Selected User Reviews For Mountain House Pad Thai with Chicken | Freeze Dried Backpacking & Camping Food | Survival & Emergency Food | Gluten-Free
I am good. The best Mountain Houses have to offer. Here, it's pretty easy to ignore all the vine reviews that are paid by vine. Probably most of them do not eat freeze dried food very often or have not used this brand of food for camping for many years. The food is not bland, not soupy, and you don't need to adjust the amount of water you add. It certainly does taste like pad Thai it just lacks crushed peanuts. If you want it to taste exactly like pad Thai, add some chopped peanuts. There is no point in eating this if you don't like spicy food. The spicy food will make this dish a hit with you. Take the package apart, remove the oxygen absorber, prepare the water, stir, seal, and use exactly the amount of water stated in the package. Add the water to a rolling boil, remove the oxygen absorber, stir, and Allow 10 minutes for the mixture to sit, open the package, stir all the way to the bottom, then seal it up. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, open the package, stir, then enjoy! Depending on how well you reconstituted it and how hot you wanted it to be (temperature vs. spice), I think that's a trade off. If you cook the noodles and chicken for a full 20 minutes, the water really gets absorbed into the noodles and chicken. It tastes somewhere in between pad Thai, chicken with garlic sauce, and chicken chow fun, but with thinner noodles.
The longer you wait, the better it will taste. I've got to say that this is one of the best mountain house meals they serve. I love how full of spices and garlic it is. It won't be long before you start thinking about the next one.
When prices come back down I'll buy a bunch more of this stuff.
If you use 1 1/2 cup of water instead of 1 1/3 cup, like all Mountain House meals. You can also increase the time between stirring and the next step by a minute or two to make sure the chicken rehydrates completely. The flavor is good, and the heat is just right.
Is that all that Pad Thai is? Not at all. There is a chop suey flavor to this dish. You will not be disappointed if you are expecting Pad Thai since it is tasty with good chunks of chicken in it. In the absence of noodles, I barely noticed them. Despite its small size, the serving is still pretty filling. In the package you get two servings, but they are each only 240 calories, so I doubt those would even qualify as snacks for backpackers. With a price tag of $9, this is quite pricey. You get what you pay for for 99 dollars. As for the ratings, I'll give it four stars because it's a delicious chop suey-like dish. If the price was around $6, I would stock up on it.
I think this is not I would have preferred a little more heat and more spice in the pad Thai. It's another of those Mountain House items where I suggest putting a bit more water in than the pouch suggests. While I followed the directions to a tee, some parts of the sauce were still uncooked and unhydrated even after mixing three times. In hindsight, this issue is likely due to them calling for too little water, as I have encountered this issue with some of their other items and subsequently added enough to solve the issue with a second pouch. As a result, I think the noodles soak up the water too quickly, which results in it not hydrating fully. In addition to that, it's a bit bland for a pad Thai, which I suppose is more of a compliment. Is it just because the recipe was originally created to keep for a period of 25 years, and then things changed over time? It's not a bad game, you know. But it's also not great either. I am always willing to try a newer product from Mountain House. The only thing I wish was that everything was also offered.
A situation in which you are in an emergency and then have to have substandard care could not be worse There is nothing special about this I'm delighted to tell you that this one had actually turned out to be my favorite I loved how well the food rehydrated, and the taste was amazing! For some reason, I like to add some red chili flakes to make it a little more interesting. It would be a shame to pass up this Pad Thai recipe if you like it- If I was to eat it under any normal circumstances, I would do so because the food is so delicious and easy to prepare!.
When I go camping and in case of an emergency, I have mine. There hasn't been a bad meal I've had at Mountain House While I wished they were a little cheaper and you got a little more bang for your buck, you can't beat that these blinds are going to last a minimum of 25 years.
It's the shirt I bought back in March when everyone else was preparing to be locked in their houses for the rest of their lives. I love chili and eat it almost every day - There were Macs available online, but they were nearly sold out. As far as I could tell, this was the only flavor that wasn't three times the regular price.
I'm a fan of Mountain House, but I sometimes have trouble knowing how much water to add in order to get it tender and juicy. Due to some reason, I did not have a problem with this meal and it was also delicious. I definitely thought it would be better than I anticipated.
It is impossible to expect a similar experience to the sensation of eating a fresh product. While it is convenient, especially if you are out in the sticks, and you are hungry, and it is cold, and it is late. I have never tasted anything as good as this freeze dried food.
