Questions & Answers

I am pretty new to fireplaces, so please bear with me. I wanted to know if this is basically kindling. Are I also required to use paper?

There have been a lot of ways to do it for me. The best way to build a wood burner in my house is to layer crumpled newspaper, then 2 or 3 pieces of fatwood, then some kindling, and then a few larger kindling pieces. As soon as that gets going well and hot, and the flue temp is 400 degrees or more, we put in a log and after a while an even Then all you have to do is toss a log on every now and then. Fireplaces are a bit different in a few ways, but the principal holds.

This box contains 10 pounds of sticks. How many are there?

While I do not know how many of them there are, I have been using one box all winter. It's easy to start a roaring fire with a match, two sticks, and a It is my go-to knife, and I sometimes cut one in half lengthwise with a hatchet to keep it from getting worn out. The number of attendees was at least 50 The piece count is 80. Each of these has its own qualities. find these to be the most pleasing.

They produce a lot of smoke, don't they?

There's no doubt about it, they're outstanding for my car and these cranks like sparklers it doesn't take long for them to light up when you blow heated air It's not obvious to them that they are giving off a lot of smoke.

In what size box are there pieces?

The measurements are not uniform as everyone has already stated, thus the It's also about 200 to 300 km away The closest I can get is 300 sticks. I would use 1 box for every 10 pounds in order to give you an idea of how long the box will last There are 2 sticks per fire (or 3 if the wind is really strong) and I light 3 sticks per fire There were about 5 burns per week and the box lasted me for about 6 months (at least I think so I can't remember exactly). The bottom line is that I've only ordered three boxes of this stuff in about two years time. It is simply the best, most affordable fire starter there is. It's still true. My online purchase cost me less than $25, when I got mine it cost me about $5 less. It is also available at gardening stores for a lower price. For your information

REMIND ME OF MY OLD DAYS
5/5

Usually people don't know what fatwood is when they hear you mention it. The problem is. . . To hunt it, my grandfather and I used to go into the woods together. We would go looking for pine threes in a burlap sack that he carried. Our hunt would lead us to one pretty soon, and then we would be able to remove the dead and rotting parts of the tree to find the heart. Trees never decay. It was his job to fill our sack, and it was our job to take them to the woodshed. The ax he used to slice up little pieces would delight me as I sat there watching him. My job was to pick them up and stack them in his kindling box, and we were off and running! This is so much fun! As a result, I always have a couple around when the weather turns chilly. I felt a bit nostalgic. Amazon was a pleasure to deal with.

It's great stuff
5/5

You really ought to try it. Just the ten pounds of pine resin saturated sticks will last awhile since it takes a little to start a fire. The sticks have been dried in the wood, and they look like some kind of brownish-reddish plastic with some letting light pass through. I find it odd to be so captivated by a fragment of wood the way you are Although they smell nice, as burning pine should, they actually burn like chunks of plastic, as the smoke they emit while burning is black, and the soot they create is thick and heavy. A pretty intense flame erupts once the flame catches and the wood heats up, with the pine liquifying and combining with the wood to create an intense sizzle. When it comes to getting them lit, they don't ignite very quickly since they are not volatile or anything like that, so it takes about ten seconds to catch a flame under a match or lighter, and then it is ready for use. A slow start is followed by a sudden escalation. My only use for them is to carry a stick or two in my camping bag (the size of a single stick is equivalent to a bundle of four pencils) and when I need to get some classic charcoal burning for a BBQ instead of lighter fluid. Take a knife to split the meat into smaller pencil-size pieces, then spread them out on the charcoal. You can also put a piece or two on the ground beneath the coals if it's When you light them, they will blaze agressively and for a long enough period to finally start burning on It's no longer necessary to squirt lighter fluid on them twenty times and relight them, or to use the "Matchlight", which is much easier. The charcoal briquettes burn to ash and become a glowing light in under one The beauty of fat wood is that it can be used for any application where you have to start a stubborn fire. In addition, you'll enjoy that moment when the scent of a pine forest hits your nose and puts a smile on your face when you open the box ).

Why are prices going up so fast? This is the same product I've been using for years and I This happens quite often - An individual living in the foothills of Colorado uses a stove
3/5

Recent trends suggest that fatwood sticks are becoming thicker in thickness than they used to be, making it more difficult to start a fire and also much harder to get them going. I split the strips into thinner pieces so that I could use them more efficiently. Please let me know how I can help The exact same product was purchased today to find that the price had increased from $31 to $40. In December 2020, the price will go up by $12 The date is February 4, 2021 - 86 years ago! The price has gone up for some reason, so either I accidentally pressed the wrong button or the increase is completely absurd. In the case of the above, the rating went from 5 stars to 2 stars For the reasons listed above. There are a few more options I might look at.

The price on Amazon is triple that of On Amazon, these starters are the same ones sold at Lowes for a third of the price
3/5

These seemed more durable and good than those at Lowes so I bought them, but I made sure to compare the labels. I was taken advantage of! Because they are thin and not very good, they do not stay lit very For less money, there are better products on the market!.

Nuggets that start fires are not as effective as those that start fires
3/5

The people who can start a fire with just a match and a piece of wood know that there are some people who can. You can keep a fire burning overnight with a variety of techniques. That is not the case with Not at all. Most of the time I struggle to get going. And every morning I have to start a fresh It's a choice for part of it. It's not for most of it. It is my favorite thing to start a fire. Rather than buy those Duraflame starters that I used to like but can no longer get inexpensively, I bought these and it was just as good.

I've been scammed! It's almost a year later and I'm writing to warn people that this fatwood is a defective copy of the original sold at Lowe's and Home Depot
3/5

My frustration is such that I have to spend 10 to 15 minutes on a single matchstick trying to get it lit. On the sticks there is no oil, and they are extremely fat, whereas they should be thin. The company gets defective products and sells them to consumers without making them aware of the fact. If you want to take advantage of it, get a bunch of lighters with these because you're going to need them.

That wasn't at all what I was expecting
3/5

As you can see in the picture, I did not receive the box that was shown. My mailbox was topped with what looked like someone ripped apart a brown cardboard box, taped it back together, and then sent it to me. Purchasing a 2lb box of fatwood from Rural King was a great experience. Each piece of wood In terms of both diameter and length. There was a box full of different lengths and diameters in this one. The box was so big that I was forced to divide about 1/4 of it into smaller pieces, and some of the pieces I split twice. Some pieces were about half the length as It goes without saying that this will be my last purchase of this product. It is recommended that you look My rating would have been 0 if I could have had the option.
