What is your method of dehydrating the pototoes with the chemical sulfite?

By adding sulfites to products, you help preserve them and maintain their It is essential that you read the ingredients list for any food you purchase. Taking a look at the third image of the product, it shows the ingredients as follows Slices of potato (preserved with sodium bisulfite to keep freshness). While I as well am sulfite sensitive, I decided to consume small amounts of non-sulfite foods I was more concerned about getting enough food for the rest of my family on consecutive days. Rumor has it that it takes a By adding 12 to the product, you may reduce or eliminate some reactions. It is common to find sulfites in almost all dried potatoes sold. In addition to these potato slices, I buy Honest Earth mashed potatoes and rotate my stock so that I always have a box on hand. In addition to the apples used in Augason's hot cereal, there are sulfites inside. So for breakfast I stuck with real fruit.

We've found that adding these to emergency food is a great idea
4/5

In the rainy days leading up to Coronavirus, I ordered one of these. As with several other items I have bought from Augason Farms, this product arrived within the promised timeframe. All three of these were tried at least three You can then cook as you wish). Finish cooking after 30 minutes. The thickness of the dried ones is similar to that of potato chips. Their thickness increases to the same as that of tortilla chips when rehydrated. Initially, when I cooked them, I merely cooked onions and sauerkraut with them in a cast iron skillet. Although my first thought was to serve them as potatoes au gratin or scalloped potatoes, my second though was that they would be wonderful for a potato recipe. I made potatoes au gratin in the Prepper style as my second attempt. "Prepper") diced onion (ok, not really, just what I had), 3 oz of grated Parmesan without After I poured that over the potatoes, I drizzled a scoop of the rehydrating water on top, and baked it at 350 degrees until it was tender. I spent about 40 minutes on the phone. In order to make hash browns the next day, I sliced left-over hydrated potatoes from the au gratin and used them for hash browns. No culinary masterpiece was produced by any of these. All of them were fine, they were even The difference would be nice from eating rice or pasta. I think they would be good with practice (or if I could cook them better). There are a couple things I am not thrilled about, thus it is not a 5 star review. 1) the apples Some people hold to this belief, but a lot of nutrients are found in the skin of potatoes, so growing potatoes and keeping them in good health for a long time is very important As the nutrients we can get will be very important, if the unpeeled version had a longer shelf life without lacking much in nutrition, that would be a huge they're too thin to work well in stews or other dishes if they could be a bit thicker, again assuming that can be accomplished without sacrificing stability, I would prefer it. I'll probably order some more in the future.

This is good

The potatoes are nice and clean looking. The product tastes great. There are better options, but there is no reason to pay this amount. It's cheaper to get scalloped/au gratin potatoes from the store in a box (the same Put them in a vacuum bag and they last a zillion 2) It may be worth it for the long haul - There are situations where you must survive long-term.

There's no taste to complain about
5/5

The last time I used a casserole, I used them. Using the can, I followed the directions to the letter and the results were wonderful. I couldn't tell the difference between these potatoes and fresh potatoes from the supermarket. It appears to be on the mark in terms of price and shelf life. I'll definitely order more in the future.

The products I've been using are great
5/5

It is a product I use both for emergency situations as well as for everyday purposes. The only person I have to cook for is myself since I am an elderly person. Since I don't do a lot of cooking, potatoes tend to spoil before I can For use as well as for emergencies, I've decided it's lower overall for me to buy my dried potatoes and vegetables in bulk. As I only have to hydrate what I plan to eat, I don't have to worry about storage or running to the store every time I want to buy fresh veggies. I did not need to keep a freezer because I didn't use my prepared foods or my frozen purchases.

It allows me to make my favorite dishes and prevents them from spoiling unlike most other products

I cannot go out to shop like most people, so this product is perfect. You can get fresh potatoes from the store.

You will be able to see this An enormous container of potato slices that has been dehydrated
4/5

They have not been opened as I am keeping them aside for tough These items were purchased so that I would have on hand some basic foodstuffs that would last for a while, if things fall through for me and I am in need of food, but am lacking funds for food. The dehydrated potato can be used for dozens of different purposes. Make potato flour by grinding them up and adding them to rehydrate and add cheese sauce to scalloped potatoes, use them in stews, add them to meats when cooking, or crush them up and mix into meatloaf instead of crackers. It comes in handy in a lot of ways. No, I have not opened the can, and will not open it when I need it. It feels like a lot of product is in the can. In the future, when I need them, I will be glad I invested in them.

This turned out to be an unexpected success! The cooked potatoes went well in a pressure cooker potato soup I made
5/5

After dehydrating for about 15 minutes, I cooked them in the oven to finish them. This was my first time eating sliced potatoes and I was surprised at how similar they tasted and acted to fresh Compared to peeling them, the cost might not be bad, and it might still be worth the effort saved.

I was surprised at how well it worked

Buying was a little troubling for me, but I'm glad I did it. Added to Augason Farms' line of "hash browns" are these "sodium-free" alternatives. The scallop potatoes I purchased were good and I plan on buying them again in the future.
