I use this in my cabin fireplace and it works great. Even though it says to use as much as it says on the directions, I don't have to. It works great even if I only use about a quarter of what it instructs you to do. In fact, I now only burn the split logs and don't chop up the wood at all.

Over the weekend, I finally had a chance to use it to start my BBQ. works as advertised and the starters sands and rocks kept fire going for 15 minutes until the coals turned a nice white. This was with only 1/4 of the package and I was able to start my grill. The experience of some people has been bad! There was something wrong with the way they used it.
