Using a rake, create "magic dust" from a piece of fatwood. It's gold if you hit it with the ferro rod and add some fat wood that's been split down into twigs with a knife.
Since mine isn't full and I don't have the box anymore, I'm not sure what weight it is exactly. There is no way I'm gaining 10 pounds. There is a difference of The two numbers 2 and 1 together form 3. I feel that 5 is right. 1 is probably the most likely number.

The flame is durable, making it easy to start a campfire. My first step is to scrape the fat wood with a knife to create a small pile of fine shavings that will ignite. After I have feathered all four sides of the fat wood with my knife, I then cut the remaining portion of the fat wood off. When using the fat wood shavings and the feathered wood on them, applying a spark where they meet is usually enough to get things started. You can also add some cotton wool if it does not work.
It's so easy to start a fire with these fatwood packs in my woodburning stove. What I really like about them is that the packaging states that they are made from South American trees that have fallen (in other words, no trees were cut down). It's boo- I hear you.
I ordered this as part of a small backup kit because I needed a small box, however I didn't realize how much it was until after I received it. In the end you are spending about 16% more than you would with a bigger package. If you are like me and need to store a small amount of this stuff, do yourself a favor and buy a big container then place some in a pencil case. As opposed to buying this, buying the bigger box entitles you to a pencil case.

As I pack for camping, I cut the length and width of the cloth in thirds and make bundles for my pack!.
There is a nice cedar resin smell to them.
They don't work at all for starting a fire. Once they do catch fire, they last only a few minutes before they quit. They are nearly impossible to light. It would be better to buy them They are more expensive, but they do.
