Questions & Answers

What are the differences between these and ?

I can only spot one difference, which is that they aren't adorned with the Exotac logo. These parts appear to have been manufactured in the same factory. It's a pleasure to work with You can buy them for $5 each instead of $30 each. In addition to the ferro rods, they can be changed.

Two fire starts are being sold by the seller What does 99 mean?

My order consisted of two (2), which were delivered by the seller. As a result, I still think it's

What is the process for unscrewing the rods and replacing them?

You can replace the ferro rod if it gets damaged.

What quality are these as compared to ?

I would say probably are, but there's a disproportionate amount of bias surrounding it since "China bad" looking at the reviews, it seems pretty much the same as the original, and the low ratings are probably the result of people looking for something to complain about. My personal stance is that I don't care where they're made, as long as they work. The ferro rod in the case seems to be bad on some reviews, so you may want to replace it with an actual exotac rod, but for the casing alone, the case should be fine.

Selected User Reviews For DOSMAMZ 2PCS Compact Fire Starter with Scraper Striker, Replaceable Threaded Ferro Rod Flint Fire Steel Magnesium Rod, an Essential Part for EDC, Emergency Survival Kits, Camping, Hiking, Bush-Craft

These are amazing! I can't say enough about how great they are! Essentially, this is a copy of Exotac's expensive There have been other cheaper replica versions of the steel I have owned and they were all bad
5/5

As a result of the fair weather, the strikers on the rods were also bad, although I was able to file down the striker and get it to work There are only a few decent aluminum casings with ferro rods that are hardly usable left. In my mind, it would be nice to grind down the rods, and use the cases to hold the shavings (since I like to recycle stuff even cable from discarded phone chargers). I thought they would make a decent addition to the fire kit, and they are inexpensive. Containers that seal tightly. For 4 dollars, you can buy two of these.
I was expecting a two-pack of Chinese fire starters that were cheap and useless. I wasn't prepared for their performance to equal the Exotac, so imagine my surprise when they showed up. These strikers have sharp abilities and are well positioned in the midfield. Casings are machined precisely and sealed, and the rods made of ferrocerium are very easy to strike for spark showers. While these things are fantastic, as is the case with many of the other things I find no sense in, I find them hard to accept. Please note that your mileage may vary when purchasing branded items on Amazon. It could be that I just got lucky or maybe all of them are this good. Gratified crappy ferrocene rods are no substitute for finely ground magnesium shavings as an aside. Even so, I can still use the empty cylinders to store genuine The following pictures are available for viewing As you can see, the brand name for the one on the left is Exotac. It's true that the machining is a little more precise, but both machines have very good strikers and perform about the same in terms of sparking. It's probably better to file or sand off the black coating before using these strikers, as they're coated with some kind of black Apoxsee. Use a good knife spine or a heavier striker if it is possible. In comparison to a $30 mini protected fire steel, this is a good deal for two. The above company seems the best, but I will be aware as I know that not every generic firesteel from China will be as good as these ones.

The keychain is great, but the fire starter is not so good
3/5

As a result of my experience, I am providing this review. As soon as I saw the fire starters, I was very excited. A spark didn't seem to have been produced, but the two pack made it possible for my girlfriend and I to do a “fire making showdown” in the style of Survivor. It may have been close to 100 years ago After 150 successful strikes for each of us, we had to give up because the spark wasn't hot enough to ignite dried out palm tree remnants (which light in less than a second with a standard I no longer was able to start the fire, and my thumb nail had been chipped very badly from trying to keep a It may be a little too small for my larger hands due to its pocket-sized frame.

The product alone is worth the price and shipping was quick
5/5

These are great boxes at a good price. I am giving this product a 5 because they are very nice and they are priced right. My skills would allow me to start a fire with this material in an emergency situation with patients nearby. The fire starters are easy to use and can be used every time for everyday camping, group gatherings or for displaying your fire starting abilities for a camera. If you don't tweak the product, ie sharpening the striker and replacing the ferro rod with a better one, this wouldn't work for you. In this case, you have a solid-looking, small, lightweight, waterproof container for your ferro rod and striker that will work with a little These will go in mine and my sister's emergency bags. I will replace the ferro rod in her bag as she may not be as experienced with fire starters as me. Since she was in the last hurricane I can rest easier knowing she will have a mini bug out bag that will last her three days she is a tough cookie after all. Her ferro rod will remain dry and intact for many years with the use of this container. There is a ferro rod that twists out. I can either replace it or add another one loosely inside. I am very pleased with my purchase and thank you for offering them at a reasonable price. I suggest you rethink it for the reviewers who gave it fewer than 4 stars because the cases alone are worth it at such an affordable price. Mine was delivered within It is a product I would purchase.

It is very impressive how well these firestarters work! You have impressed me
5/5

It has a sturdy body, and the ferro rod and striker work well together. The first action was to scrape off the protective paint. The next strike was to pop a nice It took a few seconds to tighten the rod into the housing after unboxing, but after that it stayed in place. Also, the rod of this firestarter is replaceable, which gives it an extra layer of value. The following recommendations I make.

The steel of the fire
3/5

My first thought was to buy a knockoff exo tac, but I found the spark to be rather low and not very hot, like something from a flint and steel spark at 800 degrees instead of a 2000+ spark I will keep this just as a backup, but otherwise, I am not impressed. I wouldn't trust these.

One of them broke immediately and was The price is way overpriced, the product is underengineered
3/5

A scam I was involved in left me out of pocket. It is a very cool product. This is wonderful, both in appearance and in feel. However, my first rod crumbled at first contact with the hillside, thus I ended up double my cost. I think it was due to inadequate quality control or poor manufacturing. Also, the price point should be 2 for 5 so that people will be able to afford it. If you want this to make sense, you need to add 00. Approximately one Ferrell rod is made. For packs of 25-packs, it's 20 cents on the web A keychain made of $50 (you can make it in 10 seconds) and a knife or door key will make a spark, so you can make an ignition.

These ferro rods are a cheap imitation of the Exotac product
5/5

That being said, they do the job. A drop of thread locker keeps the rods in place. The rod case has enough room for a bit of tinder to be wound between the rod and case.

I placed one on my car keys and another on my daypack
3/5

I made sure to place the one in good condition. In the middle of putting my day pack back into the car after completing an easy trail walk (it was my first time using it), I noticed the only part of my orange striker still intact. Having removed the bottom cap (that was tight when I put it inside my pack) and the rod itself, I found they were both The one on my car keys is still in good shape, and I have used it to start a few fires. Therefore, I only have one to review so I am only able to give it a 3 star rating.
