Questions & Answers

Is the chicken from the United States or China?

Our meats come from our facility in Albany, Oregon, which is as close to the source as possible. Our chicken is unquestionably from the United States.

Is it possible to repack the freeze-dried chicken into smaller portions in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers after it has been opened? What is the expected lifespan of these items?

That is something I have done, but my children enjoy stealing them from the storage and eating them as snacks. When the can is opened in my house, it lasts about a week if I'm lucky. But seriously, if you vacuum pack and seal them in mylar bags, I'm pretty sure you'll be good for at least 5 years.

Where did the chicken come from and what is its origin? Is it a product of the United States?

Albany, Oregon is located in the Pacific Northwest. In the United States of America

I saw that this was cooked and dried chicken and that all I needed to do was add water, but there was no mention of freeze drying. Is it made from freeze-dried ingredients?

Yes! Our entire inventory is freeze-dried.

It's a little dusty, but that's not a problem
4/5

It's perfect for emergency situations and preparing my own backpacking meals. Be aware that there will be a lot of "dust" in the can; once I separated out the actual chunks, there was probably about 2 inches of dust in the bottom. This isn't necessarily a bad thing; I use the dust to flavor soups and rice or quinoa meals because it's still a source of protein and adds a delicious chicken flavor - However, you should be aware that it will not be entirely chunk-based.

Great product with a reasonable amount of dust and small particles
5/5

When rehydrated, this is a fantastic product with a nice texture. Also, don't be concerned about any excess dust or small particles. Unless you have a grumpy delivery person who is rough on your packages. I've gone through a lot of Mountain House diced chicken cans and haven't found any dust or broken pieces. To demonstrate, I took the package I had just received, lifted it from the box (where it had been lying on its side), placed it on the table, opened it, and took a picture. The contents were exactly as shown in the attached photo (I did not stage it with intact pieces on top). I weighed the chicken chunks after carefully separating them from the dust and small bits with a strainer. Out of a total of 17 ounces of freeze-dried food, chicken that has been dried Dust/tiny bits (mostly tiny bits) accounted for 4 ounces. The rest was made up of pieces the same size as those in the photo. That is perfectly acceptable to me, because contents are shaken during shipping, which is unavoidable. Furthermore, the dust/tiny bits are completely edible and provide the protein that was promised. It can be sprinkled on top of food for dogs and cats, and it can also be used in soups, casseroles, stews, and rice dishes.

It's all good
5/5

It is a big hit with my dog. I used to get nutristore, but since it is no longer available, I switched to this. This is a step forward. I use this to supplement my dog's diet with a little more meat because the pieces are larger and there is less dust. If your dog has a sour stomach, this is especially good with rice. It's also something I keep on hand for that.

Chicken from the Mountain House: The best dehydrated chicken I've ever had! The idea of putting Mountain House chicken in a can is brilliant
5/5

When I didn't have time or didn't feel well enough to cook due to a long-term illness, I used it for a variety of recipes. Many meals have been transformed from boring and bland to satisfying and delicious thanks to Mountain House. The chicken is diced into half-inch cubes that have been dehydrated. complete hydration Within 10 minutes, you'll have a great source of protein to add to any dish that calls for chicken. When I didn't have any chicken in the fridge, I used this in soups. No one could tell I'd used dehydrated canned food instead of fresh food. The texture is identical to fresh cooked chicken, and the flavor is identical to fresh in soups, salads, and other dishes that call for chicken. Another advantage is that if you make a large batch of soup, you can freeze half of it. The chicken was delicious when we ate it later after freezing the leftovers. br>I'm excited to try more Mountain House foods, and I'm confident that we'll be repeat customers as long as Mountain House continues to provide high-quality products. Please check yes if you found this review to be helpful. Thank you very much!.

Delicious was completely taken aback
5/5

The chicken rehydrates in just a few seconds with hot water, and I added a little dehydrated onion to it and it was delicious. You will not be disappointed with this because the chicken tastes like chicken, it tastes good, and it has the texture of chicken because it is chicken. I've ordered meat from other manufacturers before, and it had a rubbery texture and no flavor. But not this. Thank you, Mountain House, and thank you for keeping the price reasonable. The chicken in the can and the chicken in the bowl were both reconstituted with water and onion and were both delicious.

It has a chicken flavor
5/5

This chicken is used to make backpacking meals. In the end, eating as a family of four is much less expensive than purchasing individually packaged meals. It also allows us to be more inventive in the kitchen and keep the sodium levels under control. This chicken has a delicious flavor and a great texture. I'm not sure I'd eat it plain, but it's delicious when combined with rice, noodles, or sauce. The bottom of the can is covered in meat dust. I mix it in with the chunks and it adds a nice flavor to the dish.

The path of least resistance is to climb a mountain
5/5

I haven't tried this product on its own, but I have tried other MH meals that include chicken. with the proper amount of water (a tad less than it calls for, you can add more later if needed) and leave it to sit for long enough (I try to give it a couple of minutes extra) and the most important part is to stir it right after you add water and again halfway through waiting.

It is impossible to seal
3/5

There was a three on the bottom of the can. The steel did not get rolled together in a 5 inch area, so I believe this is a manufacturing issue rather than the canister being damaged by Amazon or UPS. What should I think about the contents of the package if the company has such low quality standards for its packaging? br> When I opened the can to inspect the contents, I discovered that the oxygen absorber was solid as a rock. The chicken appears to be in good condition, but I'd be hesitant to feed it to a family member. I'm hesitant to order from you again because of this.
