Wood like this has nothing special to offer. Fatwood and starter are not the same thing. I think of it as something like what you could buy for seven cents at a roadside. Bundles are priced at $2. 00 each. My eyes are wet with tears as I laugh and cry.
Due to the fact it comes up when you search for fatwood, the ad is slightly misleading. In light of this, this product is not fatwood and it is not claimed to be. A very dry kindling that works well to help start a fire and keep it going for a while. It is quick to light and to There is an ample supply of it as well. While I wish the pieces were not quite as long, I can live with that. Although I will probably not be purchasing them again since fatwood is my regular go-to, it can be a good alternative.
Much better than logs pressed with sawdust. In spite of the full box of products, this is still a bit more expensive than the pressed wood logs I typically buy to start a fire. Compared to the pressed logs, this is a much cleaner and a lot more aromatic product! Even though I'm not entirely sure what cedar kindling normally costs, I still thought this was a bit of a splurge. All in all, I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars simply for the price. It isn't cheap, but it has good quality.
As kindling, these do not work well. There's no match for quartered logs for this sort of catch. Being cedar, they might be more appealing for their smell, but I have a wood stove here that I use for heating in the winter, and it isn't open to the room, so even when I open the door to add wood, there's no unpleasant aroma. Kindling was something I really wanted, but I didn't get it.
