hangnails on fire while also lighting the tinder. does not actually occur, but you get the idea. bought this BlastMatch, my husband claimed it as his and it disappeared In retrospect, I should have guessed that it was the best striker for the job. Once in awhile it would resurface to light the fire pit in the back yard, but when it did it would go back to its back pocket and vanish from existence again as quickly as it had appeared. He was hiding it and I had no idea where it was, so I had no choice but to use the other strikers I had purchased, which worked just fine. There were others before, but they were not as quick and easy as this. Here are a few things It is the thickest firesteel rod I own, making it the first thing you notice. (I have uploaded the picture. The strike is most likely to The second thing is that my son has been using this to start a fire since he was 7 years old while camping. You will be amazed at how easy it is. It is used to. The opening process isn't that easy, but once you get the hang of it, everything becomes easier. To open, you simply push down on the metal scrapers, then, using your thumb, depress one side of the scraper to pull it out. You will be greeted by striking bolts of intense yellow, orange, and white sparks that will light up anything in their path that has the slightest whiff of showed it to us set the fine fibers of our living room rug on fire. Once we extinguished the flickering *)

My husband confiscated my first one he bought and wouldn't let me touch it, so I decided to buy a second one for myself. All the other broken fire rods we had somehow picked up along the way, which were completely safe since they don't even light, were given to my boy scout son, who then replaced them all with a fire tool that actually works. In light of the fact that we have a BlastMatch from 2014 and one from 2016, I decided to compare the two Look at the product's side to see if it has changed in any way or if it has become more flimsy as reviewers claim. could not find a single difference between the two. They opened with the same springy force. The plastic was the same thickness on each, the rod was the same diameter and they had A single push is all it takes to start a fire since they give out a generous shower of sparks if you get them even closer to a tinder ball. Those are the types of things it catches In both purchases, I am very pleased and will continue to use them until they malfunction. leave me out, I will come back and do not use our BlastMatch every day, my husband has used the original one somewhere around 50 times since he is a scout leader, and it is still in excellent condition with no cracks in the plastic or damage visible at all. Wait until the price drops to twelve or less before making your purchase if you want to be on the safe side. You can find them as low as ten at certain times of the year, so you should be patient. Use your BlastMatch wisely and avoid using it while drunk or trying to impress someone. There is no proof that the reviewers who broke theirs were drunk or capable of impressing women at all It is simply my advice to give you some general good advice. Both of my strikers were bought at full price. I have no affiliation with Even catching things on fire doesn't appeal to me much. I prefer to roast I hope you have a wonderful time camping!.

You don't want to trust them

It struck me as a great idea in a compact package when I first saw the BlastMatch. Wouldn't it be easier if it were that simple? Make fire by flipping it open, pushing down, and letting it burn. I'm pretty confident about it as far as function is concerned. Only the way in which it opens is problematic. As soon as you figure it out, you are set, unless you catch the striker in your cross. The biggest problem with the ferro ros material used is its harshness. You literally have to go to the grave with it. It is of poor quality and will oxidize and turn to dust. There is an oxidation-preventing coating on it, but the first time you cast sparks, the protection is compromised and the time is running out. As I sorted through my emergency kit and found it in the unusable condition, I'm glad I found it and not when I was in need of it and.

A poor spark and a broken lid clasp
3/5

It was purchased over a year ago, and it has disappointed me to no end. It works, so I'm giving it two stars It barely qualifies. It was used only twice to start fire, and I saw this on a survival show. It was probably used by amateurs on TV because it appeared on one. As a first point I'd like to point out that the Ferro rod reaches out 1 inch. I had a five-inch belly. There is hardly an adequate spark when I push it (as they did on TV), and I have had to push it repeatedly to get enough spark to ignite. I also have an issue with the plastic latch/clasp stretching easily after owning the mug for a short period of time, and now the lid will not close. I carry it constantly, and it causes me pain. This is my recommendation for a 5 inch ferro rod purchased on The company is 1" X 5" 12 7mm x 12mm Stainless Steel Brush Fire Starter Magnesium Tool Kits Camping Hiking Survival Outdoor Black 7 cm This is easier to use, you can get three in one go. There are far larger and more intense sparks on it after 5 strokes. Free shipping included in the price of $50). The lighter is not equipped with a striker, but I always have a knife or can find a metal so I can create sparks with it. Weighing out the lack of a striker, the length and spark of this team outweigh the absence of a.

It falls apart and has a cheap feel to it
3/5

Despite being coated in epoxy glue, the ferro rod cannot be held in place. There is a spring loaded rod that is inserted into the casing and is ejected like a projectile.

The cap is attached using thin bands of plastic that are likely to break as they bend easily. As long as the ferro rod is being used, the cap does not snap onto the body. There is an overall feeling of cheapness. As there are generous sparks in this, I would like it if it produced them all at once As if it were a handed motion. The quality of this update needs to be improved. If you want to use plastic, maybe stainless steel will do.
