I use it to cook a variety of foods in the microwave.
It has a very light weight to it. 4 oz. is a lot of weight. For something so light, I don't have a scale. You can easily toss it out, but it's nice to keep them cleaner and together in a pack with whatever else you can fit in there. Please keep in mind that buying these items separately is less expensive, and my bowl came with the mesh when purchased separately.
The cup can be used as a coffee mug, as stated by the other respondent. I take it with me when I travel and stay in hotels and B&Bs. Bs so that I can make coffee in "my own" cup rather than the ones sitting near the coffee maker, about which you have no idea if they've been sanitized since the last time they were used. My bowl and cup from the sea to the summit accompany me wherever I go:

So my mug now smells like coffee and my bowl like stir-fried vegetables. br>When I returned home from my trip, I soaked both in a baking soda solution overnight in the hopes of eliminating the odor. Unfortunately, it had no effect. I even ran it through two dishwasher cycles after that with no discernible difference in the smell. br>These are extremely disappointing.
Right here is the best option. I bought this product because I wanted to be able to eat more efficiently while backpacking with my girlfriend. When there are two of us, I usually just eat straight from the cooking pot. I needed a container to pour my soup into so I could get started on the next meal. br>When I saw the Sea to Summit cup and bowl, I decided to give it a try. I have to say that I am pleased with the outcome. The cup and bowl collapse to fit easily into the pouch. They're simple to clean and fit into my backpack with ease. Both of these items can withstand the extreme heat of boiling water, which is crucial. I have to say that in terms of bowl capacity, I haven't seen anything comparable. There are less expensive alternatives, but they only hold about half as much liquid, so it's worth the extra money. As you can see in the picture, the inside of the cup also has measurements, which is useful when preparing food at camp. br>Once again, I only bring this with me when my girlfriend visits, but believe me when I say it comes in handy. Out of all the options, I believe this is the best buy. It does exactly what you need it to do in the most efficient way possible.
I adore these so much that I'm seriously considering purchasing a second set. Initially, I planned to buy each item separately in order to save money (yes, they are cheaper when purchased separately). But, in order to obtain the pouch, I decided to purchase the set. I'm glad I did because it allows you to store other items, such as napkins. I have a GSI Pinnacle Dualist cookware set that comes with two telescopic sporks. I put one of those sporks inside the case so that I can have a Mug, Bowl, Napkins, and Spork all in one pouch. Also, if you're unable to wash the mug and bowl, simply wipe them clean and place them back in the pouch; once you're able to wash them, you can wash all three at the same time: If you're going to buy both, I recommend getting the mug/bowl/storage pouch set. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I'm currently in Europe and brought my mug/bowl set with me, which has proven to be very useful. Recently, I've been eating cereal out of it. Because the only fancy bowls available at the hotel are China-style bowls that are far too big for cereal, I use my X-large bowl. bowl. In fact, I've been using a lot of the sea to summit products I brought with me, including the clothes line. The Xbowl and mug are essential items to bring along on any domestic or international trip. It's a five-star experience from start to finish!.
Backpacking with these is a dream come true. When stored in their storage pouch, they take up very little room and are extremely light. After a few uses, the durability appears to be solid. I've never had any problems with cleaning or food tasting different when eaten from a bowl or cup. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.
I wanted to like this, but it tasted like detergent after being washed in the dishwasher. It got a little better after I scrubbed it with water. It also retains food flavors, according to another reviewer. I'm keeping it because for something this small, form=function, but I wanted to draw attention to it.
This is without a doubt one of the best gifts you can give to a backpacker or hiker. It's incredibly light. I really like how they fold up to save space. Also excellent is the netting housing for the bowl and cup. Both items, as well as my utensils, are stored in it. They're built to be extremely durable. Very good quality. They're also incredibly simple to maintain. Simply wipe it clean with a paper towel or hanky, and then wash it with soap and water when you have access to it.
This set is fantastic because it can be collapsed. The hard bottoms allow you to cut steak, pork chops, or whatever else you cooked over an open fire with a fork and knife without fear of poking holes.
There was very little wasted space between the cup and the plate. Attachments on the mesh bag allow it to be hung to dry on a line. I wish this product came in solid colors (all orange, all green, etc. ) so that people's gear could be distinguished more easily. Aside from that, it's a fantastic lightweight, low-volume, and easy-to-clean product.
